I'm 41, and I love this comment for a couple of reasons. For one, I feel the same way, and that's the power of great music to span generations. And also, I don't know whether you mean "tear" as in crying tears, or "tears", as in ripping apart...but either way, I'm right there with you. It tears me apart and tears run down my face.

The essence of Pink Floyd is that they never rush!. They take all the time they need to make their statement, both musically and lyrically. If they need a 5 minute intro, they take it. This is one reason that they seem to be enveloping the listener in a blanket of warm stardust. An embrace should never be rushed, and neither should Pink Floyd! Never be afraid to feel or express those deep emotions. It's what makes us both human and divine!

In my opinion the first few verses challenge the listener to reflect on the weak & the weary. The third verse offers hope that we might change and the rest of the song uplifts us to try to retain that new hope just as you pointed out.

Especially in the lyrics and the message conveyed. It captures your soul and takes it to a place of truth and reality.
It does affect you hard as you get older. Makes you reflect and see how you can or could have affected someone with a simple gift of generosity, to raise their self-esteem.

What a thoughtful and honest reaction to this very emotional and powerful Floyd song you have made! I'm sure its been gone over by hundreds by now but your feeling the inherent sadness was totally on purpose as this song is all about homelessness and how as humans it's just easier for us to "turn away" rather than doing anything about it. That breakdown in the middle you mentioned was meant to make you see how beauty and sadness can walk hand in hand, and make you think about how sad you feel about the topic. Then the long guitar solo is the catharthis which evokes anger, sadness, hope and finally resolution. I saw this tour back in '87 and '88 and then again in '94 so i had the privilege to see this song live and feel the immediacy of what you feel. I'm so glad to see the music Pink Floyd being enjoyed by the next generation after mine. It's timeless of course.

As wonderful as Pink Floyd are, and as fantastic as their more well-known songs are, this song and “Keep Talking,” are time and again in my top five for Floyd tunes. Never apologize for getting emotional listening to music, embrace it instead, because for the duration of the song, when you’re letting your emotions flow, you’re doing the exact same thing as the musicians are doing: you’re sharing in the human collective.

The emotion you feel is so natural because what Gilmour plays through his guitar is so natural. It's from his soul to our souls. NOBODY can make their guitar SING like his.

This particular song hits people in the feels (in my opinion) is because it describes helping and loving those who are hurting. If you have any hurt in your life, it reaches into your heart and feels like a hug at the same time.

    Aileen,
I am back because I like your channel and I love Pink Floyd..... One of the best rock bands EVER. As you will see & hear. David's vocals are grand! Wait until he gets to the guitar solo, so special. These feelings are typical of a Pink Floyd song. Great smile girl!
When I am having dry eyes, I listen to PInk Floyd and they don't stay dry.. YES tears of joy!!!! And I am not ashamed in writing that. Truth is the truth.
AND the one ladies solo at 10:00 something --SPECIAL. Permit me to offer you an explanation the thrill and joy of such talent & skill.

I really “discovered” Pink Floyd a few years ago. I was aware of them for years but never really got into them until about 4 years ago. Since then I listen to some PF everyday. “No band” moves me like PF. I have tears all the time, but they also make me happy and give me hope. They touch my soul. This is probably my most favourite of their songs. My other favourite is High Hopes. In fact the entire Division Bell live concert (1994) is a masterpiece. I love watching people’s reactions to PF. Yours was excellent.🇨🇦👍

Gilmour a guitar God. He can convey so much with so little. He uses phrasing so well and he lets his notes breathe. He is also a criminally underrated singer. Floyd is not just music its art.

EVERY guitar wants David Gilmour for Christmas... I was fortunate enough to see them live on the 'Pulse' tour. I had tears my eyes the entire performance... Love your channel!

Great reaction to such a beautiful song from a band that stands out from all the rest. I was so glad you played the Delicate Sound of Thunder concert version. I love the PULSE concert immensely, but there's something extra special about this concert, and it all starts from the very first second of the concert video.
I saw how you reacted when you heard Margret Taylor cry out those notes near the end of the song @ 9:58. Those three ladies, in my opinion, were the best trio of all the great ladies Pink Floyd has ever featured.
I hope you react to The Great Gig in the Sky from this concert. It sends shivers through your spine.

I've just subscribed to your channel, I'm so glad I did, I saw your beautiful reaction to this wonderful song & I thought, "I want to see more. It's clear to me, you don't just listen to music, you absorb it, it wraps around your heart, thank you for sharing that deep emotion with us. Pink Floyd have always been utterly outstanding, the writing, the musicianship & as you've discovered, the heartfelt emotion in their songs. Dave Gilmour is one of the finest guitarists ever, he truly makes that instrument sing, as for his vocals, they get in your head, you feel what he's feeling, a very rare talent indeed. Their shows were very elaborate, quadraphonic all around sound, the light show was something to behold, an experience that stays with you forever. It's been years since I saw them last (88), Wembley stadium, London, one of the finest, most memorable shows I've ever seen. Thank you for sharing your love of music with us, I look forward to seeing more.
