When you apply a positive source of the red wire automatically switches to the back up camera with the lines for backing up. I actually have this unit installed on my Africa twin motorcycle.I get front and rear DVR cams. I’m not utilizing the red wire because I don’t need a back up camera.

your father should have went through his insurance and had them subrogate. same happened to me 10 years ago. guy in front of me backed up in the middle of the rode because he missed his turn. his insurance took his side but i did a claim with mine and we fought it. got my money back!

Quick question: Do you know how high the screen is above the base, meaning the gap between the bottom point of the screen from base? The reason I ask is my 2015 C300 Mercedes has a fixed screen where the top end of it is about 4 inches above the dash. If I have to place it on my dash, I may lose visibility of a part of the Apple CarPlay screen.
I installed this on my golf cart and everything is working great, my only issue is that the audio from my phone is going straight to my bluetooth speaker so I dont have any volume control from this unit. I thought I would be able to BT out from this unit to my speaker, but when I go to the BT transmit screen it tells me to connect my phone directly to the speaker. It does not even give me a list of device to choose my bluetooth speaker.

Just picked up one of these, excited to install but noticed that the rear cam is powered by the main unit, it has a trigger wire but no ground - is this at risk of shorting out the reverse light?

The red wire goes to your back light, so it’ll tell the units automatically switch to the rearview camera when you put it in reverse

The wire for the reverse camera is just to trigger the screen to show the feed from that camera when your reverse lights come on.
