Hi Ralph! first of all, Great video, Great review! You almost answered all my questions and doubts about this babies. Just one thing I'd like to know, is the fan too noisy? My plan is to have the light attached to the camera by the hot shoe and I don't know if fan-noise could be too loud and gent mixed with ambient sound? Many thanks and best regards from Barcelona, Spain!
G’day. Thanks. Well for that specific use you’d find the fan too noisy I reckon. You can’t hear it when studio filming but when it sits on your camera you’d find it quite annoying I reckon.
@@RalphMayhewPhotography Hi there, many thanks for your answer! I've decided to buy it anyway, as it seemed an affordable yet effective option for ENG lightning. Just to let you know, I received it today and in the first tests I made I found that in-camera mic does filters fan-noise (I just turned on the light for few minutes, but I could hear the fan on). That said, so far so good! Will let you know how it works in real-life conditions, maybe you'd find my feedback useful. Thanks again and best regards!
Thanks mate. That’s very helpful research in deed. What camera are you shooting on? I’ve found my Nikon’s pick up all those noises - fans, anchor points clanging and noisy lens AF.
Hmmm it may be a fault with the light. Did you make sure the settings mirror what I had in the video. Sometimes the right settings are required for the boost to work.
Is a specific charger needed? I got one but cant charge it with any of my chargers. I tried every possible charger usbc and the other one. But it wont charge
Hey Ralph, when you charge your Ulanzi light, do you see anything on the display? I've tried connecting a 19v 3.42A 65W adapter but don't see anything on the screen when switched off. I can hear a very faint sound suggesting it is powered. I have ordered a PD65w usb charger and cable but not received it yet.
I’m pretty sure I see the lcd screen glow and a battery icon in the top right start to fill. I think I shared your problem when my charging system wasn’t powerful enough. I ended up having to use my apple laptop charger.
@@RalphMayhewPhotography thanks for replying! Really appreciate it. I've just tried an apple charger which says it's rated at 140w but that's not working... I don't know if that's because it might not be PD.
Which unit would best meet your needs?
Shush, you're a paid schill with a corny channel. Boomer fail.
ive got one .. its great & the soft box & grid they do is super cool too , you should try that also
Oooo good idea.

Hey Ralph! I’ve bought this light and it won’t go above 100% power, so I don’t have the 125% extra you show in the video. What could be happening?

As you would have seen in the video a charger that’s has a certain power is needed. I use my MacBook charger.

@@alphashortreels Maybe try charing it for a few hours and see if it turns on then, and stay on.
@@RalphMayhewPhotography it's actually still got 3 out of 4 bars of power left, so I'll see what the 65w pd charger does for me!
Can you send me the EU links for these two products, I want a light with both natural color light and the artificial red and blue color stuff
Won’t Ulanzi send to your location? The only link I have is their store.
There's an internal lithium battery. I find this worrying.
Is there an internal fan too?
Yes there is I believe.
Its possible to use while charging?
Yes it is 👍
Did you notice overheating issues?
No I haven’t. The fan in them certainly gets going and cools down the unit after use.
Would 2 of them be enough in a small 10square m studio. Probably will not even use the whole room for shooting videos.
I think they’ll be effective (not knowing your setup, but they are bright and easily controllable).
