I'm not a huge Iron Maiden fan, but man Bruce Dickinson is one of my heroes. In 1994, in the middle of the Bosnian war, he travelled to Sarajevo to play a gig for us. It Was very dangerous, there were snipers everywhere, who were shooting at everything that moves. There is also a movie about that gig called "scream for me sarajevo". My Brother Was at this concert, i was too young, so my mother would not let me go. Unfortunately my Brother was shot few weeks later, 2 days after his 18th birthday. Everytime i listen to Iron Maiden i am thinking of my Brother.

Yes, what Bruce did in '94 was unbelievable. And to hear from people who lived it from within, people who lost friends and relatives is shocking. This documentary is touching you even when you are an outsider. Let alone if you were in the middle of this. Sorry for your loss man!

But the band is the complete package. Has been in my top 3 favs since I discovered them in '83.

Without Steve Harris NOTHING goes in Iron Maiden, he's the heart and souls of the band since the beginning. Bruce is an awesome frontman and singer, one of the greatest hardrock/metal frontmen in history. I saw Maiden live several times and it was absolutely divine every time. I was born in 1972 and i grew up with with hard rock and metal thanks to my parents, may they both rest in piece. My father left me an absolute awesome collection of vinyl, from Black Sabbath to Deep Purple, Motörhead, Rolling Stones and many more, and ofc Iron Maiden.

You have finally discovered the greatest metal band in history!, Bruce Dickinson has easliy one of the greatest vocals in rock, Steve Harris the bassist is easily regarded as probably the greatest bass player on the planet even now, and Adrian and Dave well...the best guitar duo ever, total syncronicity, this was taken somewhere around 1983, since then their drummer has changed but their music has only grown over the years for the better, saw them in 1988 before starting high school with guns n roses as the opening act, you get your moneys worth, like their albums which are 2 hour epic albums. I suggest Fear of the Dark from their En Vivo dvd live in Santiago Chile.

Iron Maiden is the best live band ever. Their concerts are like metal operas. The bass player is Steve Harris, and he writes the majority of the songs. Bruce Dickinson is the singer and is considered one of the metal gods....he is also a commercial airline pilot, a poetry scholar, a world class fencer, and whatever the hell else he wants to do. Now all in their 60s the band still tours, still puts out killer music, and still has more energy on stage than any 5 bands half their age.

I had the pleasure of spending a couple of hours during a evening with (autobiography talk) tour in the last year where he, at the request from the crowd, sung some parts of songs acapella and the power and clarity of his voice is just amazing. Plus the energy he has on stage just puts most young bands front men to shame. It's the bass players band for the most part, he writes a lot of the songs and has been there since the beginning, Steve Harris is his name.

Same here, I progressed to Maiden after AC/DC. True great music is timeless and ageless. Not like the overproduced and corpatate shit now they call music. Music as a whole has devolved. Devo were correct. Or am I just getting to old?

Great reaction video! You should do more Maiden, like "Rime Of The Ancient Mariner", "The Trooper", "Alexander The Great", "Where Eagles Dare" or any song by Iron Maiden, since they are all great! :D You should also definitely check out Ronnie James Dio, both his solo stuff but also with Rainbow and Black Sabbath! His voice! He is amazing! The G.O.A.T in my book! Looking forward to watching your journey in to this great time for music!

Hey Aileen. I saw everyone who was anyone in the 80s and Iron Maiden hands down gave the best most consistent performances. Bruce's energy and Steve's pounding bass were amazing! Dave and Adrian"s guitars blew my mind! I suggest you start at the beginning, the 1st singer, Paul Di'Anno was very different than Bruce but equally talented. Enjoy the journey though this iconic band!

This is considered to be one of the all time greatest metal songs. It was the closing track on The Number of the Beast which was Bruce Dickinson’s first album with the band. And one of the cool things about this performance is it was a few days before the album was released so nobody in the crowd had heard the song before. Just imagine what a treat that would be.

This is most popular and most reacted to Iron Maiden song on TH-cam. From 1982 Live at Hammersmith. Bruce Dickinson at his best. You'll find major bass line with Steve Harris on bass. The founder and main song writer for Iron Maiden.
I've been listening to Iron Maiden since 1982, at the age of 15. To give you a complete lite of Iron Maiden recommendations, see my list below.
    Iron Maiden is:
Bruce Dickinson - Vocals Born: August 7, 1958 (age 63 years) Started with Iron Maiden in 1981, left in 1993 and rejoined in 1999 and present singer
Steve Harris - Bassist and Founder Born: March 12, 1956 (age 66 years), Started the band in 1975 and has never left
    Dave Murray - Guitarist Born: December 23, 1956 (age 65 years), 1976-1977, 1978- present
    Adrian Smith - Guitarist Born: February 27, 1957 (age 65 years), 1980-1990, 1999-present
    Janick Gers - Guiarist Born: January 27, 1957 (age 65 years), 1990 - present
    Nicko McBrain - Drums Born: June 5, 1952 (age 69 years), 1982 - present
Highlight of songs I'd recommend are:
    From Iron Maiden------
Phantom of the Opera - A must for live version
Strange World (this one will be totally different Iron Maiden)
    From Killers ------
Murders in the Rue Morgue (Very loosely influenced by Edgar Allen Poe's short story, a story of a fugitive being sought for murder)
Genghis Khan (an instrumental - perfect for air drumming)
Innocent Exile (continues the theme of Murders in the Rue Morgue of an unjustly accused fugitive)
Killers (A journey into the twisted mind of a deranged killer)
Prodigal Son(about a repentant man reminiscent of the prodigal son parable found in Luke 15 of the bible)
Purgatory(lyrics of song read like a poem)
Drifter (focuses on the possibility of new beginnings)
From The Number of the Beast------
Invaders (It graphically depicts the violence and horror of a defense against a Viking invasion)
The Prisoner (based on the UK television series that ran briefly in the late 1960’s)
22 Acacia Avenue (The continuation of Charlotte the Harlot)
The Number of the Beast (Inspired by a dream Bassist Steve Harris had after watching the movie the Omen2)
Run to the Hills (about the European arrival in America told from the perspective of both the oppressed Cree and the invading Anglo-Saxon soldiers)
Hallowed be Thy Name (about a man who is about to be put to death and what he goes through)
    From Piece of Mind------
Where Eagles Dare (based on an Alistair Maclean novel, (1967), and film (1968) about a WWII rescue of an American general from a Nazi stronghold in the Bavarian Alps
Revelations (Starts with the Hymnal from Oh God of Earth and Alter, the next two verses on the Hindu philosophy, the third verse in Yoga a snake called Kundalini that lives at the base of your spinal cord, during meditation a spiritual entity is created symbolizing the transcendental union with God)
Flight of Icarus (loosely based on the ancient Greek myth of Icarus)
The Trooper (based on the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava 1854,which took place during the Crimean War)
To Tame a Land (the song relays the story of Paul Atreides, Paul Muad'Dib, from the book Dune by Frank Herbert)
    From Powerslave------
Aces High (about aircraft dog fighting between the British and German fighter pilots of WWII)
2 Minutes to Midnight - About the Doomsday clock for the End of the World
Back in The Village (The continuation of the song The Prisoner)
Powerslave (about an arrogant pharaoh in his dying hours, he can't understand why he's about to die and fights it in vain)
Rime of the Ancient Mariner - (From the poem of the same name by Samuel Taylor Coleridge (story about about an ocean voyage)
    From Somewhere in Time-------
Wasted Years (A song about the admonition to appreciate the present and not to take things for granted)
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (based on a short story of Alan Sillitoe which was made into a 1962 film
Alexander the Great (About the story of Alexander the Great
From 7th Son of a 7th Son (a concept album)------
Infinite Dreams (Detailing someone who is tormented by paranormal dreams and nightmares)
The Evil That Men Do (Title taken from a quote in Shakespeare Julius Caesar but the song is unrelated)
The Clairvoyant (relates the reflections of the 7th Son of the 7th Son on his life and his powers)
    From Fear of the Dark------
Wasting Love (About the emptiness of relationships without love. Another Maiden ballad)
Fear of the Dark (About being afraid of the dark and the things in the dark that might be there - absolute a live performance for this one)
    From Brave New World------
The Wicker Man (about the apathy of our modern society and our egotistic disinterest of what is happening until something happens to us)
Ghost of the Navigator (The lyrics are a metaphor of life, with the ship sailing west towards the setting sun representing death)
Brave New World (Loosely based on the 1932 novel by Aldous Huxley)
Dream of Mirrors (Yet another song about reoccurring and maybe premonitory dreams)
Out of the Silent Planet (Supposedly inspired by the 1956 science -fiction film Forbidden Planet)
    From Dance of Death------
No More Lies (The lyrics deal with someone knows his time has come with the possibility of reincarnation)
Dance of Death (Orinally inspired by Ingmar Bergman's 1957 film The Seventh Seal - Another one to do as a live performance)
Paschendale (about the Battle of Passchendaele during WWI)
From A Matter of Life and Death------
Brighter than a Thousand Suns (About the dawn of the nuclear bomb age)
The Longest Day (about the WWII Normandy Invasion)
Out of the Shadows (Questioning the meaning of life)

The truly remarkable thing about Maiden is that they have not just endure the years but have come out on top through ins-and-outs of various fashion and whatever... Their audience is bigger than it ever has been and I saw them live a few years ago and it made me feel like a fourteen-year-old all over again. They are every bit as energetic and sound fantastic to this day. If you get a chance to see the second leg of the legacy of the Beast tour that they are on right now go do it! Great reaction. Imo Bruce's best live performances were recorded in the 2000s when it comes to vocals. Their studio albums have always been amazing, but they used to perform for over 2 hrs three times a week and as you can hear, it took so toll on his voice. This is a hard song to sing but i think he did a better job of singing this sing during mid-2000s and early 2010, especially after he took classes to improve his voice. One of his best vocal performance is a live version of his song Tears of the dragon. The one where he is wearing baggy shorts and just vibing.

Whenever I see the younger generation discovering for the first time and embracing the types of rock and metal for which I was fortunate enough to have grown up with as these bands began their journey (I was a kid), it makes me so very proud to witness the same types of reactions which I also experienced during that same initial exposure (great music will always have an audience, no matter the generation).

A few things for you, as well as being one damn great singer he is also a commercial air line pilot and in some videos you'll see him flying the band's jet, Ed force 1... He's also a world class fencer! (The sword type, not as in putting fences up lol ) he has also recovered from throat cancer and his voice now is just as brilliant if not even better! You have so many gems ahead but I'd recommend paschendale (live) and rime of the ancient mariner... As well as they're latest offering, the writing on the wall (w a breathtaking video!!)

Even Bruce Dickinson's solo work is amazing! "The Chemical Wedding" and "Tears of the Dragon" are great ones to start with.
But yeah, all of Maiden are fantastic. The band lineup changed a little over time, but at this point in time it was:
BRUCE DICKINSON (Vocals) - This was his first tour with the band promoting the first album with him, 3rd album overall, replacing Paul Di'anno who had a different style. Bruce temporarily quit in the mid 90's and they did 2 albums with Blaze Bayley. Again, different style but great. Bruce returned in 1999 and his been there since.
STEVE HARRIS (Bass) - Maiden is his baby. He started the band and named it. He writes a great deal of their songs but Bruce writes, too.
DAVE MURRAY (Guitar) - Like Steve, he is on every album. He's the one with blonde hair.
ADRIAN SMITH (Guitar) - Played on almost every album. He quit in 1990 and was replaced with JANICK GERS. When Bruce returned, so did Adrian, but they kept Janick, so they've had 3 guitarists since 1999.
CLIVE BURR (Drums) - Played on the first 3 albums. Left the band after this tour for physical reasons, replaced with NICKO McBRAIN who has been with them since 1983

Miss Aileen Senpai, you asked how they can do this? How can he sustain his voice through all of these sets while bouncing around the stage and doing this so flawlessly. I've known a few people in bands who followed after Iron Maiden, AC/DC and the other greats. The short version is this is not a job for them. This is not a career. This is not an Operatic performance that they must prepare for painstakingly.
Pure and simple, this is love. They are genuinely and completely in love with what they are doing.
This is not work for them, this is their life’s dream fulfilled.

I got stationed at Pearl Harbor Hawaii in February 1985. I went through the gate and on the sign it said Iron Maiden tickets. I bought a ticket and rode Da Bus to the show at The Neil Blaisdale Arena in downtown Honolulu. They were AWESOME!!! The show was March 31 1985. Honolulu was a great place to see bands that were either going to Japan or coming back. I got to see many bands I was stationed there for almost 10 years in The Navy. I can always say Iron Maiden was my first band I saw there. Years later I’m hanging out in the Jazz Celler a local heavy metal bar and at the bar is one of the lead guitar players for Maiden. I asked one of my security guard friends if that was him and they said yes he lives here when they’re not on tour.
