- Hello friends, I found this old Siemens phone in an antique store. It dates back to the 1920s and was made in Germany. Some of the parts of this phone are missing and the wire is damaged and rotted. In this video, I intend to I will bring it back to its former glory, the phone will be completely disassembled and I will change the wires completely, I will replace the microphone and speaker capsules, and I will also install new rubber bumpers under it. I hope you like this video.
In this video, we have these tutorials:
1- How to replace the phone cord
2- How to braid the phone cord
3- How to apply powder paint on the phone body
4- How to make a rubber bumper for the bottom of the phone
5- How to install Microphone capsule and telephone speaker

The bell reminds me of the ones on a sales counter, inside the older mechanical cash registers when the door is opened, also of the old manual typewriters when you need to push the carriage for the next line.
Yes, it's true, but for me, the sound of this bell reminds me of Hector Salamanca in Breaking Bad.🤠

Ok but it would have been actually hilarious if out of nowhere replaced the photo with a fresh identical one and carried on as if nothing was amiss, as if that photo was truly a part of the phone.

Why did you use a modern cord on the hand set? There are period correct cord covetings available.
Yes, your point is absolutely correct, it would have been much better if I had done that

Looks like a numeric pad would fit into that metal frame... I think, it would be an interesting project, to turn into an actual phone :)
Exactly, I have mounted the mechanism of a digital phone on this model of phone and it is completely usable👌❣
There's an article in Make magazine about someone who repurposed old phones to make it easier for his kids to call each other within their house using old landlines. This would be cool for that.

The serial number at the bottom 😢
Hello, my friend, I completely forgot about that serial number and after uploading the video, I realized it, I wish I could engrave it with a laser.🥲🥲

It's not really an authentic restoration as to be 100% legit one would have to restore the picture of that chap in workclothes pointing at the telephone poles. Decreased the value significantly as well as the historic & collectible desirability.
@fredperry523 This original photo was not for the phone and was pasted on it by someone later, so the restoration of that photo is not included, and in addition, some of the restoration of Hitler's face and its installation will be faked.
@@fredperry523 ...well, "ya CAN'T please EVERYBODY!!!"

I was wondering why you removed the paint on the inside, it lokked perfectly from my point if view. 🤔
Yes, it's true, but I used a powder paint that should withstand temperatures of up to 200 degrees, the old paint was destroyed at that temperature, so I decided to replace it with a new paint.🌷👌
Oooo! You should have put a photo of Her Flick from "Alo Alo". 😂😂😂

Don't get me wrong, this is a great video & I really enjoyed the restoration.
But I don't think I've ever seen a picture of AH set to such jaunty music in the background :)
That's why that surreal image of him breaking into song entered my head.
@johnm2558 Thank you my friend, you had a beautiful review of music and Adolf's image in the video
Fantastic how you restored that old crank-type telephone. It looks much better than before. Excellent work.
By the way, I noticed that there was a picture of Adolf Hitler on the telephone case earlier. What did you do with it, I wonder.

How did this crank model of phone works?
Hand crank phones were the first consumer telephones, which worked by electrical generators that used magnets to create electric current. Turning the crank rotated the “magneto,” causing a bell to ring that would alert the operator or another party on the line that an individual wanted to make a call.
Я не знал , что в то время были такого цвета провод..
Здравствуйте, какой именно цвет провода вы имеете в виду?
Seiman's is a beverage company I saw here on PEI where I was born. I noticed the phone was made by someone with the same name. Related?? Wouldn't be the same company?
It seems like there may be a confusion in your question. Siemens is actually a German multinational conglomerate company that operates in various sectors, including energy, healthcare, and infrastructure. Siemens is not a beverage company.
On the other hand, if you saw a beverage company named Siemens on Prince Edward Island (PEI) that is unrelated to the German conglomerate, it could be a coincidence that they share the same name. The fact that you noticed a phone made by someone with the same name could be purely coincidental and not necessarily related to the beverage company on PEI.
If you are curious about the connection between the beverage company on PEI and the phone manufacturer with the same name, it would be best to research further or reach out to the companies directly for clarification.
Well from a Family history I was saying that the name might be related somehow. And I know a lot of German people here in Eastern Canada with that name. There could be decendents whose Great Grand Father came from that area.

So, what happened to the Hitler picture? I'll admit, that surprised me, when I first saw it. I was wondering if you were going restore it, as well. I'm also surprised the antique store owner left it like that, with the picture still in it. That must have undoubtedly sparked a conversation about it, between you and him.

The German-made Siemens crank telephone was first manufactured in the late 19th century, around the 1890s . The Siemens crank telephone model was produced until the early 20th century, around the 1910s or 1920s, when more modern telephone technologies began to replace these older models.

A shoddy, poorly done restoration. No, I didn't expect an "atomic bomb". No, I didn’t expect that you could restore it to full fuctionality. What I expected was a device that at least LOOKED like it did when it was manufactured. Don't say that the fabric covered wires were unavailable. It's obvious that you have access to online ordering. I suspect that you didn't want to pay what it would cost to use the time period correct materials. 🤮 👎
