I love Robert. So many people talk about how he looks. Don't forget that we ALL age. He was a teenager when he started The Cure. Sure he was cute. Sure he was hot. He's not now, he's past middle age. But, look in his eyes, listen to his voice. That teenager is still there, it's just seen the world.
Oh I think he's still cuuuute! He IS hot! Just wait until he gets back in shape! He will look like his Wish days again. You can catch glimpses of his cuteness here: th-cam.com/video/5pEKRPzJfNQ/w-d-xo.html
You are finally a person of truth. So many haters out there. I feel the pang of Robert getting old as we all are. He is a human treasure. He will probably outlive all of us. Thank you for your comment.
He tries to look at every person in the room, not just a mass of people. He is making a connection to the people who appreciate the music he has created. Humble.
My god, the opening notes of this song just take me right back to Spring 1989 when I first popped the cassette in my tape deck, sitting in my bedroom with the window open and feeling like life held unlimited possibilities and friends would always be there and never die.
Even after all of these years he is still adoreable and is still married I believe to his high school sweetheart. They don't make too many like that anymore. Amazing musical talent. Would love to see him in concert.
It was surprising to see Mary in modern times at the induction ceremony. She looked like stars in her sparkly, gypsy shawl. I have no idea what their marriage has been like or is currently like, but I know staying together that long is rare.
dave wheless Yes, those eyes man, those eyes.....its like he's trying to memorize every moment, every fan, every heart. He has no clue just how many of us there are...eternal love for this beautiful soul
I'm almost 48 yo and first time I've heard Robert singing it was like "wooow what a voice ! what a charisma !" I'm still in love with what he did, does and will do (I hope) ! Robert Smith is the best artist (alive) from end of 70's ... God bless him
Gracias Robert.
This is a great clip. He's clearly very moved - and still, after all these years, slightly bemused and puzzled - that so many people have turned up to see his band!
unemployablegraduate agreed, still a humbleness to him and gratitude! Loved him since 1985.. going to see be traveling from Florida to see the cure in concert on 10/5/2019 at ACL in Austin, TX... will be my first time seeing them after all these years and I am beyond excited!
I wonder if he knows what he really means to everyone? I wonder if he knows that when I see his face, I cry? I wonder if he realizes the depth of which he touches my soul? Robert Smith you embody a warmth, peace, and tranquility that no other artist will ever be able to touch. Your presence is righteous!
Robert is beautiful inside and out, at any age, at any size. He has the voice and face of an angel; at any age, at any size. I would LOVE to give him a long, tight hug🤗
I went to a Cure concert just yesterday evening, in Florence, and now I'm here crying my heart out while watching this. I can't put into word what emotions I have felt. I hadn't experienced anything like that before. I'm 17 and I'll rememeber yesterday evening for the rest of my life. Robert is a human treasure, I love him with all my heart.
One of the best songs they have ever produced. The lyrics are intense and fragile. This song is a masterpiece. Deserves a place in the top 200 of the world's best songs ever.
Remember both Cure lovers and critisizers: there will never (Never) be this kind of artists anymore 20 years from know (or.. sooner). This is so totally authentic and touching, not having known this music you haven't lived. Dying with this music, you live on. Period.
I love how he look's like he can't believe how many people are actually there to see him perform. Even after that many years, he just seems to be overwhelmed by it. 💕
Agree with you. A true fan of The CURE since I was a young teenager ! July the 4th I still do listen to their haunting sound and their masterpieces ! Timeless band ! Friendly from France
... I met and spoke to Robert in Cincinnati Ohio in the 90's ... stood right in front of him and asked him "how is your mood"? he seemed to enjoy my question as it was the WILD MOOD SWINGS tour ... I didn't get a picture and I regret that ... BTW ... he answered by saying that he didn't like to meet people before the show but he would rather do it after ... as they had arrived late and weren't quite settled in yet ... as he looked shyfully at the floor ... then they whisked him away ... never in my life did I think I would stand so close let alone talk to him ... I am one lucky feller ...
Im only 18 and the cure are my favorite band. Almost nobody i know , understand the lyrics of their songs and i feel like they dont understand music at all. The cure its not only a bad, its passion itself.
Love is what makes him beautiful. His love for his wife, his family, music, his fans! The body is a veil over the truth. It only CONTAINS us but can never fully convey who we are. The one inside who is behind the expression. He’s got that all down: the energy field he resonates, the inflections in his voice, the childlike glee and playfulness, the witty and irreverent sense of humor, the depth of his gaze that make his eyes pierce and sparkle at the same time... best of all that way he reflects what there is to love about ourselves right back at us. That’s what makes him HOTTER than the sun !!!☀️🔥
Different look, different hair, older. But still the best! Robert looks so shy and yet does such a fantastic job. LOVE The Cure! Born in the GDR felt in love to The Cure and suddenly my country breaks down. The Cure were always by my side.
This is fabulous footage. I hope Robert knows how much we all love him.I hope he feels that energy when he's up there performing.I find it hard to put into words just how he has helped me..right now,I'm even typing this through tears. What an amazing human. And it's like he's a Shaman that we all go to so we would be healed 💟
This just makes me cry too… 'cause I understand you well, I've been there, we all feel rescued and safe. He really knows the way we feel and how to touch each and every corner of our hearts and they're the band of my life. There's infinitely much more than just words… it's the intimacy they create and give us and SO ON… So thankful for they exist.
Robert Smith is a rare jewel.I don't care how old he gets or how much weight he's gained over the years he is still gorgeous and always will be to me! He is beautiful inside and out. He is truly a beautiful soul. I love him and all the cure members for always staying the same and not allowing their amazing talent and fame corrupt their spirits! It's rare to see that! I've hold the cure very close to my heart and I'm so happy the cure has lasted for over 40 years!
Can't believe I'm seeing The Cure within less than a month. I'm only 17 but their music has already helped me through so much. Absolutely admire Robert Smith
I'm 43. I started listening to Cure when I was 13. it makes me so happy to have had 30 years of great music in my life. the cure opened my eyes and ears to art and music and self expression. they really really enriched my life.
The Cure has been one of my favorite bands for over 25 years and it's great to see their influence still has an impact today with people your age....and of all ages. Enjoy your show, it might just change your life like it did mine when I saw them for the first time live in 1992.
My father has just died at 72 and was huge fan of the Cure. He enjoyed this song very much. I will play it at the beginning of his funeral in his memory 🙏🏼
I'm sorry, David that you've lost your father. Robert Smith has also gone through a lot of loss in the past few years, lost his mom, dad, and brother. I think playing Plainsong will be a great way to honor your father! I'm sure he will be dancing in spirit. Look for signs from him and pay attention to your dreams. I'm certain he will be doing his best to get through to you.
I hung out with him one nite at a party and while everyone was drinking and partying we just stood in the corner in the back of the room and had a great conversation. He is a very nice guy....when you actually get some one on one time with him it's easy to see that he as a very good heart. Thanks for all the advice Robert and I took it to heart and you were rite....raising a family and being just a normal everyday guy is a great gig too! God Bless you my friend❤️
Yeah, he has an awkward humility that I can relate to and appreciate.....along with millions of other fans... we seldom see this with our "Stars" today and it's refreshing to see :)
Still gives me chills.. every time I’ve heard this song, since the very first time.. Robert Smith... Wow, this Man is the embodiment of the confident expression of emotion..❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love how he interacts with the crowd and when he smiles it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside!! So adorable and such a creative and hardworking individual. He’s a rare soul and this song makes me feel emotions I have no explanation for but I want to cry. I hope I can see him live one day if he keeps touring💕
Have to always admire Robert Smith not only for the bands longevity, but the man sounds the exact same as he does back in the day. There's no getting the audience to sing the song he's consistent as fuck. Seeing them play tomorrow in Dublin, can't wait
This song utterly makes my heart ache. It always brings me back to the most perfect, blissful time in my life ... Anything seemed possible then. This song is like home... I love Robert's cute, awkward moments in the beginning.... Uggggg...
Beautiful forever! The magic has took me out of many DARK places to a lighter sense of love. Im 36 and been a fan since 86 sitting watching MTV before what it is now. I was only 5 but I wanted to be him. Love always.
+Tanya's Ethereal Footsteps True! I'm lucky to have gone one of their concerts a couple months ago. I believe at one point I think he may have said "You know I don't smile!" It was hilarious
the cure marco mi vida desde mi adolececia tanto asi que hasta hoy podria decir que siguie siendo la mayor imfluencia de todos los tiempos para mi vida y para la historia de la musica
This lovely song still moves me. Catch my heart and my soul. One of their masterpieces ! Thanks a lot for being who you are Robert Smith and The CURE !
Robert Smith is the epitome of every guy who wants escape and just wake up with messy hair and go to write awesome cool song in FU slippers, some pajamas, and make their own world, he is the most amazing musician of my life time, a total authentic genius, and original..
I saw them a month ago in MD, but seeing them in Hawaii would be the ultimate. I lived there when I was a kid and my husband is from Maui. I should've told my in laws to go to the show!
Saw them 1986. Seeing Robert reminds me just how long ago that was. Still, when I here that voice...Takes me back. Back like it was yesterday. Beautiful.
I am 52 now. I was teenager when The Cure formed, back in 1979. Next year (2019) The Cure will close 40 years and Robert Smith personally, his 60 years, and I will watch The Cure for first time in my life in Athens, Greece, in the age of 53. For almost 40 years I love their music and their unique style. It was worth the wait. We grew up together. Every song of them is a part of my life. I'm excited. And I want to cry. For the music they gave to me, and for the years that have passed...
Tanya's Ethereal Footsteps I will. In about 10 months from now. Concert is on July 17th 2019. July 18th probably i will be still in a shock :) But the next day, i will :)
Robert Smith/ The Cure, are my Soul, if that makes any sense...i feel like my Soul wants to be like him so much...was always my favorite band and always will be...but it saddens me that he looks so old...i wish he would take better care of himself...when he dies, that will probably be just about the saddest day of my life...he is the most beautiful man ever...
So intense, so sincere... This song is my favorite, can't help but crying each time I listen ito it, for it is soo beautiful and full of emotions, but with these images of Robert it's even higher, I love the way he's sharing with the audience, he's showing so much generosity and feelings in his looks and words.Thank you too Tanya for the sharing of this beautiful moment, how lucky you are to have seen the band lately :)
I love the way Robert looks at the crowd with appreciation and warmth. He's a beautiful soul.
I agree with you 100% ....
Yes sometimes he looks above and beyond what is going on It's great Covid release
I love Robert. So many people talk about how he looks. Don't forget that we ALL age. He was a teenager when he started The Cure. Sure he was cute. Sure he was hot. He's not now, he's past middle age. But, look in his eyes, listen to his voice. That teenager is still there, it's just seen the world.

sallysimpson7 He would have aged better if he had better health habits when he was younger.
You are finally a person of truth. So many haters out there. I feel the pang of Robert getting old as we all are. He is a human treasure. He will probably outlive all of us. Thank you for your comment.
I like the the way he looks here better than when he was young. Every wrinkle represents substance and experience added to his talent.
Hot then, hot now. Inside and out.
He tries to look at every person in the room, not just a mass of people. He is making a connection to the people who appreciate the music he has created. Humble.
I love that he makes the effort. Was so happy to be able to capture this.
+Tanya's Ethereal Footsteps really amazing. so glad to see what you have filmed.
Ikr what a guy ❤️☺️
Should probably tell you that everything beyond about the fifth row is a blur to him. Bad eyesight :).
nikki dunaway ♥️♥️♥️
My god, the opening notes of this song just take me right back to Spring 1989 when I first popped the cassette in my tape deck, sitting in my bedroom with the window open and feeling like life held unlimited possibilities and friends would always be there and never die.
Pete nice sentiment!!!!!!!!!,
Same with me!
Pete
The same happened to me in Riga, Latvia!
Cassette, then CD's ... Disintegration is a masterpiece of The Cure.
love this comment
What a wonderful thing to say!
Even after all of these years he is still adoreable and is still married I believe to his high school sweetheart. They don't make too many like that anymore. Amazing musical talent. Would love to see him in concert.

This close up camera work shows how radiant Smith's soul truly is.
It seems he wants everyone to know that he see's them all and loves them all, what a beautiful way to show that he cares......
dave wheless Yes, those eyes man, those eyes.....its like he's trying to memorize every moment, every fan, every heart. He has no clue just how many of us there are...eternal love for this beautiful soul

Robert looks contemplative. I think he’s digesting all the years he’s been able to share his beautiful music with his fans. ❤
This is a great clip. He's clearly very moved - and still, after all these years, slightly bemused and puzzled - that so many people have turned up to see his band!

Doriana Cambria welcome too real music. The cure are so underrated and yet they are in my opinion the best band ever. 😎🙏

One of the best songs they have ever produced. The lyrics are intense and fragile. This song is a masterpiece. Deserves a place in the top 200 of the world's best songs ever.

Best album of the 80's.

I have been a Cure fan since I was 13 yrs old I never noticed that they r such perfectionist!
Just thinking too much and I am thankful for the cure
Same. I've been a fan for a long time, too and didn't know how perfectionistic Robert was until seeing them live. It's why they've been so successful.
Agree with you. A true fan of The CURE since I was a young teenager ! July the 4th I still do listen to their haunting sound and their masterpieces ! Timeless band ! Friendly from France

Long live Robert and his beautiful musical compositions. Love The Cure ❤
His voice doesn't age. Amazing.

Diane Greene It takes a special sort of someone to see all that he has to offer!
Different look, different hair, older. But still the best! Robert looks so shy and yet does such a fantastic job. LOVE The Cure! Born in the GDR felt in love to The Cure and suddenly my country breaks down. The Cure were always by my side.
1990, summer at the pool, tripping my brains out to the Cure. I will never, ever forget this band. They truly changed my perception of the world.
A really touching video of Robert loving on his fans. Some may not see it, but I do. He really loves his fans. He is a wonderful artist.

There's infinitely much more than just words… it's the intimacy they create and give us and SO ON… So thankful for they exist.
I think he knows. Why else would he keep making such beautiful music for us ;)

I was fortunate enough to see this live on the Disintegration tour. It was '91 or so. It was beautiful.
He is so shy but all he wants to do is sing !,he does not care about the money nor the notoriety and that's why i love him so much!💗💗💗💗💗💗
His shyness and humility is part of what makes him extra lovable.
It sure seems Robert really appreciates his fans and doesn't take them or his fame for granted.
I get the same impression, John.
Yeah, he has an awkward humility that I can relate to and appreciate.....along with millions of other fans...
we seldom see this with our "Stars" today and it's refreshing to see :)
The ponytail, the earrings he always wore, the smile, the chin dimple and shyness is fabulous as his makeup he never goes without it is all perfect to me
He's so beautiful. 🖤 I'm so hopelessly in love with him arrrrhhhh
Robert is magic. Just magic.... amazing talent.
IDOL, i wonder what was he thinking.

:- )Robert you're a legend
Hahahah I love it when he looks at the crowd, almost smiles then decided to make a biting motion😂😂😂
Yes, Annika, he's a character. There's nobody like Robert Smith.
+Tanya's Ethereal Footsteps True! I'm lucky to have gone one of their concerts a couple months ago. I believe at one point I think he may have said "You know I don't smile!" It was hilarious
Beautiful sounds only Robert Smith can make. His voice can make time travel possible. I’m 16 again. Just like that.
“It can never be the same” But his voice will always stay as it was the first time he sang.
Living legends!
Feel happy/sad listening to this masterpiece.

I was just saying earlier that he's an archetype, but remember he worked for this.
The Cure forever!!!!!
I LOVE this video
An emotional moment... 👍
He's incredible.
I saw them a month ago in MD, but seeing them in Hawaii would be the ultimate. I lived there when I was a kid and my husband is from Maui. I should've told my in laws to go to the show!
Crushes me every time. It’s almost like the first time I ever heard it live. So much nostalgia when I hear this.
Timeless. Love them 🤘
1989! Still gives me goosebumps. Amazing
Saw them 1986. Seeing Robert reminds me just how long ago that was. Still, when I here that voice...Takes me back. Back like it was yesterday. Beautiful.
With time some of their songs turn into something epic. It takes me somewhere wher all fight in a battle against time and death.
the expression of that man can only be Robert Smith. no one else!!!!
Los mejores del mundo e inmortales 🖤2022...
I love you Robert 💖🌹
Sure we have passed trough dark dark times, clinging with all our strength to this songs... and here we are now alive, thanks Robert !

For the music they gave to me, and for the years that have passed...

This is one of the greatest songs I've ever known, it has been one of the highlights of my lifetime
The happy look on his face just made my day. Love this band and ALL their music, but seeing him smile ! :)

Robert thank you for sharing your beautiful gift with us 💓 i love the Cure.
Can you imagine being so adored as Bob is. What a beautiful geeza!
