Sense prevailed in the end (since gussets weren't replaced and werent worth the money). BEE-YU-TI-FULL
Thanks Anthony for this very informative video. I will never buy boots with gussets in the future as clearly they are too expensive to maintain.
Absolutely right 👍
Great repair as always, Guys.
I wonder what loake would charge for gusset repair.👍👍👍
I'd love to know...
I don't think they repair gussets according to their website
My cobbler replaced my gussets on my old Trickers Henry, he's a mate, said he wouldn't normally do it, to time consuming.
He's absolutely right....it just takes soooo long to do, and sooooo boring too!
So why do these boots with gussets get made?! It seems very bad for the industry of repairing and recycling good quality boots.
Chelsea boots are fabulous, I've a 5 year old cheap pair and the gussets are perfect. Boots are to be binned shortly as the Blake stitching and xtralite soles has resulted in stretched stitches where they've pulled through the sole a tad....I've a lovely pair of Cheaney to replace them 😊@@Pomegranate_David
I think I would have bought a new pair from your wonderful selection.
Or buy a new pair and have these done as well 😂
@@shoehealer8853 Even better
Sensible decision, I think, not bothering spending the money on the gussets, just not worth it. Another great repair, I'd have probably gone dainite studded sole on those but heard good things about the v-lites. Hope the customer gets many more miles out of them 👍
Boots look great but I would have spent my money on some tan barker hoppers 😊👞
I think it was worth £80 to have them back usable.
Is it worth having a pair of Clarks shoes re-souled and healed? Will I pay more than a new pair? I like them because they are so comfortable.
I would . I found a pair of loakes in a charity shop for £3 ! Cost me £50 for leather soles, heel stacks, clean and polish, the whole shebang, and they fit like a glove and bloody beautiful. But use a good cobbler.
@@heywhotsgoinon8286Clarks are not goodyear welted though.
Antony would have to have a look at them to see if there is a economical repair available, but likely a repair might be more than a new shoe as they won’t be Goodyear welted so not really designed to be repaired. We have done a few videos with fashion shoes in past, search for a video we did on M&S shoes having a commando rebuild or the next boots.
I would imagine that the gussets on a Trickers Henry would be more substantial am I correct? Saw on another channel someone referred to the cheapo heel stacks as leather board, don’t know if that term would be more acceptable to some. As ever keep up the good work 👍
I have 2 pairs of Loake Chelseas and a pair of Trickers Henry - the gussets on my cheapo 'made in India' Loakes (Hoskins) are absolute garbage! Only paid £75 for em though so, will go in the bin/to charity shop when they start going. The gussets on my 'Made in England' Loakes (Dingley) are a lot better quality and double thickness so not too bad. Then, we come to the Trickers Henry - absolutely no comparison and can't see them ever getting loose. Oh, and they are pressed cardboard heel stacks, no other accurate way of explaining it - Antony has ripped one apart to show me in the shop! I own 4 pairs of Loake boots in total and have no issue referring to them as what they are, I don't know why folk get so hung up about it - they are what they are.
@ couldn’t agree more, call out poor materials
Yes the Henry ones are a lot more substantial and the ones on the Cheaney Tamar are good as well. Thanks for watching.
Could you source the Vibram Cristy Morflex 4377 wedge sole for a moc toe boot… it’s a flat crepe sole … the one shown in the video has a small heel within the sole ??
Yes I’m positive Paul will be able to order it charlesbirch.com/sole-units/7999-vibram-4377-cristy-t-morflex-wedge-unit.html I think there was some on the counter at the end of the red wing video we did
Could Gerry not have had Topey cover sole
He was changing for comfort

Cued video showing the RM WIlliams factory making it look comparatively easy/quick that the factory setting likely makes possible: th-cam.com/video/q0B-WuLhcio/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sHFGihGbfk87Od69&t=207
I looked at their pricing once, I think they charge £20 a side.
