She needs to take more risks with her game. In this highlight alone, she’s had so many open down the line backhands to hit but she just plays it back cross court after moving her opponent off court. Seems like she wants to wrong foot her opponent and look crafty vs ending points. I feel most players on tour know her tendencies now and it shows from the results in 2023. That fighting spirit will take her places, but maybe not without some changes. ❤
What's the chances of left hander meeting another left hander........... Fernandez who was the former US Open runner up in 2021 is stark contrast compared with the US Open 2021 winner Radacanu who is basically going downhill. Leylah is improving each year and winning tournaments. She really works hard for each of her points!

The draw as it is called really means it. Except for seed player who end up in fixed position, other players position is determined by a draw done before the event. For some players it is pure luck or unluck. Last year draws for many tours did not favour Leylah.

Osaka has not played any tournament for 15 months. She is lucky she is included in the draw. Otherwise, she should play as a qualifier.
