Crazy high level from both, particularly impressed by Leylah's creativity on the court. Looking dangerous

Great match! The speed and aggression on the ball was on another level from both players. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Interesting lefty-lefty matchup. Looks like the Czech Republic has produced another talent in Bejlek. She has a pretty unique forehand.

I'm impressed with how Fernandez just keeps plugging away like he has blinders on. She's becoming a seasoned veteran before our eyes.

I'm getting introduced to Sara. Although she didn't win, she is, and going to be, a serious competitor. Stay focused.

Bejlek was tougher than I expected. Just glad Leylah made it through.

Bejlek is improving yall. If you watch her match last year against Krejcikova, she was 3 feet behind the baseline. In this match, she was toe to toe with Leylah at the baseline.

Leylah had the distinction of playing Andreeva in her first ever main draw match and lost...at one point in the first set, I thought this could be a repeat.

She needs to take more risks with her game. In this highlight alone, she’s had so many open down the line backhands to hit but she just plays it back cross court after moving her opponent off court. Seems like she wants to wrong foot her opponent and look crafty vs ending points. I feel most players on tour know her tendencies now and it shows from the results in 2023. That fighting spirit will take her places, but maybe not without some changes. ❤

What's the chances of left hander meeting another left hander...........
Fernandez who was the former US Open runner up in 2021 is stark contrast compared with the US Open 2021 winner Radacanu who is basically going downhill. Leylah is improving each year and winning tournaments. She really works hard for each of her points!

Wow! Kept seeing Jennifer Brady but only Sara is left-handed. Same style of play, same looks.

LF won the Fed-BJK Cup. ALong with Gauff and Swiatek, a player to watch...Beljek is going to be in the top tier by the age of 21, imo.

Sara only 17! Adorable, diminutive lefty is a nice new presence. Hope to see more of her. The question is, Why does Fernandez (#32) get to play an unestablished qualifier in the first round while Caroline Garcia (#16) has to play Naomi Osaka?? Not realistic!

The draw as it is called really means it. Except for seed player who end up in fixed position, other players position is determined by a draw done before the event. For some players it is pure luck or unluck. Last year draws for many tours did not favour Leylah.

Osaka has not played any tournament for 15 months. She is lucky she is included in the draw. Otherwise, she should play as a qualifier.

Leylah shouldn't chase every ball..she should play what bejlek did
