Friede vs vort is like when a villain thinks that they’re strong. Then someone completely speed blitzes them without getting hit once and then afterwards the villain make his surprised and scared face. Then says Nani and gets obliterated by a single attack.
It actually makes sense that she lost to s.o.c , since her lore states she is also a unkindled one, meaning she failed to kill soul of cinder (its also probably why she has a burnt face)

@@havilavi472 If/when you fight her again, pay attention to the very end of the 2nd phase cut scene. Right as Ariadel screams, and Friede stands, you will notice she's *embered* and kinda 'burns' in the same way the Ashen One does whenever he use's an ember.
She failed to kindle the flame. She either tried to link it or usurp it. Either way, she was not strong enough. Then she fled to the painting, probably to put some ice on that burn.
God that first clash with Gundyr at the very beginning was so badass.. the boss infighting in this game are actually legit, they actually have a cinematic feel to them. it would be cool if they were somehow a part of the normal game.

@Captain_Morgan Friede's phase 1 is very docile and has less hp, it would be a non factor, judging by how much hp Twin Princes had after the fight, they would probably have beaten Friede even with her 2 phases. SoC has less hp in phase 2 so it's possible he might have lose against Friede with 2 phases.
Friede is such a badass! The best fight in all franchise to me. No other boss has been so much fun to fight than her. Her dialogue, her stance, her moveset, everything is perfect. From ticked all the boxes with her.

But unfortunately she was only strong enough to think she was the best, but not strong enough to be right to think, she eventually fought the Soul of Cinder and lost, failing to burn the flame and becoming an Unkindled. In her shame she fled to overtake the painted world upon being reborn
This was such a good watch. She's one of my favorites alongside The Dragonslayer Armor, Champion Gundyr, and Gael; they're easily the most entertaining to watch. I'm still sad you don't get her dual-wielding moveset with her Scythe. It would've made for a sick Bloodbore style weapon.

The pontiff battle was the perfect amount of flashiness. I would love to see a fight with them having more similar health/damage. I feel like the dancer fight had a lot of potential too, but it didn't work out unfortunately. Dragonslayer armour actually put up a really good fight, that was a close one. I did expect Lorian to win, but because of the revives, not the teleport. That was actually pretty surprising to me. Lord of Cinder won as well, which didn't surprise me too much. It seems she has a lot of trouble fighting multiple phases.
When doing 2-phase bosses, you need to add contestants more HP, because Friede here only uses one of her phases, and she has 3, while SoC and Twin Princes use 2 phases.
It feels like Sulyvahn could have genuinely won this if his AI wasn't designed to only call upon the Stand with a slow animation right in front of his foe's face. The dude clearly has the tools and behaviors to be a smart and challening foe, but it's super apparent that he's designed tightly around players and their respective mechanics. He probably got some nerfs when From Software decided to not make him the final boss too.

However, two key things that hinder him are his phase change taking too long (and doing too little damage) and his Stand taking too long to manifest while also appearing right next to him, making it take damage directed at him while doing nothing to block it. Against a player, this is balanced pretty well, and we have reason to believe that, in-universe, Sulyvahn has the smarts to know to retreat from bigger foes, time the Stand better, etc. However, because the AIs weren't programmed to fight each other, one of the smartest guys in the game still fights like a fool. It's a shame to see him kicking butt only to do a Phase 2 into Stand and soak up tons upon tons of damage.

He very likely originally had it as a Gwyn reference. Aldrich never seems to use that attack against other bosses, only players. I would like to see how much damage it can do to something that is not dodging the arrows like crazy.
