Very cool! A few years ago I paddled from Long Lake beach to where you put in at "the crusher". There used to be a rope swing there and it was a popular swim hole in Tupper!
Holy cow!!! ,...... man do i miss that area!!! you have to paddle to that part of the camp, and there are several portages ,and islands around there , all connected!

When are you doing the next trip? I love doing this stuff all the time and fishing. I’ve done canoe river trips down the Delaware River starting up in Matamora, NY and finishing at Dingman’s Ferry many times and then a few longer trips finishing at Bushkill, PA a couple times. I’ve stayed on Raquette once at Tioga Point for five days at a lean-to, but had a pontoon boat. Then similar trips like that staying at Indian Lake and Saranac Lake several times.for five days. Great fishing! Great video and if your ever down a paddler/camper/beer drinker let me know. It’s hard fo find people that like this stuff.
Leave a note on your dashboard telling where you're going and when you expect to return. The state boat launch in Tupper Lake will make for a longer paddle, but it's wide open and well lit so it might be safer to leave your vehicle there.
Although the park is a state park (not a national park), the 6 million acres within the "blue line" is not all state land. About half is private land not open to the public. The stretch of Raquette (sometimes spelled Racquette) River from the Setting Pole Dam in Piercefield, upstream to the Raquette Falls is the longest uninterrupted stretch of flat water in the Adirondacks, comprising the Raquette Pond, Tupper Lake, and Lake Simond (AKA Simon Pond), an ox bow near the Wild Center and the river proper. For a bit longer canoe paddle, you can put in at the State boat launch in Tupper Lake and paddle upstream past the "Crusher" boat launch to the places where these gentlemen paddled. It is a popular route upstream and down, so you're lucky to get a lean-to, especially in summer. Be prepared to pitch a tent wherever you plan to stop for the night. Bring your fishing rod. Jigs, spoons, crankbaits, and spinners are your best bets, although weedless topwaters can make for exciting action in shoreline lilypads, shallow backwaters, and fallen trees. The river twists and turns, with a number of side bays, so a good map and GPS will help you stay in the channel. The river current is mostly lazy and slow, but gets shallower and swifter the closer you get to the falls. The falls are not navigable. Nor are they falls in the usual sense of the word. They are 1.5 miles of whitewater rapids, with a canoe carry on the east shore, if you want to go beyond.

Awesome video! Should invest in some dry bags they are fairly cheap and makes those rainy days sooo much easier knowing your gear is dry

Ahhh, not sure. We usually do a canoe trip but this year we’re considering a backpacking trip instead

Done this a few times. Once from racquette lake to Tupper lake. Rain is part of the fun. If you are prepared for it.

Yes I was! You shouldn’t have an issue with this although I don’t know what the official policy is
