Hello viewers! In this video we will apply a 90% bike overhaul with some bike restoration tips and maintenance. We replace minimal bike parts and components in order to maintain the 100% integrity of the bike. We will maintain the original paint of the bike as it is. The MTB brand is MONGOOSE which is well known for BMX bikes in USA (www.mongoose.com). Some components are suntour such as the crank and their well known forks, the Suntour XCM.

Nice to see more Mechanics out there fixing up nice bikes, but I got 1 big tip for you. Don’t use Grease in cables always use a lubricant grease is too thick and can catch sand easily, a lubricant is much thinner and will “lube” your cable better than grease. Which results in better and faster shifting

Howdy Coggie, beautiful job on this bike! I can tell you love the work you do. I'm a bike mechanic in Argentina and I always use a resin polish to really bring up the colours and the shine of the frame before assembling the bike, you could try it and see what a difference it makes too! hay veces que si la laca esta muy vencida en la pintura queda medio opaca la bici, pulirlo con resina resalta el color?

@@mrmarmolerox siiii, tenes que darle bastante y quizás no va a quedar brilloso porque le queda poca laca, pero revive el color como loco!
@@Jenoxen yo uso un producto llamado Autopolish que se consigue en Argentina, vendría a ser una pasta en base a resina de gama media aquí. Bastante fácil de trabajar por ser líquido y revive muy bien la pintura (también remueve los rayones superficiales fácilmente)

Suggest using threadlocker on the chainrings instead of grease. And bike chain specific lubricant for the chain
Well done restoration pero boss pwede po kayong gumamit ng acetone (usually used sa pagtanggal ng cutics sa kuko) pantanggal sa sticker residue.
Try ko sir next time, wd40 lang kasi meron ako na madalas ko ginagamit. Salamat!

You should place the bearing back in the race they came from. The wear patterns will match and not cause additional damage to the race

Everything was cool but never use grease on the spring and the damper only the seals because the grease and the oil from the lowers will mesh up and dont use grease on the bolts threads use thread lock they might get loose
A year late, but it depends on the fork model. Follow what the manufacturer recommends; my manitou fork calls for “generous greasing” of the spring and damper seals. With that being said, you have to use the correct grease, one that’s designed to come in contact with fork oil and doesn’t interfere. I use slickoleum, as the ‘prep-m’ grease manitou used to make is prohibitively expensive lol

I just restored a Bianchi MTB, can't remember the model. Anyhow, after loads of cleaning, new drivetrain, brake pads, cables, adjusting here and there, throw in a set of fenders.. damn.. drives great and doesn't look half bad. I would call it a win-win if an old quality bike gets a new life and somebody actually benefits from using it. Recycling at its best.

Nagagamit ko naman ito ng maayos ngunit alam kong hindi tiyak ang aking seguridad. hindi ko alam ang sisimulan sa pagaayos nito at habang nagaaral patungkol dito mula sa mga video sa internet ay nadala ako sa iyong youtube page. Naway ibless ka pa lalo ni Lord dahil sa iyong mga mabubuting gawain. :D :)

Howdy coggie just a fyi when handling brake rotors wear clean rubber gloves because the oils on your skin can can contaminate them I've learned that the hard way by not being able to stop so now I wear gloves when changing rotors just my 2 cents but other then that great restoration as always

I have a 2 different types of crank puller, you may look at my previous bike restorations as I used it. Unfortunately the crank has been stuck so strong and the crank thread has been loosed so I have no choice but to cut the spindle.

Don't Use Coke Use Degreaser Not Coke But If You Want Remove The Rust You Must Be Using Rust Remover Not Coke
No... Rust remover like rust converter has too much chemical that will damage the fork stanchion

2 thing that you shouldnt do on rotor and brake pads, dont touch the surface. Oil (human oil) on your hands can contaminate it. Use sand paper to clean and make the surface even.
