And if you need a crown, I just got mine today and it really wasnt bad! I will say its a bit more uncomfortable (for me) but thats because they need to make sure the crowns fits, I also think they drilled out a temp filling so that was a little uncomfortable. Again no pain! Yes, you do get shots when getting a crown. When finding the right fit, they may make you bite on a play dough type mold, mine was kinda minty! Though you may get nervous etc, again its painless and at most mildy uncomfortable. I also feel its important to note for crowns and root canals, if you do feel pain its NOT normal and alert the dentist right away (its most likely because they didnt numb enough)
i'm getting a root canal on a front tooth tomorrow dawg i don't wanna 😭😭😭 update: i got it done and it hurts a little but not too bad. it was mostly just pressure and a bit of stress. honestly, a lot better than i was expecting.
It’s kinda funny that probably 90% of the comments are people who are possibly getting root canals and I’m getting mine today 😭 it doesn’t look bad but I have like severe anxiety and anytime I see a drill I go into fight or flight. My previous dentist only took X-rays of the teeth he never looked in between them for cavities… turns out I have 18 so keep me in your thoughts
the cavaties and plaque literally hides on your teeth becuz your gums are covering it up and hiding. so its really hard to see it unless you have dentist digging around in your gums to check and see it. i think this is probly the reason why a lot of people have teeth decay, cuz they can't see the plaque so they all think they don't have it until it gets really really bad.
Thank you for this quick visual aid. My dentist just told me that I'm going to need 2 root canals and I've never gotten one before. Therefore, I didn't know what it would entail! So... it looks like this is basically just a filling on steroids! I've gotten fillings before, so I can handle that.
I got one this month and it was my first (and hopefully only) too and it really wasn't bad at all. It was two sessions - the first, they did like this video where they removed the inside and filled it up with medicine to kill any infection and put a filling on top. Then after 4 weeks I went back and they remove that filling and put the new material inside my root to strengthen the tooth again and put another temporary filling. In one more month I'll get a crown to replace the broken tooth. I was pretty nervous going into, but it was totally fine
@@DenisMcD Ah, I'm now at the point where they're waiting on the paperwork so that I can get both of my crowns financially covered. The first one was one of my backmost teeth and therefore it actually had 4 roots. Eating was really painful for the following week! The second one though, only had 2 roots and was just behind one of my canines, so that one was a lot easier to deal with!
@@LadybugsOpinah sorry to hear that. Mine was the back most tooth before my wisdom tooth on the top left. It had 3 roots. My dentist was amazing and I had no pain. I even flew 2 days later and no pain/discomfort on the flight
It's been said that if not getting a root canal when needed, such as from an abscessed (infected) tooth, for instance, then the infection may unfortunately travel to "the jawbone, soft tissues of the face, and neck and beyond." Though extreme and more rare (but possible), the infection, if left untreated by the root canal, may reportedly travel to the heart (endocarditis) and brain (bacterial meningitis).
@jayrod7389 Trama to the mouth can actually cause the nerve to die and requires a root Canal as well! Doesn't mean the person doesn't clean their mouth or takes care of it. Do you speculate everything in life?
Nope! It’s uncomfy at some parts but I was chilling and watching a movie on Netflix while he was doing my root canal! and afterwards u can rest watch tv and eat ice cream! And your numb so you don’t feel pain I even almost fell asleep 😭
@@KennaTheBear what kinda of drugs they give you? eventhough my dentist gave me numbing injection, the pain was intense few times while removing the infection which i didn't expect at all, i went for second sitting this time they didn't even use any numbing injection and sealed with filling there is mild sensation and i was asked to take pain killer but i didnt it wasn't painful enough for to take pk . i think it depends on your pain tolerance

Antiesthetic they use today now... is wayyyyy better and effective than the old ones they use to use in 90s and early 2000s where you can still feel the pain like crazy even with multiple shots to same area. Now the one they use are wayyy stronger and more effective where theres no pain or minimal pain. As a kid I had same things done as a 36 year old adult today, its a lot more painful with the old stuff compared to now. Its a huge difference!!
Listen please hear me well! Go to a endodontist I just got mine done I don’t feel a thing it was super easy and only took like 15 min. Please don’t be like me and freak out it’s truly so easy
Root canals aren't painful. It's nothing like that Finding Nemo scene lmao Just be prepared not to gag when they drill into the tooth and you smell that poop smell!

Was your front tooth throbbing or did you feel pressure on your gums?

Always get a second opinion. Some dentist are shady and will resort to a root canal even if it’s not required.
