The card stock that was used to make the lamp housing, was used through several manufactured products in it's time. Camera housings, toys, even car and truck interiors. This toy housing would have been steam bent. The material used to assemble it is called buckram and was used to cover books.
I guess it was used as it would not heat up too much with the close contact to the bulb & would protect a 50's kid from contact burns.
I hate how it wasn’t restored to how it was my ocd is fkd now 🤦♂️

Thanks, I've always wondered what that materiel was
Beautiful restoration. Those early projectors are so sweet. I'm sure they made our grandparents very happy.
Thank you !! And my kids are happy too 😌👍🏻
When I was a child in 1977, 10 years old, I had a projector throw a roll of paper under Roynel brand, and I used to draw customized cartoons, static pictures, non movement, just one lens, metallic case and a simple bulb. The projector here shown has two lenses, giving effect of movement. Great!
Huggs from 🇨🇱 Santiago, Chile SouthAmerica. 😉😀
Thanks a lot ! Glad it brings back good memories. In the 70s, we had fun with beautiful toys, right?
@@TheFabrik Yessss.
Let me tell you something else. In 1980 my parents went to the US, Florida, and I asked them a View Master Projector and my brother a Fisher Price super8 film cartridges and projector/visor. And finally the bought them bougth. I yet have my VM projector, and many many reels.🥰
@@crist67mustang make a video of them
So it’s like Fliporama before Fliporama.

Yes, my fiendishly idiotic friend.
Yea basically
No it's basically the beginning of it's blood line
making the lamp cover replacement out of sheet metal was a stroke of genius sir. Beautiful job on the whole restoration!
Thank you ! 🙌
@@TheFabrik You are welcome 😊
Woul it not create more heat than if it was cardboard?
@@LucDesaulniers1 for sure ! But with that Led bulb it’s cold 😌
It is indeed a stroke of Genius, while I love leather for its ability to be completely Blacked out using Dye, it’s sadly a near lost art now and sheet metal is a very good alternative!
As a fellow Disney fan, it was nice of the TH-cam algorithms to recommend me this video. I've literally never heard of such a device till now! 😱
Glad you found a new item !👍
I have to say , I was surprised at how engrossed I was by this video and then I realized at how well you filmed it . Well done .
Thank you !! 🙌
What amazes me is knowing I was born in 1955 and this was probably a high end toy that we couldn't even afford.
Ditto! I was born in 1953. There were a lot of things my parents couldn't afford. And it's still that way for me now.
Likewise ! Born 1950; I can remember very similar projectors I saw at the homes of those families more affluent than mine !

Of course we do! Wait until we start getting around 120 years. Oh my gosh, the mischief we will get into!

As always, your love and patience for old things to restore it even better when they’ve left the factory is joyfully to watch. Your ‘cart trick’ to use the ace of diamonds deserves an even better ace of hearts 💕. Thank you yet again for sharing this beautiful video with the rest of us♥️👍👍🇳🇱
Thank you very much 🙏 Glad you appreciated it 🙌
That was why Mickey Mouse always loved... Behind the scenes creators always have new experience from oldiest like that...
That's gotta be worth a pretty penny. Never seen one. Beautiful job, as always, and I love how you demonstrate how they work. It'd be cool if you could incorporate a brief history on some of your projects.
Thank you Jeff, I’ll try to make more detailed descriptions :) 👍🏻
@@TheFabrik Cool 🤙
@@TheFabrik How refreshing somebody that has manners and actually says thank you when somebody complements them . It is unheard of now days. Most of the time just blown off no replies you worked hard on this my man I love it
Thank you Roger ! You bet anytime Fabrik 🤔
@@madmanmechanic8847 haha Roger. thank you so much 😃 Glad to read these words 😌👍🏻
I could never do restoration because I'd no doubt forget which piece went where and just end up with a pile of cleaned parts. Keep up the awesome work, these videos are incredibly satisfying.
Thanks a lot !! 😃🙌
Very nice
Wow! A precursor to the future skillfully revived.
ages have past, since these machines had been coveted, no longer seen as the wonderous piece of human ingenuity that they are.
stained and replaced, rusted and worn, these machines wither in silence and suffering.
yet even in the cold, uncaring world, unable to see the perfection in even the oldest of machines.
there are the faithful, those that know the centuries of curiosity, and hard work, in each of these relics.
these faithful few that rip away the cruel chains of rust, and remind these hardworking machines.
that no matter how old they are, they will always be the glorious creations of mankind, deserving of respect and admiration.
praise the wheel, praise progress.
I miss the time were toys used mains connected bulbs with cotton insulated wires inside ungrounded metal cases ! That helped so many kids to learn great things about electricity! :D
Fantastic job by the way, you're using so many different technique to do your work. Love the trick for the gold paint stamping!
Thank you Damien ! A steam live loco + a NIC projector = danger in the house :) If children have survived these toys then they can face up everyting 🙂👍🏻
I had a Thing-Maker as a kid in the 60's. Plug it in, heat the metal mold up and pour goop in to cook up little Creepy Crawler creatures. Hot enough to blister a finger. Safety concern? We didn't touch it until the creatures cooled, problem solved!
@Ray
I had one too.
Made fishing lures.
Then I ruined a rug in my room.
My mother was quite distraught.
It also helped some kids realize that human flesh is conductive! Yipee!
Even I'm happy! Hahaha 😂❤️ childhood still living inside me.
This is great transition, I'm sure kids back in 1950 enjoyed this as movie drive in and other entertainment. It's just... Lovely ❤️✨
Amazing restoration, but what I loved most was seeing the creative and hands-on way that my grandparents would’ve entertained themselves. Truly amazing.
What an awesome toy. Metal wood cardboard plastics and some braided cable. A time of change in the manufacturing world.
I think I would not be able to put each and piece again at the same place. This is absolutely amazing! Beautiful job. ❤️
I would never imagine this beauty could be a thing again.
If I've seen that junk somewhere I would have thought: Throw it in the bin!
But I guess if you have the knowledge and the skills everything is possible. 👍😊
Good thing you saved this and showed us the restauration of this.
Thank you so much ❤️
Thank you !! Glad you enjoyed 🙌
Some things should be donated to a thrift store if you don't want them as some people can bring them back to their original state.
I never knew there was a projector like that, great job in restoring it
Another fantastic restoration, thanks for the old movies
This takes "as good as new" to a whole new level.
Wow, the movie at the end was epic. The suspense, the drama, the action were out of this world, Hollywood can take note from this for future movies.
Almost forgot, a very good restoration but for the light bulb cover i would try to use hard leather or something similar to the original piece in order to be as authentic as possible
Meh, I don’t get the movie
@kostasastro, same
What a lovely piece of history, lovely restored.👋
watched the video with pleasure.😍
thanks !!
Thanks a lot my friend 😃🙌
This is why you are the best at your craft!
This is precious. Thank you so much for making this restoration and sharing it with all of us!!
Thank you for watching and commenting !!🙌
Golden days 😢 we are proud that we were born in the 80s the wonderful day's
That was a cute little film at the end! Great to see that old toy restored!
that's both a quite neat design and a little painful to watch as the end, this uneven blinking and image offset... but otherwise alternating those two sets of image make for a pretty well done feeling of animation, I like it.
otherwise great restoration, so many little parts ! an good idea to replace some rivets with threadlocked screws, it's probably better this way.
I´m a Disney collector and i love the projector and also your great work... Congrats.
Thank you ! 🙌
This is great for classic comic strips!
I like how you considered destroying the paper rolls right out of the box. It’s important to keep an open mind. Kudos to you!
Fascinating. I never even knew such a toy existed.
You save us this oldest vintage the history cars, wooden tous and more You are genius and pretty good designer and bulider!!!.
It’s a blast from the past
When you plugged it in, I was in fear of the magic smoke being let out!
Great work! The sheet metal replacement really improved the look.
Watching the film jump up and down disorientated me, I don't think I could watch that for more than a few seconds. Definitely not bingeable.
What a great restoration! It looks like you just bought it from the store. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you ! 🙌
Is it a restoration if he replaced the lamp housing with a new material?
On the road of 100K subscribers. 💪
Great restoration by the way. Mickey stories are always a success, this video will be too 😉
Thanks a lot my friend. Thanks to you ! You’re so inspiring 😉
Trabalho impecável! Peça maravilhosa! Parabéns!

REMINDS ME OF THE SHOW WHEN THEY WOULD FIX COOL STUFF LIKE THIS. 👍 GOOD JOB ON THAT WORK. 💯
Thank you 👍
Realmente genial tu trabajo, sigue disfrutándolo como lo dusfrutamos nosotros a través de los videos
Using the drill press to gently apply the gold paint. Mind blown. Thank you for your perspective
Thanks a lot Paul 🙌
it is amazing that the "movies" are in such good condition! What a wonderful toy!
Amazing restoration!! I was afraid that the original projector would catch on fire or that the bulb would explode, being so dilapidated.
Thanks a lot ! I was scared too 😃😃😃
Absolutely fantastic. Not only a great restauration job but I also really like your camera work. It really adds a lot
Thank you so much 🙌
thank you to bring back the beautiful memory
Thank you too for watching and commenting👍
Tout simplement admirable.👏👏👏 et en plus le film est encore visible..mille merci de sauver ce patrimoine du début de l’animation
Merci beaucoup, malheureusement la plupart des bandes étaient abîmées… il faudrait les restaurer aussi 😓

The Ace of Diamonds! I did laugh a little. Beautiful restoration, and such a charming toy from a time when kids were easily entertained. Very nostalgic and beautiful. 😊
Thanks a lot Pauline 🙌Glad you enjoyed
How wonderful!!
And how perfect that in the film Mickey is building something!
Amazing and the cartoon did not disappoint 😂😂👌
Astounding! How easily children were satisfied, no electronics!
"no electronics"
video shows a electrical cable being restored
So that’s how my mom used to watch movies
This was truly the best invention of its time
And it still is this will down in history for generations to come
That's precious! So glad to see it working again. 🤗
1950 mickey mouse looks cool old one ☝️
Bravo pour cette belle restauration ! C'est très émouvant de voir ces jouets anciens revivre. Continuez à nous enchanter... c'est un régal !
Very clever device. Great job on the restoration! It turned out beautiful.
I was surprised that the outlet didn't decide to self-destruct. You're lucky
One Word..........WOW!!!
The restoration on the projector is amazing. It was an excellent idea to make the lamp cover out of matal. I love your channel and content. Always waiting for the next restoration video. ❤🇨🇦
Thank a lot Ray !! 🙌
Beautiful restoration, very nice to watch !
What a fantastic restoration on this old movie projector. You did an amazing job on making that part out of metal. Everything came out superb. It's an amazing projector. Works great. Thanks for sharing.
Looking forward to your next video.
Thank a lot Lisa 🙌
This man just fixed history 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I enjoy restoration videos of all kinds but restoring something that's brought joy to countless children so that it can continue to bring joy to countless more has its own special sort of magic.
Thank you. You skill is amazing.
I love seeing all the comments in all different languages on this video
Que projetor legal! A reconstrução ficou boa!
I bought my daughter some old 2 for a penny Disney comic books and built her a box to keep them safely in when she was little. I believe they were 1930s? I think there's still a place for the old things to. They give us a sense of our history. I guess my daughter thinks so to, as she still has those little comic books. Glad I got them as I've never come across any others like them. Thankyou for the enjoyable video
Thanks a lot John 👍
What a great find! Watching great videos like yours inspires me to restore Tonka and Matchbox cars. Thank you.
Thank you ! Glad you enjoyed 😌🙏
Every rational person should be happy that there are people who appreciate the inventiveness of our ancestors.
Thank you very much.
Thank you ! 🙌
You, sir, are an artist! Respect!
Ahhh. Old movies are like old days. They are always improving! Fantastic restoration, my grandpa use to have one projector. I watched some movies on it when I was young. But sadly it broke down and we threw it..... 😔 😟 🙁
Oh that’s so sad 😞
One of the best thing about dude is that he never takes credit for himself when he achieves something he always respect us the audience and his team and he is polite all his videos we congratulate ourselves on this achievement more to come
Thanks a lot for all these kinds words 🙌 It’s true the best part of the job is when I share my work with you 🙏
very nice...great fun for a youngster....Oh that would be me at 78 yrs old
Interesting variation on the intermittent motion and guess in the old days electrical safety standards were somewhat more relaxed! Keep up the good work!
Thank you very much ! It was 110 volts at that time in europe. Less dangerous than 220… I guess 🤷♂️
Przepięknie jest odrestaurowany ten projektor wizyjny Pozdrawiam serdecznie. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Magnífica restauración que me trae un recuerdo muy entrañable…👏👏👏
This version video is fascinating but also satisfying both at the same time
Thank you ! Glad you enjoyed it !

Thanks a lot Brian 👍🏻have a nice day🙌
wow a masterpiece, never looked better 👍
To have something like this is just amazing, I'm jealous
A brilliant restoration, you did a fantastic job.
Very cool, great idea making that piece out of metal. They probably didn't so kids didn't burn their hands as easy. Awesome work bud
Thanks a lot !! 😌👍🏻
@@TheFabrik no problem
Me encanta ese sistema de pintura ese acabado que le dá!!!! Muy buen trabajo, un saludo grande desde Uruguay 🇺🇾!!!!!!!!!
Yea, you had my heart going when you plugged that raggedy cord in. And that's 220 volts not 110 like here in the states. 😊 You're a brave man . Really nice restoration tho. Looks great 👍
Thank you !! 😀👍
I could watch these kinds of videos all day. Nice job!
Loved every second of this blockbuster, not so much your weather outside though. Never seen a projector like that before, it's really a very cool toy. Glad you've given it a new life.
Thank you ! 🙌
