Hi Jayda aside from my original comment ⬇️ I have a couple questions.😁 Is there any harm in turning each round? I know it’ll work for this square but will it present any problems for future months? Also could I go ahead & put a SC border around it now for ease of sewing them together at the end? I’m going to be learning a lot about my tension this year. My 1st square is 7 inches with a 6mm hook. Loving it! Thanks in advance 🤗
My 11yo son, who I taught to crochet last year but has really improved in the past month, has decided to make this blanket with me this year. I’m so excited for him 😊
Jayda, you are such a good teacher. Thank you. I have been doing stacked shell squares all year, and I am obsessed with them! I hate traditional grannies, but I love this stitch! Thanks so much!😊
It was so hard to sit through the ads before the video. I was just so excited to learn the theme. But it is my way of supporting you two so I was a big girl and stuck it out. 😍
The ad that is running now for me is nearly 20 minutes, and I feel the product being sold is a scam. I know creators have no control over the ads. I watch about 40 seconds. I hear 30 seconds is enough for the creator to receive ad revenue.
@@karenh2890 I've also been told 30s from multiple creators so that is also my go to. Luckily it was two 15s ads before the video played. I also try to let the after ads play through as I can just mute the tab and open the next.
I too learned how to crochet a granny square by watching your tutorial. I've since made 4 granny square blankets for each of my 4 grown children. They love them! Now it's time for one of my own and this one is just perfect! Thank you! Your creativity & joy are so inspiring!
Love this! My husband picked beige, green and gray as the alternating colors and I just adjusted by doing a standing dc instead of a ch3. Fantastic video as always! Thanks!

Thanks Jayda for your new granny square/ I'm so excited about it,am doing a christening shawl in your new stacked shells granny square design@ have posted it to 2 crochet groups, you're a great tutor, thank u
I have always wanted to make a calendar blanket with you but never had the time. But now that I have found myself with severe back issues I need something to do to keep my mind off my pain so hopefully I will be able to make this one with you.
Hi Jayda! I'm using some cotton I've had in my statsh for my squares. I've been wanting to make a cotton blanket and I think this is going to be perfect. As I watch the snow falling here, I think I'll start each square with white and add a color for the rest of the rounds. Thank you for another fun year filled with the popular Granny Square 💗💗
I’m a big fan of variegated wool, so I’m thinking alternating a variegated square with a plain colour from the variegated etc.depending on how many colours are in the variation, usually 4 (or more), one could make a 5x5 square blanket.
Wow Jayda, I have been crocheting for over 55 years and never come across this version of granny square. Where have I been? Lol I must say this will be my go to square from now on. I followed along with your tutorial using variegated wool in yellow, peach, sage and a sea green. As I mentioned below I will make alternating squares in plain (hopefully) matching colours. I have quite the stash so finding a match shouldn’t be difficult. Thanks for this! Jane
Hi Jane! That's a great plan for your blanket! Stash -busting is my aim this year as well 😁 We aim to bring some new Granny Square designs to this year's blanket project (like this one, I designed that 😊) and some classic favourites too!
I love your granny square calendar blankets. I love granny squares. I was planning on doing a series on granny squares this year. This crochet along is right up my alley. Thank you!!
You must have an incredible imagination!!!! I had forgotten how easily you make something look so easy, and fun! Can’t wait to join you this year with this project! Thank you for the invitation!!!😉😉😉
Checking this out while I work on trying to finish the 2021 CAL.. have October, November and December left to do. Hoping to finish this month. Lost my crojo and ended up picking up a new craft. Finally getting back to crochet!
I too thought you would venture into the world of mosaic, but it seems you are a granny square girl at heart. ❤️❤️ I may make a sweater/cardigan as well. You gave such great instructions on the Boo-Bee Cardi in the fall it really inspired me to move in that direction.
Hi! We like to change things up each year with our Calendar Blankets and we just did a year of graph work and colour changing, so it was time for something different 😊
Oh my gosh, I am so excited 🎉 I love ❤ granny squares and also enjoy the different options of colorway you showed us examples of. That way, we have something to keep us busy through the month while waiting on the next square.
I've made 4 of these for a decent size blanket. I going to change colors for each month. My first ones are navy, light blue and white. Ready for the February square!
So I just watched the first of the 2024 calendar blanket videos and I’m so excited. I have been healing from tenosynovitis in my left wrist since early October and have only been able to crochet for about 1 week now. As I’m watching the 2024 video on my TV, I’m also watching the October 2023 calendar blanket video on my phone and crocheting along with that one so I can finish it before starting the 2024 blanket. So glad I can do this. I was so worried my hand and wrist would not heal enough to ever crochet again. Thank you Jayda for always brightening my day and being an encouragement. Things going to be fun! 🎉😊
The first tutorial I watched of yours was for a standard granny square back in 2018, I never knew anything beyond the basics of crochet until I started watching your channel. I'm excited to get to learn 12 new granny square patterns this year.
Love, love, love granny squares and the nostalgic nod! This is going to be a great stash-buster (especially since I hit a few sales and have added to that stash, haha!). I'm going to make several each month for a good-size blanket. Thank you, as always, for sharing your amazing talent!
I have always thought of the Chain-1 as a "traveling stitch." From time to time in Granny Squares, we have to travel across an area on the row below where we didn't put into stitches. So, that Chain-1 helps us to travel across that area and still keep the Granny Square flat. Just helped me think about what I am doing and why.
Hey Jayda n Mr… love this granny!! Sooooo pretty in the 3 color combo. I like the colors you chose so much!! This is one CAL blanket I think if make…. Also like that you’ll be giving 3 alternate squares if we’d like to use them too! And I’d make mirs than one granny to make st least a lap blanket… I’d use Redheart super saver no dye lots in case I need more of one color… washed up softer.. so no worries about that… I’d not dry it tho to avoid pilling… Maybe just air dry it after it dried.. W/a couple towels… Alone… Thanks for this project t!! A winner!! ❤️
Jayda!!! Ive already started 4 other afghans for this year plus all the million wips i already have in the stash that i havent even pulled out yet... and after see this number 5 has now been started 😂
I have yet to complete a blanket, let alone a Granny Square blanket. But I LOVE granny squares. I bought 3 different colors from a heavily discounted Lion Brand sale and this might be the perfect project to use them for!!! Thank you! I hope I can stick to this year's. I tried a crochet-a-long last year and I didn't keep up with it, partially due to frustration because I was VERY new to crochet. I feel like I'm much more equipped this year! Wish me luck!
You can always just make one square a month, very easy to commit too, especially if you're still learning and finding your own speed 💗 That said, make as many as you want to! You can always use granny squares for other projects down the road 😊
@JaydaInStitches I'm much better this year! I had the first square almost done in a little over an hour last night. Your chosen size for the square and the fact that I love granny squares makes this one much more achievable! The girl who designed the one I tried to follow last year intended each square to be 24"x24", and to a brand new hooker with tension issues, still learning, messing up something that size was very discouraging. I learned grannies after that. I cracked open that new yarn for this last night. I can't wait to see what I come up with for this!!!
I LOVE granny squares and am so excited about this blanket! This is my first year doing one of your blankets. I already purchased the first pattern and just need life to slow a bit to get started! Thank you for doing this!
This is my 1st calendar blanket, and I'm having so much fun just listening to you while I crochet and follow your pattern. I'm already thinking about making other projects using this granny square. Thank you for such a fun and easy-to-follow tutorial, Jayda. ❤
Hi Jayda and right now I am working on my cottage core mosaic blanket and granny squares blanket and butterfly mosaic blanket and my somebunny and I love your channel and your videos and if you keep making videos I will keep watching them and what is your favorite crochet project to work on right now and favorite type of yarn to used when crocheting and keep up the great work on your TH-cam channel and keep up the great work on your crochet project
Lol, this is fabulous Jayda. I decided to go back to the beginning of your calendar blanket tutorials & watch them, while waiting very patiently for 2024 calendar blanket reveal. So I am well into making your temperature calendar blanket & your Fancy granny square blanket. I also have been playing around with my color scheme for this years blanket and to my delight a new granny square blanket will begin. Mad or what. 😂😮😊

Hi Auntie! Thank you for watching 😊
Hi Gayle, yes! I often describe it as a "bridge" or a "spacer", it definitely helps us travel from one little cluster of stitches to another 😊

😂😁 Welcome to the Cupboard Kristie!
I have bought my yarn just for this year's calendar blanket. Glad that i did it too.
Such a cute square and idea for this year!!! Hope you have a good night!!!❤
Love the intro! So excited to crochet along for the year!

Yay! I’m so excited! I didn’t make the last 2 years. I’m making this one. I might just make my squares bigger! Thank you Jayda!

Hi again Laura!! Thank you SO MUCH! We really appreciate your support of our show 🥰
Lol, this is fabulous Jayda. 😂😮😊
Wow! Hey! I love having several projects on the go 😊
I'm planning to make this year's blanket with you. 1 block down. Thank you for sharing.
I have 2 brand new skeins of Lion Brand Mancala. I think I’ll use that this year since it’s easy to find to get more.
I’m going to use all my leftover yarn from the 2023 temperature Moss stitch blanket I made! Perfect coordinated project 🥰
Perfect!
