This is the best song in the game IMHO, and is also one of the best arrangements ever put together on the NES. The music fits the mood and futuristic look of Area 3. The boss of Area 3 is also the most unique in the game aside from the final "Plutonium Boss" It took me until 1998 to beat the game (when I had a huge NES revival year), roughly a decade after I got it new for Christmas in 1988. I have since been able to beat the game in under 3 hours with no continues - a huge feat indeed!
Blaster Master Zero was so close to being one of the best remakes in video games but the music being completely altered outside of Area 1 stops that from happening. They wouldn’t even have to remix all of it, just have an unlockable thing where you can switch it to the classic music and it would work just as well.

He told me that Double Dribble and Blaster Master were first on his list, but that he could never find Blaster Master. A few days later, we decided to spend that weekend hunting down a copy. It was at the first Gamestop we went to. Beat it in 4 hours My Cousin: We weren't bright kids, were we? Me: No, we were not
@GBelair The Plutonium Boss had my heart racing when I finally had a chance to beat it and the game. It takes 100 grenade hits to kill and moves around so fast that you will feel like you won an Olympic Gold Medal when you finally prevail. Not too many old games can give you the rush that Blaster Master still provides today, 23 years later.
@GBelair The trick is to know how to eliminate each boss (aside from memorizing each stage). The most nail-biting regular boss fights are the stage 3, 5, and 8 boss battles. These bosses can eat your lunch if you aren't prepared with a fully powered gun (stage 3 boss isn't too bad). The grenade trick doesn't work on these either in case you want to bail out. With that said, you must arrive at the stage 5 and stage 8 bosses with a fully powered gun to stand a strong fighting chance.
@dan23osu The stage 5 boss is especially difficult, since without a fully powered gun, you can't cut through the barrage of "bubbles" it spews. Arriving at the boss with a maxed gun alone is a daunting task! You have max out early in area 5 close to where you have to leave Sophia. Then, you have to navigate the rest of the stage without dying (without Sophia), and get through the overhead segment that contains the boss, essentially without being touched if you want a strong chance against it.
@@ricardohuff8774 Don't know if you already know this by now, but to get to Area 4, you had to go all the way back to Area 1(more specifically, the exact point where you started the game in the first place), hover up the "tree branches" and you should see a large door. Go through there and on the way down is the gate to Area 4. The game does require you to backtrack to previous areas with other vehicle upgrades later on. If you're having trouble with finding your way around, I suggest finding an overworld map on the internet or watching a walkthrough of the game.
@@DragonHeartHisMajestyX I already did, when i play this i didnt know you got to backtrack, but i saw a video on you tube and i was surprised, love how you upgrade your vehicle until area 8,i did not had a booklet at all when i got this game. The gun upgrade helps a lot ad well, this still my favorite game.
When I first played Blaster Master NES in 1990 age 12 this stage was record it was long the boss annoyed me so much the way those computer circuits with the eyes multiplied but this Technology music always stood with me :)
@GBelair The ice boss was stage 6. If you want to take the easy way out with that one, you can use the 1 hit grenade kill.... Stage 7 was the lava/fire area before you fought the frog with the flaming tongue. You could also use the 1 hit grenade kill on that boss as well. I would only resort to that if my health got in trouble on the boss fight, which was rare after I mastered the game. I found the crab on stage 5 the hardest next to the Plutonium Boss and stage 8 boss.
@GBelair The Ice Boss is the same guy as level 2. Only he shoots out some kind of beam. Its easy to beat him if you get a fully powered gun. Which you can in the same area the boss is located in. The room with all those breakable stones break everyone of them and you'll find upgrades for the gun, extra power in case you need it, and some weapons for the Tank. If you're talking about Area 7 the Frog again, only Orange, he is tricky but just remember his attacks in order and you should be fine.
They should've remixed this for the Blaster Master ZERO credits theme. This would've made the best possible callback. Then again, ZERO is the sequel to the Japanese version of MetaFight, so I guess that wouldn't work too well to put anywhere
@dan23osu Ah yes, that one... I remember. I think I actually managed to beat it once or twice despite having a rather underpowered gun, but I find that I'm usually fine as long as I have a gun level of 1 to 3. Still, having it fully powered would help a LOT, and it can really decimate the 3rd boss. :) As for the final boss, I have only managed to get that far on an emulator... :( Anyway, I read in an FAQ that it takes about 150 grenades to take him out, but I haven't really counted them, so...
@varanidguy BTW - Thanks for inspiring me to make my first You Tube video(s). It will take a few weeks to get up, but it will be made soon enough. Thankfully, I just bought some analog to DV capture equipment this year, so it shouldn't be too difficult to make.
@GBelair I know what you mean, everytime I play this I get nervous on the bosses, I defeat all of them without dying once until Area 8. Then I die on the 1st boss that's in the wall. His spikey ball things always hit me even with full health and gun and I die. I've never beaten this game, I try to on my free time. Never beat him though.

This was the longest game ive ever played as a child and not having the ability to save but it was one of my favs. 🎮

Yeah, the boss handed my ass to me. Maybe save states would make it a lot easier but that sucker is brutal fighting it as-is on the cart.
