    Your videos are soooo relaxing. So soothing to watch. I never used to love roses but now the big has caught me. I have 7 roses at the moment. 2 simplicity, 1 claire austin, 1 Blossom Magic, 1 Graham Thomas, 1 Getrude Jekyll, 1 Rosa Bracteata Mccartney. I'm gonna buy more

      Jermaine, thanks so much for your kind words. It is definitely something that entices you. You have such a gorgeous collection. Which ones are you planning to buy?

      @AmritaBhortake Lady Of Shalot, Evelyn Rose (once they release them again) alnwick rose, Eden, James Galway, Harlow Carr, Crown Princess Margareta, Mary Rose, Gentle Hermione, and more Getrude Jekylls. Poets wife, distant drums would be bad either.

    The thing about Lady of Shalott is true. With DA roses that he sells as Shrub or Climber, it’s about the pruning technique that decides how the plant will behave

      Huh, that's really good to know. I kept wondering about it.

    I have been watching all of your David Austin rose videos, and I have to say, they are super helpful! I really appreciate you going into all of the nitty-gritty details, the good and the bad!There are certain David Austin roses, the popular ones that have lots of videos on TH-cam. But then there are others that I can barely find any information on and I happened to come across your channel and it’s been so helpful. I am interested in buying 2 to 3, David Austin climbing roses, and doing a wall on the front of my house. It’s super hard to choose a color and a type of rose because they’re all so freaking beautiful! I want them all! But I’ve been eyeing to James Galloway, even though I’m looking for a large bloom and they’re labeled as medium sized. The color and bloom structure is just so freaking gorgeous! But I also have my eye on the pilgrim, and the Eden climber

      Awww that made my day! I am so happy you found it helpful. All three are amazing choices. The James Galloway rose in my garden had performed so well this year. Even now in winter, as I type this, there are flowers on the vines. Absolutely gorgeous.

    Your roses are beautiful. I have about twenty David Austin roses and I think I need to add Strawberry Hill. We have had a very wet July here in the U.K. and most of us have blackspot on our roses. Thank you for your honesty showing us that you had it but managed to revive your plants. Great video.

      Thanks so much, Wendy for your kind words! This spring was brutal on my roses. We’ve never had such a wet spring in California. I was so upset and didn’t know how the roses would bounce back but they did! :)

    I'm so glad to see your 2023 rose garden tour! Your roses are gorgeous! The fence looks so nice and full w/DA climbing roses! Love them! Inspire me to do the same to my struggling one. I have bunnies/squirrels nibbling on my rose buds and moles/gopher eating the roots :( It's so frustrating. Lady of Shallot is a climbing one to me--the branches are long and leggy. TY & looking forward to more rose videos from you :)

      Thanks so much, Melissa. This year has brought it’s set of challenges but also a really beautiful bloom in the garden. I am so sorry to hear about the pests. Have you tried the gopher traps made out of chicken wire. You can do this for the roses that you are planting for the first time but also might be worth the effort in winter if you are losing these precious roses.

    Thank you for your garden tour. You have such beautiful roses. It has been my experience in Utah, zone 6b, that many of my David Austin Roses grow as climbers. Lady of Shallot is definitely a climber for me. It would be way too much work to attempt to force it to be a shrub and you would probably loose many blooms. It is an amazing continuously blooming climber here.

    • @AmritaBhortake
      @AmritaBhortake  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Awww thank you, Talitha. That is so kind of you. That is really interesting. I have recently learned that you can grow Lady of Shallot as a shrub or a climber. I agree with you, after 5 years, mine doesn't want to be grown as a shrub either. It is completely into climber mode. Lol

    Thank you Amrita. I planted 20 plus roses this year after watching your video. James G and Lady of S. are best vigorous growth I can see compare others. Try Munstead W. as it has best strong fragrance and dark color rose.(Remind me of some Indian native rose somehow).Thank you for all your video. Looking forward for more rose videos.

    Such a lovely garden, thank you! I would also like to know how the Albrighton rambler does in terms of re-flowering, so please keep us up to date :) I've heard that the flowers are tiny, but they didn't look that small to me?? As for LOS, I also tried to have her as a shrub but she really wanted to climb and now she is on an obelisk and doing very well. One of my favourite 💜So is Pilgrim by the way. Love to see more of your garden and beautiful roses 🌹

    • @AmritaBhortake
      @AmritaBhortake  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for your kind words! I will make a short video soon on Albrighton Rambler so watch out for it. I am glad that LOS is not behaving like this in my own garden. I wonder if it is the same rose that can be grown as a shrub or a climbing rose.

    • @shivalilla2469
      @shivalilla2469 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do think it is - it depends on how you prune it. However, nothing happened with my LOS as a shrub, absolutly nothing, but as soon as I gave her a obelisk she started to set shoots and buds :) Thank you - I´m looking foward to learn more about Albrigton rambler!! 😀@@AmritaBhortake

    Does the Albrighton Rambler rebloom well or the flowers last long? It looks so lovely filling/spilling your back fence. I applaud you for growing James Galway instead of Eden :). I love James's many ruffles petals (I have 2 Eden & 1 white Eden too). I ordered Generous Gardeners (for scent) and Lady of the Lake bareroots last fall but always like Albrighton! Thank you

    • @AmritaBhortake
      @AmritaBhortake  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Albrighton doesn’t bloom as well as the rest of my DA’s but this year I am on a mission to try and get it to bloom more. I am already seeing some blooms on it’s second round. The flowers are also more delicate than James Galway but last for 3-4 days on the plant. So not that bad.
      I am in love with James Galway. It is so romantic and beautiful. What are your thoughts about the generous garden and lady of lake? They both are on my list but I ended up buying strawberry hill and Gertrude Jekyll this year.

    Your garden is absolutely beautiful with so many beautiful roses. What part of CA are you in? I am in the east bay area but my roses didn't grow as fast as yours except Strawberry Hill which becomes a tall climbing rose. How often do you fertilize your roses?

    • @AmritaBhortake
      @AmritaBhortake  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much for your kind words. I usually fertilize my roses once in 3 months with organic fertilizers. If you have any specific questions or concerns, let me know and I can make a video on it.

      @@AmritaBhortake Did you ever run into any problems with white fly? The small white flying insects that’s everywhere in my rose bushes. I never had this problem in the past until this year and they just keep coming back. I have many DA climbing roses and they are tall. My growing zone is in Walnut Creek of Northern California. If you have experience on how to combat this issue it would be great learn from you. Thanks!

    did you get rid of it for good?

    • @AmritaBhortake
      @AmritaBhortake  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi James, yes, I did get rid of it last year. I cut down all the leaves and sprayed it with Neem oil and dish soap spray. That helped immediately. Let me know if you have any other questions. Hope this helps!

    What’s your secret for getting rid of powder mildew ?

    • @AmritaBhortake
      @AmritaBhortake  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use Neem oil and Copper fungicide alternatively on the plant. Most importantly, cut all the infected leaves off before you do the spray and throw them in trash. Don’t compost them. Also, look for any fallen leaves on the ground and dispose them as they will bring in recurring infection of the powdery mildew. Hope that helps.

    • @shproperties9974
      @shproperties9974 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@AmritaBhortake do you spray them through out the year or just the winter time?

    • @AmritaBhortake
      @AmritaBhortake  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      During the year, I only use the organic pesticides if I have any issues. In winter, I don’t spray anything until I do the prune in Jan for my spring blooms. That time I do Neem oil and copper fungicide and I have found great success with the plants throughout the year.
