    This is such fundamental information at 1:02 that isn't mentioned anywhere in the instruction booklet. I had no idea the grill plate needs to put in flat side up for normal air frying. No wonder my fish fingers were soggy....

  • @marc0523
    @marc0523 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    What I learnt from this was that you need to leave the grill plate in, but upside down, when cooking normally.
    This wasn't mentioned anywhere in the instruction manual at all.

      I’ve been trying to find anything that says to leave the grill plate in for normal cooking. Their instructions suck. I just made fries without the plate but all the oil that comes out on the bottom coated them. Not ideal. Will try with the plate next time.

      It’s concerning that the plate is made of Aluminium, because Aluminium causes cancer …… how safe this is in anyone’s guess.

      I've been grilling on the flat side, without pre heating at all, and still putting out superb chicken and burgers on the grilling function. I guess I'll try the preferred way (from the video) next time !

    This was helpful. Thank you. The grill plate has rubber stoppers on the sides & I wasn't sure if I had to push it right down or if it had to be near the top for grilling.

    Just like a previous contributor, (Miner on Demand), I had to treble check that you have to pre-heat the Tefal air fryer for 15 mins before cooking when using the grill plate. Doesn't this defeat the object of saving energy by using an air fryer ? Other makes mention 2-3 mins warm up time. I will avoid using the grill plate.

      I am so unhappy with the lack of instructions with this EASY FRY & GRILL DIGITAL. I can't see anywhere on Tefal's site where they refer to this actual model. I phoned Tefal and did get an email sent with one link that was slightly helpful ie putting the grill plate either way up. The ridiculous booklet, with terrible drawings that came with the machine, is useless. I went back to my oven today very frustrated.

       When cooking frozen French fries, do you keep the grill plate in place for air circulation? Instructions are very short on information!

  • @Joeloflunik

    I bought this Tefal air fryer recently and I haven't as yet used it (fortunately). I have read the basic instruction manual and was surprised to learn that before I can use the grill you have the heat up the air fryer for 15 minutes (plus 8-10 mins cooking time) This defeats the object of an air fryer and in fact I can grill bacon and/or sausages using my conventional gas grill in about 10-15 minutes and it's cheaper using gas. A friend has an earlier Tefal model and she never uses the grill, it's a waste of time and costly she said. I'll be returning my air fryer and replacing it with a slightly bigger Tower fryer (without a grill) and it's £30 cheaper. I've already downloaded the Tower manual (which is very good).... it's far more explanatory than the Tefal one. I'll stick (excuse the pun) to the Tefal cooking utensils which are very good indeed.

    There is a Grill pre-heat function built in (on the right-hand side of the power botton) so why did you manually set it?
    Putting a cooked steak back on the original plate with raw juices is a dumb move.
    I have owned this air fryer and I like it but never get that nice crispy texture on my chicken wings (a single layer on the regular side plate side) or any other food for that matter, except for homemade fries, which turn out fantastic.
    I still need to try it out using steaks though.
