If your hair is highly Textured a.k.a high Shrinkage, Dense, Thick and Low in Porosity .. you can use a titanium or a ceramic blow dryer. If your hair is not as Textured -OR- Dense -OR- not as Thick -OR- higher in porosity a ceramic blow dryer is best.

My hair is fine, med/low denisty and low porosity, after using a foam wrapping lotion I put my hair in one braid and air-dry. The next day I use my blow dryer to get rid of the Frizzies. My blow dyer is an Ionic dryer is it ok to use on low porosty.hair?

@@animedabest100 If you keep the ionic blow dryer on your hair for a long time then it will definitely not only damage your inner layers, it will damage your whole hair. Ionic blow dryers, dry your hair faster than basic blow dryers so the exposure time is a lot shorter. In the next few videos, I'm gonna show you how to determine you exposer time.

I straighten my hair every two weeks for the past 2 years. I have extremely frizzy 4a hair. I stretch my hair overnight then use a flat iron . Before I started this, I have tons of knots, my only style was buns which resulted in hair loss and breakage. I can not stand braids as an option. Once I started using heat, my hair grew from my shoulders (which it has been at for 5 years before that) to waist length in two years. I did recently cut off my hair until my bra strap because seeing my growth made me run away from regular trims and as a result my ends suffered. But after that initial cut my hair is already on its way back to waist length.
I have tried to do my naturally hairstyles but it results in breakage and single strand knot.
I do give my hair an occasional break (usually when I'm too busy). I wear my hair in two crown braids.
Heat can be good if used correctly!

Yes, I use heat. I tension blow dry every time I shampoo and condition. I have a higher porosity but need to keep my hair stretched.
I also wand curl here and there when my hair is down throughout the week. I don’t have ANY damage and have been doing this for over a decade. I don’t like long hair so I keep a shape that most naturals go for (I call it the lion’s mane).
I deep condition EVERY wash day and use protein treatments and Henna to help keep cuticles in good condition. I also trim my hair every time I come out of my crochets.
Heat isn’t the enemy if you don’t overdo it, buts that pretty much with everything in life...to much of a good thing stops being a good thing 🤷🏽‍♀️

I don’t use heat on my hair at all because it’s really not something I grew up with even during my relaxed days. I’m 20 and I’ve only used it 2 times for my elementary graduation and high school prom. So since I went natural it was easy for me to not use heat because I’m not that familiar with it. But I’m defiantly open to using it if it can improve my natural hair regimen.

Just last week I used the Revlon Paddle Brush Blow Dryer, for the second time in almost a year. I have avoided using heat, except my hooded dryer to dry my twists and for deep conditioning. I also have a Heutiful Steamer, but seldom use it because my very high porosity hair seems beyond limp and fatigued afterwards... Given this new information, I am open to using blow drying in my wash day regimen for the health of my hair. And, I cannot wait for your next video in this awesome series! Thanks so much!!!

I went natural almost 3 years ago and my hair is 4b/c, very dense, tangles very easily and takes forever to style. I’m not one of those naturals that always wants to slap on a wig. I went natural so I could wear a healthy head of hair on my head. So for 2019 I was planning on incorporating heat in my regimen but I didn’t know how to go about it. So, I’m so glad you’re making this heat series!

My hair grew like crazy when I was getting silk presses every two weeks. However my trusted stylist is gone. I tried the wash and go, my curls are amazing but I get way to many single strand knots and breakage. It took me months to figure out my hair likes a bit of heat. I know it's a natural no no but I use the revair on low every week to stretch my hair. My hair is so soft, moisturized and tangle free. It is way easier to braid up, take down and detangle on weekly wash day. It is growing back perfectly. Oh and my curls still pop on wash day.

I think it's fate that I saw this video. I was recently thinking about my hair care routine and when my hair was the longest. The answer was when I was younger and my hair was stretched via blow dryer and put into a protective style, i.e twisted ponytails with clips on the ends or braids with beads on the ends. It was blow dried properly with moisturizer and a heat protectant and had the appropriate tools. Honestly since I went back to those methods (with more mature styles that protected my ends, i.e buns) it has been the best for my natural hair and its growth. My hair does well with heat, and the most I ever use it is once every two weeks. This revelation only recently hit me after I completely gave up heat and realized that my hair couldn't stay stretched the way it needed to, which caused an inability to retain moisture. That method simply didn't work for me so I decided to go back to a time when another did and my hair has been flourishing ever since. Thank you for making this video because this is really a message that I wanted to share with others, despite my not being a youtuber or a professional stylists.

I wash my hair every week and i blow dry after i wash to stretch it. I’ve realised my hair is high porosity (fine 4a-4b hair) and it used to dry out ALOT so i started doing heatless methods but my hair would still be tangled after so more combing and breakage. I changed the way i blow dry ( i only use the cool setting using the tension method to dry then comb attachment stretch) and the products i use ( blow out creme plus shea butter on slightly damp hair) and now my hair is still moisturised and stretched and I’ve even managed to retain length

I went natural last January of 2017, I pretty much transitioned with flat ironed hair then did a mini chop. After wards, I listened to other people on TH-cam and stopped using a blow dryer and pressing my hair. For a while, things went ok, but then the single strand knots came in, and things took a turn for my hair.... needless to say, I stopped retaining length. So, recently I started blowdrying on cool, and no single strand knots! I could comb my hair! Now, I'm going to wash and deep condition, say a quick prayer, and see what my flat ironed hair will turn out like.

I have 3b/c hair. My hair is tail bone length. I don't like to blow dry my hair until it's about 90% dry & When ever I'm wearing my hair straight, I only use my flat iron after I wash my hair and don't use it again until my next wash. Using a silicone conditioner, in my opinion, has always provided an extra barrier so my hair would not break or burn. But like the comment right b4 mine , I'm lazy too 😉 I actually have not blow dryed or flat ironed my hair in about a year. Because of channels like green beauty, I have learned how to properly take care of my hair, It's always been long but now it's healthier and easier to manage.
Hope this may help someone. 😊🤗

I used to use it as much as once a week. Blow-dry and flat iron. I was super careful and never did touchups in between, used a great heat protectant, and only did one pass with the iron. It eventually caught up to me years later with thinner hair and split ends galor. Keep in mind I'm natural 4b and was going for pin straight hair each time. I chopped my hair last December and will only use heat once a year to check length. I used FHI brand blow dryer and flatiron. Very quality tools. I still love heat and just have to not overdo it.

When I was growing up with natural hair my hair was washed and blow dried every two weeks and styled in braids or twist. Over the years as a natural I have had my hair flat-ironed professionally, but the amount of heat always made it difficult to preserve my curl pattern and I always got some sort of heat damage. I tried blow drying my own hair a few times, but never found a technique that could stretch my hair without drying it out or causing damage so I just air-dry. I am open to learning proper heat use applications that could be safely used on my hair. Thanks

I went from being my 16-21 year old self who thought only straight hair was the only way I could be beautiful. Relaxers. A weave that caused an open gaping wound in my scalp. All until an over processed relaxer that took most of my hair out and made me wear short hair. Best thing to ever happen to me because I learned what kind of style compliment my face.
Now, I’m 27, 6 years into being natural and I like big hair. Can’t stand straight hair and it’s touching my neck and getting caught in my car door 😂
I don’t like hair past my collar bone, curly or straight. I wear a wash and go now and only care for healthy cute hair, not straight hair, long hair or any other culturally acceptable hair. Long as I look good and my hair is happy, I’m happy.

I have been a hairstylist for almost Thirty years. I just love you videos and the pure knowledge you serve..God Bless.. I use a side blow-dryer with ION or tourmaline technology . Blow drying area is larger so doesn't take as long and easier on my shoulders, arms and wrist. They also come with combs that can be slid on. Flat irons are ceramic and titanium. Also try not to blow dry hair air dry or bonnet dry to at least 60percent. Deep conditioning at least once a month is a must. (Carpal tunnel syndrome ain't no joke and can be career ending)...so faster drying time is better for me and the customer

I do use heat to stretch my hair only, but i try to limit it to once a month, however with the information you just talked about blow dryers, I guess I need to stop using it, cause it’s the basic blow dryer. Thanks so much for sharing this information, I didn’t know how much of a difference it actually makes what blow dryer to use. So, I guess I need to throw away my old basic blow dryer. But I must say that since I have been watching your videos I have been following your advice about low porosity hair, and why it’s important to keep it stretched it’s helped me a lot. I use direct heat about 2 or 3 times a month, off and on. I haven't straightened my hair in the 3 years that I have been relaxer-free. I'm not scared to straighten my hair, I'm just not in a rush to. I use indirect heat via hooded dryer when deep conditioning.

    1) The basic blow dryer is the cheapest but causes the most damage due to the lack of heat control.
    2) The ceramic-coated coils infused with tourmaline blow dryer is the safes because it distributes even heat and release negative ions.
    3) The titanium coiled blow dryer gives the best results because it produces the most negative ions, but it requires the most attention due to how fast it dries the hair.

I invested in a really nice and effective hair dryer...the one I have has natural volcanic minerals infused into the barrel to emit negative ions that drive tiny molecules deep into the hair which then hydrates and conditions on the inside while the outer cuticle layer lies flat and smooth trapping moisture and giving it a vibrant shine...yep I typed it straight from the package. I have been using this dryer for a year and never experienced any heat damage my hair always bounces back when I wash it. In the summer I air dry the winter I dry overnight depending on the style when I decide to do blow dry styles that month it’s twice a month.

Dear dear dearest Niki, I normally don't react on TH-cam or TH-cam video channels but I need to let you know this is exactly the reason why I started to follow your channel 1,5 year ago. My hair is I think High in shrinkage, dense, thick, and low in porosity but thanks to your various advice given long before I had the courage to go natural; My hair is as healthy and strong and beautiful as ever. These are not only my words but also the reaction of people around me. O and of course your protein treatment is key in achieving hair like mine. I live in the Netherlands by the way and I must say I love that you moved and started a garden in Hawaii you remind me of my mother she is also always testing and using stuff out of the nature for hair, body and health.
    Me using Heat:
I use heat when deep conditioning or if I want to fast forward pre-pooing or when using the onion juice. I rarely use it to dry my hair. I tried to stretch my hair by blow drying it to avoid tangles and knots with heat once but uhm I think I was afraid of it being too dry - even tho I was using the LOC method and sealing my ends with castor oil. And the moment I misted my hair with my spray bottle it would shrink. Also my ends would stay knotted because I was using the tension method while blow drying. This I learned from this girl she has her own channel named "
Efficiently Natural " and she has beautiful long 4B/4C hair. She has this video where she blow dries her 4B/4C hair ( Link: th-cam.com/video/69Kdoi8TmRc/w-d-xo.html&index=54&list=PLDA01pp37j7ompG0oIOXGhnv9GtfHPgoK ).
And she also showed how she kept it in that shape between washes (th-cam.com/video/piUdoTyYeGk/w-d-xo.html). But since my hair is stil TWA size when shrunken and almost shoulder length when stretched I gave up on it. But last week when I went to get some braids put in I realized that it would have been a good idea if I blow dried my hair before getting the braids. Simply because nobody is going to be as gentle and patient with your 4C/4B hair as you will.
So your video about using heat for our kinky hair especially 4C and so on hair is extremely appreciated and looked forward on. I have already a better idea of what I should look for since I am shopping for a blow dryer or blow dryer brush. And I have a question about using steam to flat iron hair and how about a heated straightening brush ? Does ion and ceramic technology apply in these tools too ?
    How I use Heat:
When deep conditioning or the onion juice and if I dry it I have a cap blow drying system you put it on plug the product on its nozzle and go.

I use a blow dryer to stretch my hair when I want to wear buns, do cornrows, or just to do another low manipulation style. I have fine hair and blow drying gives my hair body. I use a bonnet dryer occasionally to make my permrod sets and twist outs dry faster if needed. I only flat iron my hair once a year.

So I am really looking forward to your heat series. I already learned something new form this blow dryer video and will invest into an ionic hair dryer now. Hi! I have low porosity hair. I use at least one form of heat every time I wash, which is every 1 to 2 weeks. I may use my hooded dryer to condition (wearing a plastic cap), or my steamer to deep condition. I most always use my professional tourmaline ceramic blow dryer to stretch my hair. I have genetically finer hair, so knots and tangling is common for me. I’ve been able to really grow my hair out.

  • @naturallytls7468

OK I will go with the ceramic , in my opinion safer is always better. Best result is second hand for me especially if there is a warning behind it. Oh by the way I put heat on my hair twice, the first time was two years after I became fully natural and the second time was a three year gap before I did it again . As always thanks so much for the informative information, can't wait for the next topic in the series. Are you planning on adding blow dryers to the green beauty website, that would be SUPER great. Please let me know.

So helpful as always...Ive not owned a hair dryer in decades! If its a sunny day i try to let it dry outside. But Ive been considering buying one lately (having damp roots for an entire day is starting to get on my nerves). ..'Deva Curl' have a diffuser shaped like a hand, so you can bypass the longer hair and get straight to drying the roots. Its on the pricey side, but there are identical knock offs for under £10......The imagery you use really helps with the explanation so much.

Yes. (4c hair) I use heat to deep condition and blow dry. For the longest, i have been at a stand still for so long with my growth because my hair broke off all the time regardless of how long i deep condition( i do so everytime i wash my hair ;no longer than 2 week). I decided to start blow drying my hair because i don't have time to wait 2 days for my hair to *hopefully* be dry. I use the new cantu smoothing line and the one step Revlon. The cantu smoothing leave in also acts as a blow dry cream. I Only have blow dried my hair twice since i decided to start using heat more often but i noticed that my hair does not break as often (if at all) and somehow im able to retain more moisture. I love your videos and thank you 💕💕

Currently I let a shower cap heat my locs for half an hour as I have low porosity hair. Last winter I used a cheap hairdryer that was in the gym changing rooms whenever I would work out which was three times a week! Before I locked my hair I didn't know about keeping my hair stretched and it would take me 2 days to comb my hair through after a wash! It was excruciating. I rarely used heat at that time.

I stopped using heat probably 3 years ago. I noticed breakage in the crown section of my hair and I didn't like the way the blow dryer changed the texture of my hair. I have not completely gained back the crown section and am trying other methods from your channel to help. I got a handheld hair dryer a few weeks ago. I wanted to start incorporating protective styles and to do twists out on dry hair. It was still too humid and my ends were a little tangled trying to straighten. Yes, I had already trimmed my ends. I think it's good for conditioning to use a little heat. I was able to use a regular hair dryer on the low setting and my hair straightened with two quick passes through the strands. No heat damage.
