  • Just when it appeared that the Michigan football coaching staff is finally complete, a wrench was thrown into the mix.
On Friday, the University of Michigan finally announced all of the defensive coaches officially, with Wink Martindale coming in as defensive coordinator, Greg Scruggs as defensive line coach, Brian Jean-Mary as linebackers coach, and LaMar Morgan as defensive backs coach. We discuss each of them and what they bring to the table and what we're hoping to see.
But also on Friday, it was revealed that running backs coach and all-time Michigan rushing leader Mike Hart will not be returning to the program. What that means, a replacement we'd like to see and the tenets that should be considered for who comes into the role.
Finally, the offensive line should be very good, and we discuss the floor and ceiling for the 2024 unit and why we're bullish on the group.

Just hire the Michigan legendary coach Fred Jackson as RB coach. Harbaugh hired him as a analyst. And he's a great recruiter. Unless Moore wants a younger guy.

I was going to recommend Willie Taggart as a candidate but I doubt he would make a move from the NFL for the same position in college.
Also, I too am bullish on the O-line. I really like the potential of Gentry, El-Hadi, Crippen, Priebe, and Hinton. Three of those guys already have starting experience in the Big Ten and Harbaugh said Crippen and Gentry were good enough to be starters last year. I also really like Raheem Anderson, Amir Herring, and Jeff Persi as guys who will push for playing time too. There are two freshmen I believe will be ready sooner than later too.

Finding a replacement for Hart? God! Who'd want to be running backs coach at Michigan? I have no doubt some one will accept the job. It's not as if it is a demotion for whomever takes the job. Look for an assistant coach at a like Coastal Caroline or Louisiana,. or a MAC school.
