I typically use a clear satin Polycrylic spray, but any wood sealer should work! If the puzzle is going to be for a child who is still young enough to put things in their mouth, I may opt to use a beeswax wood sealer instead. :)
All of the pieces were 1/8" thick, and the letters were doubled up to give them additional thickness. You could also opt to use 1/8" for the backing and topper and 1/4" for the letters. :)
Just added that to the description - thanks for the heads up! You can get the files here: shop.happinessishomemade.net/collections/laser-files/products/name-puzzle-laser-svg
@@BrittanieRobbins I just updated my XCS software and tested it on my computer, and it's also coming up greyed out for me as well, but that seems to be because it's importing the letters as ungrouped in the first place now (at least in my version of the software). If you're still having trouble with it, feel free to email me at heidi@happinessishomemade.com, and I can send you a copy of the file with the individual letters.
Great video, Heidi! You’ve given me lot’s of food for thought!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 😃
OH wow. the last one.
Great video. What do you use to seal the paint?

Do you think that different textures between the layers would work for students with low vision that are working on tactile & letter matching?
There are noticeable tactile differences between the materials (particularly between acrylic and wood), so I do think that might work for your needs.
What were the thickness in the last two patternply puzzles? Back, top and names?

I also can't find the file anywhere just the puzzles you made here. Is there a link to the file?

How do you get the letters ungrouped? Thanks
Which software are you using? Most of them have an "ungroup" function that you can use to ungroup the letters.
@@Happinessishomemade same software. Creative space. I tried to ungroup but it was greyed out. Thanks!
