  • Howdy ya’ll. Have you watched yesterday’s video on 3D (Stereoscopic) photographs of Ireland, all taken before the year 1899?
Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to that video (which can be seen here • WOW! 125 Stereoscopic ... ), I’ve decided to make a part two, showcasing roughly 60 of my favorite pre-1900 3D Stereoscopic Images which I discovered in the Library of Congress (and other museums).
These images will be from all over the world, all using the seemingly advanced stereoscopic type of camera to produce a “3D” image.
From Asia, to Europe, Africa, and even the Americas, we have photographic evidence of “historic” palaces and castles which were taken with stereoscopic cameras. These photographs are all said to be dated to before the year 1900, and nearly every photograph has a title which will give you a bit more information on the structure depicted.
So now let us take a look at some of the rarest, 3D, Old World (and my favorite) photographs. Enjoy!
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photogr...
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereos...
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereo_...
Again, these photographs come to us (at least 80% of them) from the Library of Congress, which can be accessed at www.loc.gov/pictures

In the 1960’s and 70’s I was collecting old stereoscope slides that you could find in little antique shops. My Dad had gotten a collection of wooden stereoscopes and a boxed set of 200 slides from a trip around the world made in the 1920’s at an auction. He used to go to a lot of estate sale auctions when I was a teenager. I still have all the slides and antique slide holders but I haven’t looked at them for years.
Now I’m very interested in seeing them again now that I know about Tartaria.
I’m sure the longer I have them the more valuable they will be.
I always especially liked looking at the interior scenes because of the dramatic depth of vision and detail. I could look at one slide for many minutes because there was so much to see.
I heard that they used to be in library’s and at some point they started putting them in the trash because they went out of fashion.
    What a terrible loss!

For the side by side pictures, you can just look at them in cross eyes if you want to view it in 3D.
For the colour split pictures, you probably need to use some of those colour 3D glasses, like the red and blue ones.

In the 60s I had a prescription stereoscope. I had to do eye exercises every night to correct my lazy eye. The picture cards had different pictures on each side, for example a goldfish on one side and a goldfish bowl on the other. I had to stare at it until it looked like the fish was in the bowl. So I was wondering if looking crosseyed would make these look 3D. I guess I could have tried it!

The heavy beautiful buildings right at the water’s edge from 200 or more years ago is fascinating to me. Just learning about how the main columns for the Brooklyn bridge were built and how they learned the hard way about how to hold back the water with caissons and how many men died from the bends makes you wonder what construction information was lost over the course of a century. The foundations for the city of Venice had to be deep and well into bedrock and how did they keep the water at bay while digging with primitive hand tools before steam engines even existed.
Fascinating stuff Jarred Miller, thanks for your contribution to this subject!

Venice has never made sense to me, Kevin.
I was walking around the old quarters of Genoa in 2015 through the canyons of streets flanked by massive apartment buildings. Looking at the size of stone blocks, the ornate facades, fountains and cathedrals I am convinced we didn't build them. I have some 35 years of construction experience.
      Nothing makes sense, brother.

Jarid, the images took me back to the spring of 1989, when i was a college student travelling in Scotland. Edinburgh was the most Tartarian odyssey i have ever encountered. I was not looking through the same lenses i am now looking through, but the place reeks with remnants of the old world. Holyrood Castle is now Holyrood Palace and sits at the East end of the "Royal mile" and Edinburgh Castle sits high on its hill on the West end. The entire walk is breathtaking and Edinburgh Castle is the quintessential "castle-on-a-rock." Thanks for the memory-jogger.

With these, if you do cross your eyes, the near will far and the far near.
Anyone can make their own 3D photos with any digital camera if they understand how. A small, simple "point and shoot" is best. I will make another comment but I am posting this now.

1860!? 😳 Considering the State of Oregon (my state) was accepted into the Union in 1859. This is whole photography narrative is pretty shocking. I’m born and raised here (Portland) and even our downtown has little to no construction photos pre-1920. At least the “old world” stone and masonry buildings. Only deconstruction (tearing down) photos. They made it sound like growing up here the camera wasn’t even invented until the early 1900’s with the lack of photographic evidence the whole state has. 🤨
Also, I cannot get over the shutter-speed of these photos. People, animals, the freakin fountains are being snapped with zero ghosting or light blur. It just doesn’t make sense! 🤯😝 Awesome video once again, Jarid! ❤️🐵

Very intriguing photos and nice narration and very talented pianist! I relax my eyes and the 3D image shows in the middle between both of the separated images to the right and left. Is that the way it is supposed to appear if you are doing it right? I end up with the main subject and an area around the person, if it's a person in front center, looking sunken into the picture. I couldn't do it toward the end when there wasn't a clear division line between the two pictures. Was I doing it the best way possible without special stereo glasses? Is it where they sell special stereo glasses you wear? Thanks for taking the time and work to create a fascinating venture into another world!

to see these in 3-D ,without tools, *place the device screen you are viewing at a comfortable and center your face to the screen.
    * then cross your eyes slightly .look at left image with right eye and right image with left eye. your face must be square and level to the two images .
    * it will be screwy looking for a few moments but with practice , all of the sudden the image will be clear and with a
3- d effect. your brain will superimpose them in your visual cortex. amazing! practice and try. no tools needed.
i can do it at will now.

Sometimes one wonders what additional variable elements of physics might be factored in to realize same . Telepathic resonance ?

First of all, "stereoscopy" predates photography. The Keystone Mast company sold stereoscopes and then hired photographers and traveling salesmen to sell "new content". The View Master later held the same prestige. But then as today, not all people can use these devices, due to a variety of visual impairments. So a few years ago the introduction of large-screen 3D televisions failed because the content was connected to Blu-Ray that entered the market just as "Streaming" began, killing that content stream. Same goes with "VR" which just utilizes an "electronic stereoscope". I once tried to get University of Cal-Riverside to scan some of the "half-million" images they have to no avail. And YES, there ARE people who want to keep the past "hidden".

3d beautiful. You dont need glasses. Google 'magic eye' pictures, they are computer genreated cartoon pictures that go 3d. Read the instructions on how to see the hidden pictures in magic eye pictures , they were popular in 1990s . Anyway practice on them maybe and then try seeing these. It takes some practice but its amazing. With your photos. When I blur my eyes and kinda see 3 images instead of two. Then focus on the middle ( illusion) photo which is both images combined and tada. Best to have screen / image completly straight infront of you. No slant and straight up and down or it doesnt work 20cm? Away from face

Not to take away from any of the amazement of the photographs .. I do not think that the camera took the picture as a double, originally it would have been one picture and one picture shifted slightly to the side and placed side by side on the card and when viewing through the lenses would give it the 3/D feel.
Regardless even that in itself is fascinating for its time. 😒 What we have devolved to is pure evil.

Although I appreciate your good efforts in truth seeking my advice to you is that you start getting more immerse on the actual history and culture of each specific picture you are showcasing.
Sure we all want to find that missing link that can assure us that they have been deceiving humanity all along, but you have to put things in context of time and place and not bulking them for the sake of compiling a video.
I know its easier said than done to dig for every fact, every buildings history, putting them in a specific time frame but that's what good investigation takes.
Putting a bunch of nice photos from different continents and time periods with no relation at all, can only mislead people from the real purpose or objective.
And by the way, what exactly is the objective here?
I myself like to make sense of things and putting them in perspective to give my ideas some clarity and shape, simply because that is imperative in my objective of tying the dots and loose ends.
I already know cultures, I know languages, I know history, I know the official narrative, but what exactly is missing in the puzzle to snap me out of that circle of clutter are the clues I am searching for.

Hey Jarid, if you ever run out of ideas for videos, I would like to see videos focused on current war torn or active genocide areas. For example Yemen, Syria, and perhaps Ukraine, Myanmar/Burma.

I had found videos on how to see 3-D without glasses. Rawly works great just takes practice.
