This info is helpful but I wish I could find someone with fine hair strands who achieved these goals who is not multi-ethnic. Protective styles without weave are nice when you have thick hair strands but fine hair it always looks sparse with flat twists etc and when you’re multi-ethnic their hair grows different and requires a different regimen and it’s so tough getting past bra length with thin hair that breaks for anything
My strands are fine and yes it can look sparse in twists. What I've done is embrace herbs in almost every step of my routine. I do hair masks on every washday. I use herbal rinse and I also consume herbs like moringa. These has helped my hair. When it comes to styling, try not to make it tiny. Keep it as big as possible, I'm talking 5 - 8 chunky twists and it won't look sparse at all. You can also do African threading.
Hi. My hair is thin and very fragile as well. The struggle is real,I know. But here is what has helped my hair increase density & become stronger: onion juice, hot oil treatments & deep conditioners. Shea moisture deep conditioner Manuka & honey is the truth! Onion juice fills in those blank spots in the hair. Less manipulation is key too! I do my hair as less as possible, but baby my ends a lot with light oil. Now this last one is a no no in the natural hair community, but changed the game for me: use grease . Not a lot but some to seal in your moisture for a longer period of time. Think of it as a barrier to hold everything in. This has really helped my hair retain moisture which is retaining my length! My hair journey is giving me life right now since I’ve added grease as my last step to seal. Thank me later.😃❤
I feel that adding stretching to my routine has made a world of difference.. I stretch my wash and go sets.. And have been able to prevent fairy knots and splits.. Of all the changes I'd made, that one small tweak to my routine I feel really has gotten me over the growth hump..
you should add a tip button, this is the most educational informed channel. Before finding you, i was like why are most of the natural hair people so easily bought out. or just opinion based. I like the scientific approach.
This video couldn’t be anymore correct, my hair had been at a back length plateau, until I started trimming and taking care of my ends. I’m starting to feel the difference in managing my hair more than ever!
"EMBRACE your hair. Don't cover it up." This is the KEY [secret] to a healthy mindset, great emotional stability AND healthy hair.💡 Straight facts! Thanks for saying this, lovely GreenBeauty. You're doing amazing, educational work for the culture. 😇
I've heard that environmental factors stress hair like heat and cold or exposure to sun and the other elements. I wonder if there's a science to it or it's untrue?
@@KarlaBedminister I'm sure this is true, but cannot scientifically prove it. This is why we have - and must use - hats, silken scarves, sunblock, moisturizers, humectants and the like to protect our temples and our antennae. 🙂
@@KarlaBedminister have heard about it but my low porosity hair haven't been affected by that, only if it get rained on because it will shrink, apart from that, I haven't experienced
I'd like to add an option to your stretched style list. I've been using a Revair to stretch my hair after washing, and it has been a game changer. I never use it to get my hair completely dry. I don't want to dry out the ends. It's very low heat even at the 'high' setting, and I use a leave in conditioner and heat protectant for good measure. I've not been getting any damage from the heat, and don't have to use any real tension for stretching. I only use 50% tension for what the machine does, very gentle. I can then twist, braid, or curl my hair without tangled ends or knots and wash day also allows me to keep my hair stretched. The only time I get knots is if I skip the revair and do a twist out or braids on wet hair, or if I curl after the revair and leave it loose for several days, just putting a bonnet on overnight without putting the foam curlers back in. So long as I don't do either of those things, I have very easy detangling before washing and no knots. I try to make it a rare treat to curl my hair and wear it lose, with its length really showing. Mostly I just try to keep it tidy and well groomed looking, and healthy, clean and moisturized.
Great video. It's a confirmation for me. At the beginning of this year, I started to twist my hair instead of braids, in my usual four sections. I then put in my usual ponytail. The other thing I started to do was stretch my hair. This along with twisting instead of braiding has made a big difference. My hair is very curly at the end but when I stretch it out, my hair goes straight and it doesn't tangle like it used to. I think if I had done that from the beginning, I might be further along. But I thank God that I have any hair, since I've had to deal with sickness, but the Lord has and is healing me completely. Thank you Jesus. Thank you, I will continue to do this and look forward to the next video.
I've always loved my hair but I didn't like losing my curls at the salon. So I stopped going and started working on my hair. I learned so much about taking care of my end. I deep condition one a week and add oil the night before. Game changer. My hair is growing thicker than every before!!! I'm so happy now. Now how to now get bored with the same style. Long hair is harder.
Yes things starts getting “real” at this stage. As long as you keep taking care of your hair, trust, length is being retained. Even if it’s not as noticeable anymore.
Love this series. I keep getting stuck at collarbone. It has grown past it but was lopsided. The left side was always shorter. Trying it one last time. This series is encouraging! 👍🏼🤗
Make sure you’re keeping your hair up at all times because collarbone length is particularly dangerous for the hair as it’s always rubbing against your clothes fibres, if you don’t like updos, wear silk (or satin) scarves instead so you can wear your hair down
@mokahgirl massage the left side more to stimulate the scalp to promote balanced growth and also pay attention to the left side of ur hair to detect any inconsistencies w maintenance. Cheers to healthy hair!!
I have to say, I really love your videos. They really make you wanna embrace and take care of your hair. Thank you for being so consistent with your channel, it is really helping us!
I'm currently at this stage. Aiming for waiste length in 2023 God willing. Throughout the spring/summer I wear my hair in stretched protective styles such as medium size flat twists and mini twists. Washing my hair 2 to 3 weeks at a time if wearing medium size flat twists. Mini twists I can go up to 4 weeks of wearing them. For the fall/winter months I wash my hair every 2 weeks. All year round I refresh my scalp with rose water. I also straighten my hair in the winter with 2 week space in between heat styling.

Team Mini Twists! I’ve been at bra strap length for the longest, but my ends are usually too damaged to hold onto them. Probably because I love twistouts a little too much and I only wash every 2 weeks. Will try adding hot oils to my deep conditioner too!
Try henna tea sis. Add the tea after you shampoo then add a deep conditioner (with the hot oil) on top of the tea and let it sit for 30 minutes with some heat. Henna is the truth for rebuilding and strengthening the hair strands❤
This video is so important to me. For years I didn't know how to care for my hair and it was always in tight braids and styles because didn't embrace it. I started watching green beauty about 8 years ago, finally I've made it past my neck and approaching bra lenght. I also learnt to wash my hair in braids.Looking forward to very healthy and beautiful longer hair. Thanks alot
True, next stop Bra Strap I keep my hair stretched from the root and seal and tuck away my ends. I still keep up with diet, exercise and supplements and scalp massages 💆♀️ too
I'm comin up to five years from bald.... I'm only at bra strap and it's thinner than it should be, I feel like I've lost two years of health to my hair, it was alwas getting dry and wash days felt like hell to me....an hour in the shower and and hour after the shower. But now... I'm washing my hair in twist....I can access my scalp and get my hair clean in 15 minutes. After which, I condition sections, grease m scalp and oil my straps...I do this twice a week and sometimes once a week. From start to finish it's 35 minutes...maybe 40 minutes and I am alot more comfortable with it
This is awesome glad I watched because I’m currently at mid length stage 😋 and my ends tends to get more dry more .. now I’ll be more mindful of my ends :) and give them more love
Thank you, big sis. I've been natural since 2016 and it's been a long process, starting with no knowledge, doing the wrong things, and experiencing setbacks alongside a few good times.😂 My hair is mid-back length but thin and short in some areas eg my edges. I've decided to be more intentional about my hair and health in general before the year runs out. I will be 25 in a few days and I want this new year in my life to be healthier, more productive, and filled with growth. With that being said, today, I did African threading with beads at the ends( I got the inspiration from the TH-camr@westafricanbaby). I also plan to finally try out your onion juice treatment starting in December moving forward( I hope my hair and scalp love it).🥺 Other things I want to do is wash my hair weekly, making sure my hair is moisturized, sealed, and stretched while in a protective style(two-strand twists and threading). Also, cultivate the habit of trimming my hair appropriately. I haven't found the right products for me to battle with dryness but I would figure that out before the year runs out. In the meantime, I will go back to your old videos and follow them religiously. I hope to come back with good tidings by this time next year. Thank you.❤️
I have some of your issues too. I've been natural all my life. Wishing you courage and knowledge on your journey. It's so good to see black women embracing their hair and not the "straight hair is good hair" thinking. I, too, by next year want to have successfully reached mid-back length again. Maybe you need to check up on your diet, water, sleep, stress level, exercise and use coconut oil or castor oil, maybe even avocado oil for dryness. Grease, too, maybe? Aloe vera diy gel or oil? 🤷🏾♀️
@@KarlaBedminister Hi, Karla, thank you. I do have to check up on my diet, water intake, stress level, and sleep routine and make a few changes, not just for my hair but for my overall health. I don't know about coconut oil, though. The last time I used it, my hair felt very dry. This was back in 2019. Same thing with shea butter. I stopped using both after that but yesterday after washing my hair, I decided to apply shea butter while my hair was still wet and it took it just fine. It didn't feel dry this morning. I plan to try it again but next time with a good leave-in or hair spritz. Aloe Vera is something I would add to my routine along with a simple Ayurvedic oil mix. Well, I believe we can achieve a healthy crown of hair. Thanks for the tips and I wish you well in your journey too, take care.
@@nininelson6108 Oh, yes. Thank you. My mother used to allow my hair to dry before adding grease and it swallowed everything but it would shine when we used shampoo and conditioner with coconut oil. It would be dry and looked thirsty but after a while her wisdom grew and she left it moist and it took shine the same day a few hours after washing. It would have shrunk badly and wet inside but extremely crusty outside. I'm trying to understand it more and more and as someone said we should study our hair to see if it needs washing instead of just washing weekly routinely when sometimes it may not need washing to cleanse. I don't use a lot of product on my hair and when I do they're mostly natural so someone said to just keep the scalp free or unblocked. I don't know how water only to the roots will help growth like Green Beauty said in another video. She said water as moisturizer in ends, cream the middle and herbal treat oil for ends. I'm wondering if all should be done the same day and reapply as needed bc there are penetrating oils and coating oils so idk in what order to put the oils. I guess no oil except for mask or pre-poo and then wash off...
@@KarlaBedminister Hi, I'm sure you're going to figure it out. I've never used grease and I'm not sure I would use it but I would say follow greenbeauty’s teachings and pick out what works for you. First, it's for us to understand and know our hair porosity, type, and texture and move ahead. You can switch a few things up when you begin to try things out. I believe this is where one of my problems with dryness comes from but I'm determined to find a solution. I do know my hair liked the Ayurvedic hair oil I made a few years ago so I will go back to it once I find a good moisture base. The oil contained olive oil as my carrier oil, castor, amla, fenugreek, and Brahmi. I intend to make it again but with a twist using grapeseed, castor, avocado, amla, fenugreek seeds, Brahmi, and bhringjai with drops of any essential oil that works for me. I would use this also to make hair butter when I finally know which butter would work for me. We’d figure it out, don't worry❤️
Wow i am glad I've been able to do all these that you said without even someone telling me. I wash my hair weekly, moisturized two times a week since i have extreme dry 4c hair. Now i am at the midlength stage. I am going to follow your advices closely since i refer to them.
Although it isn't the norm, and seems difficult for many naturals to do, I've grown my hair to almost tailbone length (about 1in to go} doing wash & go styling about 95% of the time. I shampoo. condition, restyle every 4-5 days, and trim about 3 times a year.
@@olidoce2348 I think it is 4a/b, not sure of my porosity but probably normal, density is medium-high. To be honest I never thought about any of that before hearing it in the natural hair community.
I'm glad that worked for you (lucky). I tried it and the tangles I get from wash n goes on my 4c hair is enough for me to say hell to the damn nah🤣🤣🤣 detangling was a nightmare. So now I stretch my hair with mini braids/twist or I safely install/and takeout protective style with extensions

Great video I know these videos are geared towards women and young girls, however as man I wish there was the odd man or young boy popping up now and again with hairstyles as it rare to see! This was very help as this video helped reassured I am doing right with my hair this stage, also any future daughters I have I can help care for their hair as well as my own.
In October I stretch my hair with a heartless blow out and Bantu knots I am now dusty my ends every three months and keeping them moisturized. I noticed more lengthy already.
Can you please elaborate on your regimen when you wash your hair with twists in? Do you apply conditioner with the twists in or did you twist it out first? How did you treat your hair after washing?
I never had a twa, I transitioned and need help! My main problem is consistency and money because I don’t know how to do hair at all and have to go to the salon for the simplest style. Like nothing except for wash/conditioner and a bun or 2 buns. That’s it🤦🏽♀️ Earlier this year, I cut my hair to my shoulders and now it’s about 2 inches shorter than bra strap length.
Weaves are bad only, because if done right you can grow your hair as long as but length; only if you take care of it while under the weave, BUT!!!! your hair will be thin. And that’s why I say they’re bad. So depending on how thin your texture is you’ll know if weaves for you. For example if your hair is already extremely thick then you might not care or can tell if your hair is thinning because you ever saw it at that length anyway lol again I say it’s bad because it thins out your hair and no matter how thick or thing hair is I would want to see it at it’s fullest Now wigs on the other hand are not bad At All!!!!!! (If done correctly) and being taking care of while under the wig. Look at cardi b just to name someone everybody knows. The only downside is finding a hairstylist who cares enough the be gentle and learn ways to not take out your hair. I feel that’s as rare as seeing a red sky yes it happens but it’s rare. I would looooove to find that kind of stylist. My hair would stay in frontals and closures :)
What is the real protein treatment you refer to? I seem to be stuck at collar bone length, but finding some new growth after adding Ayurveda and clay washes, thanks to your vids and Curly Proverbz. You are amazing and the geek in me enjoys your break downs ❤

Try not to do hairstyles close to the scalp or that expose the scalp, like small cornrows and mini twists. The larger the hairstyle, the better.
Yep I have fine dense 4c/4b hair it's growing but I get the single strand knots
Third eye angel is a fine hair natural
Rubs hands together and smiles with joy in her heart. I’ve been waiting for this one🎉
Her videos are all I need to watch. All others are nice too, but the details and explanations are the gem here.
"EMBRACE your hair. Don't cover it up." This is the KEY [secret] to a healthy mindset, great emotional stability AND healthy hair.💡
Straight facts!
Girls
@@KarlaBedminister have heard about it but my low porosity hair haven't been affected by that, only if it get rained on because it will shrink, apart from that, I haven't experienced
@@Jmwamuchemi Oh. Ok.
I'm loving your videos. How you explain everything so throughly and claimly. By the way your skin is glowing so beautiful.
Thank you so much!
I am entering this stage and i realized my hair wanted to stop retaining length.this is very helpful, thank you
Yes things starts getting “real” at this stage. As long as you keep taking care of your hair, trust, length is being retained. Even if it’s not as noticeable anymore.
@@GreenBeauty thank you so much
Really Love how she practices what she teaches. So beautifully simple.
I'm so happy, my hair has grown to 8 inches. I have put down everything I could think on that aided this growth
Your skin is GORGEOUS!!!
Thank you
Love this series.
I’ve watched your videos for years since I was a freshman in Highschool you taught me so much thank you❤️
Hey hun thanks for the shot out. Been looking forward to this.I can't wait for the next video about waistlength. My goal for next year. Thank you for this excellent content. Your bun is fire!!!!!
Hey thanks sis 💚💚
That's why I love mini braids and mini twists
I wash my hair weekly too and these kinds of hairstyles allow that.
A voice so soothing 😌😌😌
Hi GB if it wasn't for your advices, knowledge and videos I'm telling you my hair wouldn't have reached this length. Maaaan you're APPRECIATED 😘😘
What's your length?
@@KarlaBedminister Hi Karla my length is now bra strap. my hair use to give me the toughest time in the world, it could never grow this long yet I have a rather thick texture
now with GB I got to learn how to retain length and maintain moisture in my hair. thank you asking, ❤
I know this is unrelated to hair but can you talk about your skin care routine?? Your skin is flawless! And also I always see your nails and they are healthy and long! How do you get it to that stage without it breaking?? I need some help in both of these departments. I would really appreciate it! Thanks for your awesome content btw!

Great video. Simple, and the rate of speaking works for those of us who speak a language other than English.
I definitely got from TWA to BSL with mini twists and my growth oil with herbs. I had a phase of minimal growth due to anemia....which was resolved. So now I need tips to get to my goal of MBL (I'm at 15" @ BSL and 20" is MBL) Thanks much!
Me too! My goal is 20” currently at 16.5” feeling stunted 😩
@@Offlineee_ be sure to take in enough iron, B12, and Vit D. The anemia really slowed my hair growth for almost a year. I'm also paying attention to my protein treatments....we will see. All the best
@@Offlineee_omg I’m at 10’ & can’t wait to be at 16’. I’m a bit short so 14’ is my BSL. Wishing you the best ❤

Been waiting for this since the first one. Thank you so much Green Beauty 💚
I am at the mid lenght stage and I trust your advice ( look at your thick long healthy hair) so i am gonna get my ends trimmed by a professional then I am gonna do mini twist...
Ok now I stop by for hair tips... But it's the Skin for me 😊 your skin looks amazing beautiful... Thanks for another great video
☺️ thank you
wonderful content as always ! with evidence of u recording your own hair growth years before, thats precious !
For sure consistency is the point I gave up at certain point and I saw a difference thank you so much for always sharing.
I've been following your channel for a while and I'm oast armpit lenght now almost bra lenght thank you so much !
Consistently and simplicity true that!
Mama i made it! 🎉 I followed all your tips from the TWA video and now i'm here! Gonna put my hair in twists later with my bf and waist length here i come!😆😆😆😆 Thank you for passing down knowledge sis, you are an earth angle ❤
I would love if out there where a relaxed hair chanel with your vision
Team Mini Twists! I’ve been at bra strap length for the longest, but my ends are usually too damaged to hold onto them. Probably because I love twistouts a little too much and I only wash every 2 weeks. Will try adding hot oils to my deep conditioner too!
Try henna tea sis. Add the tea after you shampoo then add a deep conditioner (with the hot oil) on top of the tea and let it sit for 30 minutes with some heat. Henna is the truth for rebuilding and strengthening the hair strands❤
@@Dreamgirlhav please how do you make the henna ?do you add hot oil to the deep conditioner? Thank you
This video is so important to me.
Absolutely brilliant breakdown of how to care for my hair, loving the ‘simplicity’🙏🏾💞😏
My hair grows best in two-strand mini twists!! Like sooo fast!!!!
Yes, mini twist are the truth 🙌🏾
Thank you for this video! My hair is between arm pit and bra strap length. Currently trying to get it to get past this stage! Very helpful!!
These animations are 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much for sharing even though my hair is relaxed I've learnt a lot from your videos
This will work for fine to medium strands. I have coarse low porosity hair and 2 pigtails braids work for me.
Thanks for another great advisory video. Yes consistency is the way to go.
Was olanning on getting braids, but after this, decided to leave them in mini-twists to the middle of next year!!
The moment I’ve been waiting on…. For this video to post.
Thank you for your videos and hair products. I use them all.
Could you do a video on how to do the hairstyles recommended in this video? Specifically mini twists?
Wow i am glad I've been able to do all these that you said without even someone telling me. I wash my hair weekly, moisturized two times a week since i have extreme dry 4c hair. Now i am at the midlength stage. I am going to follow your advices closely since i refer to them.
How wonderful. I've made positive change because of you.
thank you girl i need these videos in my life every time I get frustrated with my hair you pop up and get me back on the right track
Although it isn't the norm, and seems difficult for many naturals to do, I've grown my hair to almost tailbone length (about 1in to go} doing wash & go styling about 95% of the time. I shampoo. condition, restyle every 4-5 days, and trim about 3 times a year.
Whats Ur curl pattern, porosity and density?
Am actually growing my hair out with wash and gos too, now that i finally got the hang of it.
@@olidoce2348 I think it is 4a/b, not sure of my porosity but probably normal, density is medium-high. To be honest I never thought about any of that before hearing it in the natural hair community.
@@dlilwon Great! Happy hair growing.
Consistency and simplicity. 📝

I live in a climate, our winters get pretty cold here. Are mini twists and low buns good for colder climates? I've never went all winter with my hair out. I want so bad to not hide under wigs and crochet braids. Please give tips for colder winter wear for natural hair when you are able. I love your views and format! I just watched one of your old winter care videos..very good.

Guess I need to wash more often, thanks for the video, I need to pass collar bone stage
That’s it🤦🏽♀️
Earlier this year, I cut my hair to my shoulders and now it’s about 2 inches shorter than bra strap length.
Loved this! Thank youuu. Definitely challenged myself recently to do weekly wash days and I have seen results already.
Part 2 is here love it
Martin Voice: you go girl ❤
Weaves are bad only, because if done right you can grow your hair as long as but length; only if you take care of it while under the weave, BUT!!!! your hair will be thin. And that’s why I say they’re bad. So depending on how thin your texture is you’ll know if weaves for you. For example if your hair is already extremely thick then you might not care or can tell if your hair is thinning because you ever saw it at that length anyway lol again I say it’s bad because it thins out your hair and no matter how thick or thing hair is I would want to see it at it’s fullest
Now wigs on the other hand are not bad At All!!!!!!
Thanks
Do u use any supplements ?
I just love this...mini twist here I come
Thank you so much for making this video.❤️
What is the real protein treatment you refer to? I seem to be stuck at collar bone length, but finding some new growth after adding Ayurveda and clay washes, thanks to your vids and Curly Proverbz. You are amazing and the geek in me enjoys your break downs ❤

Hi, new to the channel, New sub!
Ive got a question. Whenever i wash my hair, i blow dry it, because if it reamains wet too long i start to sneeze. Should i still twist it while wet, let it air dry, wrap it with towels and a bonnet?
Not much people every discuss this.
If wet hair makes you sneeze and that bother you, It’s okay to blowout your hair on wash days. Just make sure to keep the heat level low.
