Leylah's is a real fighter, always trying to get positive during matches, she is a "tough cookie" never die kind of competitor. But that won't be enough for her to win consistently on the tour. There is one particular thing that is blocking her from winning matches consistently, and that is her serve. Her serve has been very erratic, she is serving around or below 50% 1st serves and double faulting multiples times in most of her matches (the numbers are 49% of first serves and 12 double faults during this match - by the way on the second set she served at 56% of 1st serves and won the set - the numbers were 45% and 43% for 1st and 3rd sets respectively). If we look more in detail I believe the main problem on her serve comes from her ball toss. Her ball toss is all over the place (often times to low, or too much to the left, or too much to the right). As a result many times she ends up aborting the serve or trying to serve anyway by adjusting her serve motion to compensate for the bad ball toss...and then double faulting or serving a weak serve that is easily attacked by her opponent. Once she solves the serve issue (and I hope she will) I'm pretty certain the rest of her game and her mentality will bring her back to the top 20 or better.

Fernandez has got to improve her serve if she wants to be competitive against top players. It's never going to be a weapon, but it has to at least be solid.

Sometimes, she hesitates to make the potent strikes in the forehand and backhand, making the parallel forehand and backhand unforced errors. I have a recommendation concerning this affair. She is definitely supposed to advance her focal point in order to subdue the courses of the rallies against her rivals.

If Leylah has better coach she would'nt be serving like she's doing now..Notably, the toss on her serve was too erratic and need to be realligned..Her mental, tactical and strategic components are fine..She take the ball on early rise and redirect it efficiently to an open court..Her physical sub component namely the gross motor and fine motor skill are working well that keep her game in competitive level..I just wish for her to reconsider hiring a good coach to utilize her talent and consequently improve the serve percentage she desperately needed, She has great speed, agility and quickness along with endurance strength that produce and maintain force over prolonged period of time and is a definite requirement when a match goes into the third and deciding set..I dont really understand the logic and the hesitation to hire an additional coach for that purpose..

All things considered, Fernandez on a good day is the Marcelo Rios of 1998-99, obviously a ton less talent. On a normal day, she is a valiant but limited player with the power of a midge and who cannot destabilize. Perhaps she could have some room for improvement by leaving her family unit and seeking outside advice. Regardless, if we compare her level at 18 to Anisimova at the same age, we see the difference in potential. To watch it regularly on TH-cam, especially its US Open 2021, that's my opinion. I don't claim to be an infallible observer either.
