White alien is a Neomorph and the black one is a Protomorph "prototype" That is why it isn't born like a little snake type from the first movie alien is feral like the white one that why it needs a mother and the mother is an alien queen.

Nah, it's just terrible writing. Covenant should have continued on the Engineer saga, but this movie is just one big old mess, rewriting the script over and over and Ridley Scott changing his mind mid-filming. Its only saving grace was David and that's because of Fassbender
I love the thought that David landed, continued his work perfecting queens and is currently traveling the universe seeding planets with Xenomorph queens
I agree that David is the most interesting character of this series. Ridley Scott has been obsessed with themes of children/the created trying to take power from God/parents by killing them and becoming creators themselves. He did this in Blade Runner, Gladiator, etc. David is the personification of that theme.
All these years later and I am still not forgiving them for the offscreen murder of Elizabeth Shaw it broke my heart since the actress Noomi comes from Sweden my home county and loved her since 2009 and was excited to see Elizabeth again in this. I went in completely unknowing and cried a lot
Yes one of the most stupid ideas on this franchise I was looking forward to seeing Shaw journey to the engineers planet They didn't even have the decency to give her a good send off
Yes. Just as stupid as killing Newt in the beginning of Alien 3. Bad writing. But anyway it doesn't make sense for Shaw to go to the engineer planet after all that happened. Any normal person would go back to Earth and report.
It was as terrible a decision as killing off Newt and Hicks. At least Newt's actress had aged between Aliens and Alien 3, so they had that excuse. Shaw was killed off for no reason other than to make her a fking egg experiment
@@davidpax At least killing off Newt made sense considering the actress had aged between the movies, so it would only mean they'd either had to change the actress, or go against their established science (they do not age during cryo sleep).
As o commented before, the final part of this trilogy was canceled, the story was to continue with the engineers coming to find what David had done, it was not certain that these were the engineers he killed as they look a lot different from the engineers in Prometheus. Fans were not happy with the idea that David is supposed to to have created the alien. But in Prometheus you do see a sculpture Of the alien.
I loved the idea that David created the alien. It is 100% canon that the original alien was biomechanical, and this give the explaination of how the mechanical side came ino the picture. My guess is that David would finally add a bit of himself into its final form, thus completed it.
Originally, I believe this was also mentioned independently of Scott or other involved parties, the alien species that David wipes out in Covenant was supposed to be the Engineers species. But as you say, that didn't sit well with fans, and the fact that they messed up the design of the Engineers in that movie and made them noticeably different from the ones we met, certainly opens up the potential for integrating a retcon into a perhaps future concluding prequel trilogy part, so that they were just some other species created by the Engineers, like humans as well. Yes, in Prometheus we already see a sculpture that looks very similar to the Xenomorph we know. I think it's very likely to assume that the Engineers also conducted numerous experiments with the black goo. Just in the process of developing it, etc. And perhaps they also conducted experiments on themselves or on other alien species they created, like humans, in the more distant past. We know from Prometheus that they visited Earth occasionally in the past. And the black goo has led to developments that repeatedly have similarities in the design of the Facehugger or the Xenomorph. Therefore, it's not unlikely that the Engineers have already created creatures similar to the Xenomorph we know through experiments with the goo. The concept that the definitive Xenomorph, as we know it from Alien 1, was created by David or something like that, I actually like. It's like a circle closing at the end.
@@Nerdlabor to be fair - Engineers definitely moved around through many worlds, so this very much could have been their homeworld, where the traditionalists regressed to super basic style of living. The Engineer in the Prometheus is said to be almost immortal, likely a product of bio-engineering himself, created with a mission to start more life (or in his case to eradicate the Earthian life after humanity failed). The people on the planet destroyed before the Covenant, could have been much more mortal kind of Engineers. It's also important to mention - even if technology evolved, pretty much all travelling through space takes a lot of time - days, decades and centuries that impact history of every species, including humanity.
The captain who burned in his pod was the chicks husband not father, and the race David wiped out was a different race that the Engineers, though they looked similar.David used Shaw’s DNA,to experiment and make the new aliens more human looking.
I'm sure people have already commented this but one major clue that David is Walter is that they are stapling his face, Walter would have just healed unlike David who cannot.
Can’t wait for Alien: Romulus! Heard it’s supposed to be set between the events of Alien 79’, and Aliens 86’, during the 57 years Lieutenant Ellen Ripley was asleep on the Nostromo’s emergency escape shuttle. It’ll be interesting to see how they go with it. The writer showed it to Ridley Scott, and Scott had nothing but high praise for it, said it sounded “F-ing incredible,” and he especially liked the dialogue. The writer said it had been his dream for a man of Scott’s talent, and caliber, to be that impressed with one of his works. So it should be good. Release date set (so far) August 16, 2024.
It will also be composed by Benjamin Wallfisch. I am very curious to see what he’ll do with the music. Knowing his style, I think he’ll keep a bit of the classic Jerry Goldsmith’s themes but still use his own elements as well. It’ll most likely sound like a bit of IT and possibly The Invisible Man.
@@rodgill9376I really wished that filmmakers today would hire classic film composers to score more big movies like Alan Silvestri, John Williams, John Debney, Randy Edelman, David Arnold, Danny Elfman and even John Powell, instead of composers who just make a lot of noise they call "music" and call it a day 🙄😒.
@@freshoftheoven965I think Prometheus was the worst one. This one was absolutely unnecessary. And yes, Alien 3 was the most brutal. The alien was savage. This movie was about David, which completely takes the story off.
I love your guys as reactions. it's where you find such intelligent thoughtful reactors and I appreciate it. I also love your set up. It's well done excellent
Little note: the Neomorph (white xeno) was suppose to encounter the new Protomorph (black xeno) during the escape to the evac ship. Unfortunately the method of puppetry (yes the aliens are practical props but edited in post like in Alien 3) limited the motions for a brawl and the scene was scrapped. However, this fight is included in the book copy. The scene plays out that one surviving Neomorph ambushes the team and the Protomorph catches up. These two aliens sense competition with the other and begin fighting each other, thus allowing the team to flee. While the Neomorph had faster attacks, the Protomorph was more robust, bigger, and stronger. It tanked all the attacks and killed the Neomorph with ease before resuming the pursuit.
Competition between the aliens over what? Scoring kills? edit - I'm asking because it doesn't make sense to me, so I'm hoping for more of an explanation
This movie managed to piss off both fans of Prometheus and Alien. About the only good thing i can say about it is the performance of Michael Fassbender as David and Walter. I think Ridely Scott wanted to make a Blade Runner type movie about A.I. but forgot he was making an alien movie. It really sucks how they killed off Shaw's character, it makes all she went though in Prometheus to be pointless.
One of my favorite parts of the movie was the musical score. I really liked that “whoo-whoo” motif that they used. It sounds like either woodwind synths or some other industrial effect. It plays out almost all the time in some form or other. The Med Bey sequence being a good prime example. I also really like those electronic beats in the sounds too. Has a really sick bass tone that I never get sick of. Of course, it’s always nice hearing Jerry Goldsmith’s themes from the first film making a few appearances as well. Sounds just as triumphant and romantic as it did long ago. Really love the music of these films!
I love it too. That sound you’re talking about that gets going in the beginning when everything starts going to shit is so eerie. It almost sounds like a ghostly alarm. It really made it feel like a nightmare.
@@jonathanmoore9661 I honestly kind of wished I knew how Jed Kurzel made that sound effect. It’s either some kind of synths or a woodwind effect. Not too sure but I’ve always loved that sound. It’s rather jarring and suspenseful.
Watching this movie alone was true horror. Watching it again made me really like it. Good sense for the older movies, the character acting. And it made Prometheus even bigger, more important. I enjoy the reactions very much, you rock
I still contend that David did NOT create the Xenomorph. He created a convergent strain based on the inherent properties of the Black Liquid...the Xenomorph being the ultimate expression of the Black Liquid's dna jiggery pokery, and that's why his creatures are different.
A few things. Alien Awakening was to be the third in the prequel trilogy. Also, David tinkered with the xenomorph biology, but did not create them. And third, Alien Romulus takes place between alien and aliens, and is not a direct sequel or prequel to anything as far as we’ve been told.
David's God complex starts when he realized that humans will die but he will live forever unless destroyed somehow. That's what it sound like to me at least. How about this? The Engineer's created Humankind but for some reason decided to wipe us out but failed in Prometheus. Perhaps they decided that Humans are flawed and well humans ends up creating androids like David who gets a God complex and decides to create a perfect lifeform and he sees humans as imperfect. I think there is a theme here
Its implied that the reason they want to wipe us out is because we killed their ambassador (Jesus). Hence humans being guilty of killing their gods/mothers
The Prometheus saga has all the symptoms of the SW prequels. People hated them "why everything looks new" "where are the Xenomorphs? " "the characters are so stupid" "not my alien" etc. Hopefully, similar to SW as people mature and re-watch this films they will be apretiated more as time goes by, and maybe they'll make the third movie to finish the story.
I know people have their gripes about these movies but dayum Michael Fassbender really made me love these. Really amazing!! 👌 just insane! Super hype for avp its another interesting one! Cant wait for the reactions!
The problem with these 2 movies is they shrink the alien universe down to one crazy robot instead of a large alien civilization. It is like a completely different universe from the original movies. It also has the modern movie issue of explaining every last detail, leaving all mystery destroyed.
That's not really true. If anything Prometheus makes the universe feel more vast and mysterious and blurs the line between science and religion. The main problem with the movies is Ridley Scott caving to "fans" and making such a drastic change in direction going from Prometheus to Covenant. They should have focused on the engineers and the philsophical questions surrounding that whole story line and kept it as loosely connected to Alien as possible. But I will say they hardly explain everything, there's plenty of mystery. For example so many people are under the impression that David ends up being the creator of the Xenomorph despite the fact there's a lot of evidence in the films to disprove that. He recreates them at best using designs and technology he got from the engineers and attempts to improve them because he has a god complex and believes he's the superior being.
I see where you’re coming from, but it’s also extremely easy to separate the first Alien films from these prequels You can watch those originals without needing the prequels after and visa versa
I just found out that there is one Alien comic series indicating that David not only survived long after his final movie appearance (Alien: Covenant) but that he became an android messiah.
I don't know what's wrong with people who don't vibe with Prometheus and Covenant (well nothing wrong with them, I just don't agree I guess), these are so interesting and well done, exploring the origin of a lot of things, still leaving a lot unanswered. I love them and I hope Romulus won't disappoint.
Ive always liked this flick depsite some of its flaws, when you guys eventually do the Alien vs Predator films be sure you do the unrated extended cuts for both🍻
Some of the unused concepts from earlier _Alien_ sequel attempts appear in this movie. The spores seen at 18:10 were an alternate transmission vector for the Xenos in William Gibson's unused _Alien 3_ script.
My parents and I watched this and watched this on Blu Ray and we enjoyed it! Ridley Scott was going to direct the third film in the prequel series, ALIEN: ROMULUS, but stepped down as director as he was too busy working on the epic biographical war film NAPOLEON. Fede Alveraz, director of EVIL DEAD 2013 is helming the project and will be released this August.
Always loved Prometheus and Covenant (Covenant a little more) and didn't really understand why so many people dislike them. I always found David, like you said, so interesting as a character, as well as the story and mythology behind these movies. And the fact that they brought back some score themes from the original: so good! I love to watch you guys react because you appreciate and notice these things. Thanks for that!
Wow fantastic reaction as always guys 😄 When i got the notification of this I had to plan my afternoon to enjoy watching it 😂 Glad you have enjoyed mostly the Alien franchise. Lots of differing opinions in the comment section, like you realized, some love this movie and some really dislike it. I fall in between lol. But really looking forward to your Predator and AVP reactions to see what you think of those. Keep them coming guys.
There was this obsession with viral advertisements for these films. Special TH-cam shorts that honestly should be in the films, but they figured "Hey, we can put this character stuff online and it's your own fault if you didn't catch it." So look for those as well.
Great reaction to Covenant, technically David didn’t create the zenomorphs, he (and the engineers) only tampered with their DNA, there was a mural on the wall of the urn chamber in Prometheus that shows a deacon standing above what looks like an open egg with a face hugger inside, they existed long before, I still hope they make a sequel to covenant as it ended on the best cliffhanger.
Yes i love you guys and i hate David ! What did you think about the back breakers? Excited to see you Cary on the franchise with predator you guys should definitely check out raised by wolves at some point as well.
Now that you've reacted to all these Alien movies, I think it's time you reacted to Sigorney Weaver in a comedy alien space movie called Galaxy Quest. Very good movie with a great cast.
If you want more Alien IP while you wait for Romulus, check out the 40th Anniversary Alien Anthology. It's a handful of short films that add to the lore. All together, I don't even think it's an hour long, but it's pretty damn cool. Especially because each part of the anthology was directed by upcoming directors who were all mega fans of the franchise
@@ilikeknives1000 I like this lore rather than the aliens just being a buncha bugs. Cameron's movie was great, but it didn't make the concept of the Alien better.
Now that you've seen this. You have to see "Life" the movie. It's the spiritual succesor of the alien movie series. It's by no means linked in anyway, but it's a sci-fi alien movie...
Killing off Shaw (best character alongside David in these 2 entries) feels like a slapt to the face. Dont know what they were thinking when they decided that.
David start as a destroyer in that planet... also, saw how imperfect humans are... and created the percfect specie... He likes to be a creater :p loved is movie and Prometheus... finally some answers after so many years from the first movie. can't wait for the next. best series of movies ever. thank you for doing this reactions... i think many people don't know and are just scared
Thanks for the reaction. I am hoping to see the continuation of this from Riddley. I know he has some interesting concepts. I really would like for him to explore the Engineers lore more. It's so fascinating to me.
It always seemed to me that the chest burster is essentially fully a seperate entity from the host and it just exits the host through the chest. But the back burster makes no sense as an exit path... so that lead me to theorize that maybe neo-morphs aren't the lifecycle of an organism at all, but they are almost like a kind of rapid onset cancer.... the black nanite pathogen in a sense infects the host to make a kind of cancer and it coopts the hosts organs and spine to create itself, so it exits the back because it IS the back. That's akso why it looks fleshy, its MADE of the host.
The decision of killing Shaw was as bad as killing Newt and Corporal Hicks. At least Alien 3 had the excuse of the child actress playing Newt aging between the movies and causing problems because of that. This was just a terrible decision, trying to replace Shaw with that cheap Ripley knockoff.
This movie got so many mixed reviews and so much flack but I actually like this one and I enjoyed it a great deal. ✊🏻 Great reaction you guys, keep them coming brothers! ❤
These two movies (Prometheus and Covenant) are like Mad max Furiosa. Not that they are bad movies, but are completely off the trilogy they are BASED on.
I have a suggestion for a fim for you to react to: PSYCHO (1960), a classic mystery thriller, which influenced several other films that came later, it has tense and surprising moments, you'll like it
There is a small clip of Shaw and David, after the events of Prometheus, Shaw got terribly sick and David did everything to save her but she didn’t make it, so after that David played god with her eggs in her ovaries to create the perfect Alien
Good reaction. The CGI, most notably in the 3rd act, and the ridiculous method in killing the alen were my primary issues with this film. Other than that, a very enjoyable watch. I particularly liked the interactions between David and Walter.
You should really check out Alien Covenant: The Crossing. Meant to be watched before watching Alien: Covenant, there were a few two-minute prologue scenes that were released before Alien Covenant came out in theaters. Alien Covenant: The Crossing is the BRIDGE between Prometheus and Alien Covenant. It shows Elizabeth Shaw and David on the juggernaut spaceship. It leads up to how he was able to "catch" Elizabeth.
Best alien movie for me..action, nature, mystery, horror...Michael Fassbender in a double role and aliens, aliens, aliens...love it ❤❤❤😊 Beside one hell of a good soundtrack
The upcoming series is also ignoring those movies, so now there's speculation that Disney might remove them from canon.......like they did to the Star Wars Universe when they acquired the IP.
@@The.Crawling.Chaos. I did not say Star Wars movies, but for clarity they removed everything other than the movies from canon. An easy example are the Thrawn Novels, of which only the three most recent are canon.
Another classic alien horror franchise you guys should check out after the Predator movies is Species... imagine the xenomorph... but as a human-looking femme fatale. An underrated franchise, imo.
I read that this planet is just one of the engineers planets, and the next movie if it happened Ridley Scott part of it would have been the engineers response?

@@freshoftheoven965🤡🤡 clown drunk in nostalgia
What? Hahaha definitely not.
Noomi Rapace the lead actor in the last movie is amazing. Y'all should check out the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She's so so good in it.
Agreed, the original series is flawless and Noomi is amazing!❤❤❤
@18:46 “this just became hell’s paradise”
funnily enough, an early title for this was alien: paradise lost
@@w1975b The aliens aren't on the same side, thats all. It wasn't killing them for food anyway, according to Ridley's canon, the aliens don't eat.
@@applegeepedigree the aliens don't eat anything? they're breatharians lol
@@w1975b they grow from the size of a rat to 7ft tall without consuming anything. And they have no need to breathe either.
@@applegeepedigree it was a joke. Good thing to remember this is all fiction, so we don't waste too much time discussing things that don't matter.
The haunting score was perfect for a cosmic horror...
So glad you guys didn't stop at Aliens II. I think its worth it to go the full journey. Thank you!
This and Prometheus are underrated as hell. Next best Alien movies after Alien and Aliens. Easily..
Covanent is so underrated
but not even close to canon. they didnt even get the planet right in prometheus.
My problem with prequels are mostly dumb characters, mostly.
@@wsp233 I see what u did there. Nice. Lol
@@omega311888 prometheus takes place on a different moon than in Alien
I always say: James Franco was in this for a hot minute!!
Ah ah ah
8:32 "Don't die in my video!"
10:35 "He just got Among Us'ed."
It's been a pleasure to rewatch this series with you guys!
I do hope you can get to Predator, and then eventually AvP as well.
yeahhhh Predator and AVP/AVP2 would be super fun
Great editing by the way!..✌️❤️❤️
Fassbender did a remarkable job playing two robots. Really good by him
The problem with these 2 movies is they shrink the alien universe down to one crazy robot instead of a large alien civilization.
I see where you’re coming from, but it’s also extremely easy to separate the first Alien films from these prequels
You can watch those originals without needing the prequels after and visa versa
@@ilo2224 I enjoyed them, but to me don't fit the rest of the Alien universe. They are more like their own thing.
I'm so glad Brent Spiner was in this reprising his roles as Data and Lore, huehuehue.
- Stop asking me if I got it, I got it!
- I know that, but... do you got it?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Y'all been watching movies that I love lately, subbed! Let's gooooo!
I wonder if the Romulans will come out in Romulus
🤣🤣🤣
For me, of the 6 movies, easily the most interesting movie and entertaining. Brutal but beautiful.
"David is not a good guy"
Well it's a matter of perspective
Ive always liked this flick depsite some of its flaws, when you guys eventually do the Alien vs Predator films be sure you do the unrated extended cuts for both🍻
Some of the unused concepts from earlier _Alien_ sequel attempts appear in this movie. The spores seen at 18:10 were an alternate transmission vector for the Xenos in William Gibson's unused _Alien 3_ script.
I just love the scene with the first guy who pukes blood. Faris’ look, the eery music, and the way and amount of blood that comes out is nightmarish.
You’ll want to watch aliens vs predator, it actually ties in with Prometheus and covenant
I read that Alien: Romulus takes place between Alien and Aliens.
Awesome Work Guys, Thanks Again 👍👍👍👍😎 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
All their dirty laundry in the background is hilarious. If I made a reaction video right now, it’d be the same.
Alien Romulus is not the third part of the 'Prometheus Trilogy,' but rather it is independent and takes place between Alien and Aliens
I am looking forward to Romulus but I would have loved to see an ending with David
9:10 I think that’s the dude that plays Dr. Manhattan in the Watchmen movie.
Wow fantastic reaction as always guys 😄
When i got the notification of this I had to plan my afternoon to enjoy watching it 😂
Glad you have enjoyed mostly the Alien franchise.
Lots of differing opinions in the comment section, like you realized, some love this movie and some really dislike it.
I fall in between lol.
But really looking forward to your Predator and AVP reactions to see what you think of those.
Keep them coming guys.
It's as if Ridley Scott thinks his cinematography is so good his stories don't need to make sense 😁
I think the original Alien looked more gritty, grimey cyberpunky than these too clean prequels.
Whatever he had, he lost it.
Some people need to know when to retire.
There was this obsession with viral advertisements for these films. Special TH-cam shorts that honestly should be in the films, but they figured "Hey, we can put this character stuff online and it's your own fault if you didn't catch it." So look for those as well.
There’s a mini-movie called The Crossing that you can find on TH-cam, which shows Shaw and David aboard the engineers ship.
I still remember how pissed I was at this ending because I didn’t see it coming my dad thought my frustration was hilarious 😅😑
Especially because each part of the anthology was directed by upcoming directors who were all mega fans of the franchise
yes! these are all so well done. please react to them.
READ THE COMICS THEY PICK UP AFTER ..THEY CREATED THE MYTHOS THAT THESE CRAPPY PREQUELS RETCONNED HORRIBLY
@@ilikeknives1000 I like this lore rather than the aliens just being a buncha bugs. Cameron's movie was great, but it didn't make the concept of the Alien better.
If Romulus is about building Rom, then David would definitly burn it down.
Luring prey using John Denver. 🤣
Now that you've seen this. You have to see "Life" the movie. It's the spiritual succesor of the alien movie series. It's by no means linked in anyway, but it's a sci-fi alien movie...
I love David's character
You guys should watch Alien vs. Predator. One of my favorites growing up ❤
Juicy Smooyé!!! Didn’t know he was in this movie. 😀👍🏾
Just finished watching ur reaction glad u guys liked it. I think u guys would enjoy The Thing and it’s prequel The Thing (2011).
Woo Sunday morning watchalong ! 👽
Theres a youtube up where a school play reacteated alien, sigourney weaver attended it , defo worth a watch even if not on the channel !
I have a suggestion for a fim for you to react to: PSYCHO (1960), a classic mystery thriller, which influenced several other films that came later, it has tense and surprising moments, you'll like it
The Ted talk with waylend is fantastic ,it should've been included in the film to give an insight as to what sort of person he was,but..
Guys dont forget to watch on youtube alien covenant prologue two of them if you wonder what happend to elizabeth shaw.
I love David lol. Fassbender made the movie for me
I love the Alien Franchise and I love your reactions to these movies
Side note. After this, Disney bought Fox and the 3rd film which was going to be a direct prequel to Alien was scrapped by them.
You should watch Species 1 and 2, has another creature designed by Geiger.
Best alien movie for me..action, nature, mystery, horror...Michael Fassbender in a double role and aliens, aliens, aliens...love it ❤❤❤😊
Beside one hell of a good soundtrack
The Xenomorph were being used in Ancient times. According to the Avp films. But here it has just been created.
Those weren’t engineers that David dropped the goo on… different species.
ROMULUS will ignore the events of PROMETHEUS and Covenant. It will take place between ALIEN and ALIENS.
The upcoming series is also ignoring those movies, so now there's speculation that Disney might remove them from canon.......like they did to the Star Wars Universe when they acquired the IP.
@@jamesknight3070they did not remove any movies from Star Wars canon. Oh and by the way they are still selling and reprinting SW Legends materiel.
@@The.Crawling.Chaos. I did not say Star Wars movies, but for clarity they removed everything other than the movies from canon.
An easy example are the Thrawn Novels, of which only the three most recent are canon.
Thank god for that.😂
Another classic alien horror franchise you guys should check out after the Predator movies is Species... imagine the xenomorph... but as a human-looking femme fatale. An underrated franchise, imo.
I read that this planet is just one of the engineers planets, and the next movie if it happened Ridley Scott part of it would have been the engineers response?
Where that boy at who be hiding behind his paws? Is he seriously that mortified by horror movies.😂
He'll be back
