      @; Rings has always been one of the most awe-inspiring events for me just because of how much strength it takes. I've seen a gymnast that looked as if he could hang on the rings all day lol. High bar is probably the most insane to watch though. Every time I see a flight sequence over the bar, I hold my breath and pray the gymnast doesn't mess up. Seeing falls is terrifying

  • @ajimenez1719ify
    @ajimenez1719ify 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is the pommel horse an event that no man likes to do? (I never could figure out the purpose of that event, or how the dscores were calculated on that event.) It is really boring to watch from a spectator point of view but, is it boring for the men that do it as well?

    • @ajimenez1719ify
      @ajimenez1719ify 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hock Ooi and what do you think he would say? I don't think that asking Max Whitlock is ever going to be an option due to his celebrity status, and I think you know that. I am no celebrity, and am just a lowly 30 something year old woman from the USA, so, I don't think my questions would be a priority to someone like him. So, again, what do you think he might say about It? (That is the best I am going to get, I'm sure.)

    • @dophie3292
      @dophie3292 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrea Jimenez I love to watch and compete pommel I think it's boring for spectators but if you understand the movements it's great

    • @ajimenez1719ify
      @ajimenez1719ify 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Strawhat Devon maybe that's why I don't care to watch it, I don't understand the movements. I never have understood it. I used to see the guys in the gym training it when I was an elite gymnast back in the 90's, and I never could get why they would get on that mushroom looking thing first and then get on the pommel horse and do the same thing they did on the mushroom. I don't see what is going on with the pbars either. I can remember one time in particular, I had just got done training a new tumbling pass, and on the walk back to the other end of the floor, I decided that I was going to try and jump up on the pbars and see if I could do it. (I was thinking "this can't be any harder than the bars set I already do, I got this", God almighty was I wrong) I got up there, casted to handstand, over cooked it, and had no idea what to do, so, I just fell straight down thru the pbars, and face planted. My coach, who was a retired male gymnast was laughing hysterically, and saying "just bc it looks easy, dosent mean it is."

    • @kikikavianpour8511
      @kikikavianpour8511 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's because pommel horse is the hardest to train ...and I've heard this from male gymnasts too so i'm not making it up :P I like watching pommel BECAUSE I don't understand it, like how is it physically possible to do those things...the smallest hand misplacement or slowing/speeding up of your rhythm can throw you off, try doing a few rounds of those one day.

    • @Alchamei
      @Alchamei 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I thought the same, but when I read the code of points its exactly like this:
      30. Salto arrière tendu avec 4/1 t. Salto bwd. str. with 4/1 t. Mortal atrás ext. con 4/1 g. (Shirai / Nguyen)

      How are the naming rules in MAG anyway? I've seen lots of skills are named after two gymnasts, but they don't have to do it at Worlds to have it named after and it would be too much of a coinsidence that two gymnasts would do it at the same competition.

      Alchamei Marcel Nguyen and Kenzo Shirai both did it and got it named around the same time

    I was just wondering if anyone knew why men's and women's gymnastics differ so much in the events? (Aside from strength, as female gymnasts are clearly pretty strong)

      Historically, sexism. As simple as that. The uneven bars were originally so that women could step on the lower bar to grip the higher bar easier without strain, for example.

      Magdalena Moss Don't play the sexism card please.

      emlrob yeah but back then woman weren’t so strong(but now they’ve caught up) and its also because men can generate more power. Oh also because its women’s artistic gymnastics and men aren’t that artistic. Just look at their floor routines its just tumbling. Those are just my thoughts though.

      Ashley Yoon But men aren't trained to be artistic in the first place, and that's why their tumbling is like that or am I wrong?

    Men gymnast are not afraid to do extreme and down right dangerous move. They also seems to have more speed and power during their acrobatic with the downside of less fluid in their movement. Just an observation from a laymen from watching the male and female video from the uploader
