Moans and niggles:I ordered the blue (titanium, FKM strap) in mid-December. I finally got the watch on March 6! Customer support was terrible and deceptive throughout the process. No leather/leatherette watch roll. Still haggling with them over tat issue.Lume leaves a lot to be desired. Their photos show the watch as being a much lighter blue than it actually is. The hand set could/should be a little wider. At certain angles, it's hard to distinguish!
Good stuff: The difference in on wrist feel between this and my Orient Kanasu and Mako 2, the strap is fantastic. Love the FKM. It is a good looking watch in person. The "legendary" NH 35 is plugging along just fine. Since I got if for $107, I can live with the niggles.

I ordered three watches from these folks and after six weeks I packed it in. I had been outright lied to several times. Only after I put in a complaint via PayPal did I ever get their interest. And wouldn't you know *just* before the auto-refund countdown zeroed out I suddenly got my watches. The sea turtles that I got do NOT have an NH 35 - they hand wind but do not hack. The back play on the bezel is awful - I can frequently twist it backwards. The honeycomb lume is OK but nothing special. Customer service is just awful. Well, maybe worse than awful. The watches are OK, but for like money you can do better. Caveat Emptor!!!!!

You asked about bronze... is anyone picking them up anymore, or even looking? Not sure! I'm not buying anymore, but the one bronze piece I did purchase back about 6 years ago was based on your recommendation/review - the Borealis Oceanaut. And I adore it! The hearty brown leather strap which, despite it's high quality and wearability, is long gone. The watch now adorns my wrist via an orange silicone tropic. The case has plenty of patina that has developed from wear and travel (sweat, of course, has contributed - but also sulfur steam vents in Yellowstone, the salty Pacific around Oahu when in the water scoping sharks, etc, etc... each place literally becomes part of the watch's patina, and I think of that each time I wear it).
The case now has a rich, dark, matte, veriegated finish (so it exhibits the passage of time in multiple ways) and, I think, increases it's wear versatility. It commands at least 33% of my wrist time, despite the fact that I have many, many (too many) timepieces, both modern and vintage.
So, I have no interest in a new bronze because I love this one (my only bronze watch, BTW). You get bronze not for how the case looks new (shiny bronze is not the most attractive aesthetic - I think many would agree), but how they look 2, 5, 10 years down the road. Weathered and beautiful... reminding the wearer of times past and times that are yet to be.

4:27 People dis the cheap Seiko movements because somehow they have to justify the HUGE markup for COSC certification that delivers a TINY relative improvement in performance. A minute or two in a week is less than most of us spend leaving comments pretty much nobody will read - incl this one! To be clear: I am all for spending money on a really good watch - I crave the Chronomaster - just don’t dis a perfectly good low-cost movement like the Seiko.

I’ve been watching your videos for over two years, now. I’ve purchased several watches you’ve reviewed, and have been incredibly pleased. My wife and I don’t have the budget for the bigger brands, so most of the collection is Casio. I wore a Wenger in the hospital when my first daughter was born, and it’ll be given to her husband when she’s older. With another daughter coming in a few months, I’ve been trying to figure out what to get for “her watch.” This might be the ticket; very reasonably priced, and definitely my style.
I plan on wearing my “daughter’s” watches at different occasions through their childhood so that the photos show it, hopefully making the gift more meaningful.
Thanks for all you do, Jody.

My experience with this company was not good. It took two months to get the watch. When I messaged or emailed them, I got zero response. I ordered the cool sea blue watch and I got a dark blue watch. My whole experience sucked from ordering to opening the package. Horrible customer service. If you get a watch that is good, then you are fine. Have a simple issue or a complex issue, it doesn’t matter, you will get nothing for help. I understand you had a good experience with them, but the internet is full of bad reviews and complaints that I think would be fair of you to mention because otherwise it looks like you are sending some people to be suckered.

I've just bought one of these in bronze, yes I know, bronze in 2024! I've a scurfa diver one in titanium so didn't need another. I want to like this boderry but the movement is just awful. It's noisy and feels grainy when adjusting it. The rubber strap was too stretchy and I didn't get the promised watch carrier like you did. The lume in the honeycomb is a waste of time. Nice looking watch, but it bothers me a little that the indices don't line up with the honeycomb pattern. But that might be an impossible task from some sort of geometric point of view?

    • @P_Ezi
      @P_Ezi 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It bothered me also.
It turns out it is _not_ possible to line the markers _exactly_ on a honeycomb pattern, since the 2 o'clock marker can never be exactly centered on a honeycomb cell if the 1 o'clock marker is on a honeycomb cell. It has to do with irrational numbers based on multiples of square root of 3. However, if they made the honeycomb grid just about 14%smaller (smaller cells), then both the 2 and 3 o'clock markers could be _very_ close to aligning on the center of the cells. It could even be close enough that it wouldn't bother those of us who notice when markers do not align with background patterns.
So the answer is: Not exactly, but it could look close enough to trick our eyes very effectively with a little more effort.

I like the hexagon indices a lot (edit: they just look like hexagons, due to reflection from the neighboring hexagons?), but I don't like how small they are. Similar issue with the hands, they appear too short for the dial, especially the minutes hand. If the bezel was wider (and dial diameter smaller), it may have fixed that. Love the seconds hand. Final niggle: "Sea Turtle", the "T" in Turtle should be in caps (especially if not inserting a space), it's two words. Nice price for a Ti case. Great review!

It needs longer and less tapered fence post or hypodermic needle hands. These NH movements can be amazingly accurate or very slow or fast. I'm wearing a NH36a right now that is COSC accurate. Amazing!

My one nh35 is running close to zero. It's drifted to about 1-2secs a day after being left sitting and re-wound every couple weeks when I wear it. My other is running over 30 seconds a day fast (however, that one froze outside). That's vs my sw200 or 2824 (glycine) which is running about 10-12 seconds. I feel like the nh35 is a little miracle of a movement for the money and can compete with the big boys if regulated. I say big boys as in movements even better than the sw or 2824.

The collection changes but is no longer growing, that said, I generally never buy these Chinese watches and only have about four or five micro brands in the collection as well. Is the Water Resistance 100m or 200m? Ijust bought both the titanium (Titanium Grey BD-A07T 2024) and bronze (Black BD-A07B 2024) Seaturtle.Ocean versions. Both have 200m/660ft stampted on the rear plate with the bronze also showing 200m on the watch face whereas the titanium shows 100m water resistance. I'm guessing these are new revisions for 2024 with a change to 200m WR? The Boderry website and the watch images still show 100m WR for both watches so I'm unsure whether this is just a marketing exercise or a genuine upgrade. Either way, they look fantastic, offer excellent value and I'm very happy with them.

I bought the bronze version of this watch for around the same price. I guess they had to cut corners further to allow for the bronze case because they put a Miyota 8015 in it. Which wouldn't bother me too much, I've had a couple other watches with an 8215 or an 821A movement, but this one stutters really bad! It keeps time but it's so bad there are times where it looks like it has a quartz movement as the seconds hand will stop and jump a whole second at a time.

I thought it looked fantastic in the video so I bought one (with the discount, of course!). Totally agree with Jody on pretty much everything. It’s solid but light. Looks amazing, in real life. The hexagon thing is so unusual, love the aqua terra hands and submariner blobs indices, general look etc. Fantastic specs. Bezel is very loose, and just doesn’t ever sit in the right position. And maybe I just lucked out like Jody, but it’s only losing about a second a day for me, which is pretty incredible.
The only things I disagree with are that I feel the lume is worse than he said, it’s bloody terrible. It’s hard to get it to glow at all. But the hands are way more legible irl than he gives them credit for. So one swing, one roundabout! All in all, though, a hell of a watch for a hundred quid.

Seiko can be accurate but the precision is lacking. My 6R## an 4R## movements can be regulated to +-1s/d on wrist and can be consistent week to week if I only take it off for showers, etc... the positional variance of all my 6R 4R is around 30s. Also takes a while to settle in each position.
My DUW3001 with factory regulation is -3s/d on wrist with max positional variance of 4s. Most positions are 0 or 1s and settled quickly. Just one position was an outlier for some reason.

Sweet beater/daily watch. But for me that role for me is a cheap Casio MRW-200h, W800H, on Vario leather straps, or when wanting a stainless the Addiesdive Submariner Quartz. Love cheap quartz watches that look pure class. My only automatic a recent Steeldive 1953 has only lost 3-4 seconds in two days, I'm a quartz guy and prefer Miyota, Citizen, ect, but this Seiko NH35 has been extremely impressive. This Boderry is really nice and titanium for that price is amazing, and with sapphire glass, thats awesome. My only complaint is the hour hand is really too short for me. Might look really great in black.

This is incredible for the price! I'm really impressed. I'm a little surprised they didn't go for the scalloped bezel like the 300M, but I dig it like this. 😎👌

I have the bronze iteration and I purchased the titanium for a friend. Both of them possessed the Miyota 8015 movement (old non-hacking). The lume is miserable and neither iteration had lume on the bezel. The lume lasts less than a minute on both versions that I purchased.
My bronze version came with both a leather and a rubber strap. But, one of the stays on the rubber was broken and there are cracks at the end of the strap where it attaches to the lugs. Used? Idk. I lambasted it in one of my videos where I was wearing it in the wristwatch check section.
It is disappointing, since I have purchased four watches from the brand and two of them are great. The 100-metres water resistance is unacceptable for a watch marketed as a diver.

OK. It’s not just a legibility issue with the hands and they don’t just get lost because of the hex pattern on the dial. It’s with the weird lume application and long pointy end to the minute hand and extra short hour hand that give them a weird, teeny, out-of-proportion, T-Rex, Rolex Explorer 214270 Mk I look, and make then disappear.

The day this video was published i went to check out the site and found a watch i liked. Picked the checkmate watch with the turqouise face and put it on order. The website said on multiple places I'd get tracking one or two business days. I am watching for tracking and it doesn't come. So after 10 days i reach out and get the response back that they are sold out and the factory is making more. "Be patient". Not a question. A demand. Still have not gotten tracking. Now on the website the watch is marked sold out. But it wasn't when I bought it. Not a great first impression.

I just received my watch and I did not get the leather watch roll. I also have one weird thing that does not appear in your video. The dial says 100 m, but the back of the watch says 200 m! What the heck! Did they change something? Can you please find out for me? Because I cannot get through? I would also really like to have that leather watch roll.

Ah Jody: are you so jaded about bronze case watches that you couldn't at least alert us that it, not the titanium model, is the real looker of the Seaturtle range? Something about the warm bronze tones of the case, hands and markers that does a much better job complimenting (or at least offsetting) the intensity of that honeycomb dial. I wasn't sold on the titanium even though I agree it's a tremendous value. But the bronze? Color me tempted. Only thing giving me pause is there's not much turn-down to those lugs. That and the 48mm lug-to-lug makes me wonder how well it would sit on my 6 3/8" wrist.

NH35 movement, so a dial and/or hand swap is always a possibility! White broadarrow hour hand and red minutes hand would look nice on this dial.

I have both the titanium (w/ the stuttery Miyota) and bronze (w/ good old NH35) versions of their Voyager. They are a bit unwieldy, could definitely use a better lugs design/setup, but they have killer specs and rarely anything comes close to their value-for-money.

Definitely good value for the money, but I have reached peak diver... Regarding bronze watches, I got my first one a few weeks ago, a Wise Adamascus AD8 and it is one of my favourite watches, it gets a lot of wrist time. The bronze / green dial combination is gorgeous.

I bought one a couple of months ago and to be honest it is just okay. I bought it because of the honeycomb lume which is crap. The movement also feels horrible, if you manually wind, it feels like it has gravel in it. I may have just got a bad one, but honestly for the price I still wear it.

Nice entryway into owning a titanium watch. I thought the lumed hexagons on the dial were a nice touch. Also, many much more expensive watches cant match the overall lume of this watch. This was is not my cuppa, but still a good option.

    Would love to see it!
