Floor 8: Yukiko Castle - Contrarian King (Very Hard)
Strategy: There's two ways to do this fight, you can go the safe route and equip the Persona "Rakshasa" whom is resistant to Physical Attacks. Or the risky route with King Frost with an inherited Ice Boost from Jack Frost to dish out heavy Magic damage, I went with the latter since I'm pretty high level for this. Start this out like any other boss with a Rakunda debuff on him and a Tarukaja buff on the MC, If you have Diamond Shields or Super Sonics, I suggest using them for this fight as things could get messy real fast. He will always use Red Wall his first turn so you don't need to start buffing your parties defenses until their second turn. After that it pretty much comes down to whether he uses Rampage or not, but if you used your Super Sonics and Diamond Shields you will have a much higher chance of surviving. If your using Rakshasa your guaranteed to survive but the rest of your party wont be so fortunate, which is why I decided to use King Frost so that I could end the fight faster.
Comment: This fight is extremely luck-based, as he can go from not using Rampage for 6+ turns to using it 3 turns in a row. I highly recommend getting level 22 or 23 to fuse King Frost or Rakshasa. Also I have no idea how Yosuke kept landing Criticals, if only he would have Crit when he was knocked down to daze him! =P

I have to say, the first time I fought this, it used a red wall so I thought to myself that it was weak to fire, so by the time It expires I used yukiko's agi, I was really confused why it didn't damage him

I can only get him to like halfway with buffs before he Rampages and one shots my party. I grinded to level 18 for him but it wasn’t enough lol

The alternative boss of kanji lvl is easier than this
@@tarantinopipp7455 like, having titan the fire lion with auto-rakukaja and the medium damage atack(and kanji obviusly) practically sweep him out before que could do a dangerous move, so in the end it felt dissapointing and like i not earned that weapon compared with yuki one.
I was at level 30 when I fought this guy for the first time on Hard difficulty, and he still killed me with Rampage when I was a 75% health. Easily the most bizarre loss I have ever had in a video game. the only way too beat this is either with a Persona immune to physical damage or physical mirror spam, otherwise the player has to hope he doesn't do rampage.
That’s because this guy is probably broken. Other optional bosses aren’t remotely as strong.
He has no weaknesses, a good amount of health and most importantly he one shots with rampage if you don’t have mid game resistance or higher.
Rampage has a ridiculous amount of damage considering hysterical slaps is hardly a threat.
What I meant by “broken” is that rampage it’s so wrong it seems a programming error.
Ikr, im level 18 and i almost beat him twice with my super op original start(lol, use diamond shiled thing, boost partys hit/evasion, lower bosses hit evasion, lower bosses attack.) we got him to maybe 1/7th of his health then he used rampage once, it knocked out everyone besides me then next turn he used it again....

I saw a strat on game faqs that says to only use healing spells, items, normal attacks and attacks that cost hp. This cheats the bosses script not making him use rampage. Try it! It worked for me!

This boss is such BS for being so early in the game. That rampage is WAY too strong, and using red wall despite the fact that he already absorbs fire to trick you into thinking he’s weak to fire is stupid too.
I did this fight at around lvl 22-ish and I got SOO lucky man. 4 crits in a battle and he missed my mc with rampage so I was able to finish it off
Geez... 4 criticals in a row and he missed the hysterical slap AND Rampage.
Talk about luck!!! I went up against this guy at lvl 20 and he killed me and my team with one rampage.
Then again I was playing on very hard but even still...

In terms of difficulty (and how much pain it caused me in general), this one was harder than Kanji and Rise. Lol.
rampage may be modified, but that thing despite being lower leveled aparrently has some higher stats than shadow kanji
Tried to get this guy down many times (unsuccessfully) but one thing I noticed is that he doesn't seem to cast rampage if you dont use skills. Could just be coincidence though

Beat this guy on level 18 using eligor with sukunda from skill card and tarukaja from fusion, cu sith with tarunda(from fusing slime), yusuke spamming sukukaja, and chie with bufu as the damage dealer. If smt teaches me anything its how to use buff and debuff fr.

As long as you apply buffs consistently and hope that you’re lucky enough for it to not use rampage at any point in the fight it’s not as difficult as it seems

I've barely ever had sonic punch crit, how'd you do it?
Get bufula skill asap!!! And use sonic punch with kanji, if you can down him with crit it gets a bit easier. But my advice is replay the fight again and again until you can get crit. It is unfortunately luck based (with crit I beat him at lvl 16)
I Beat this dude at lvl17 on hard mode
MC had an eligor (resists Phys) with tarunda, sukunda and bufu, kept alternating between those every turn, Chie using bufu every turn, yousuke buffing everyone but the MC with sukukaja and yukiko on healing and item duty
I beat him right when I got Yukiko before, it took luck & many tries but I didn't use any buffs or debuffs, I also let everyone act freely(& have been but this time after my 13th try or so I'mma control everyone, I was playing it on my Vita several times when I beat him, My Vita had gotten stolen so I had to get the game all over again which means new game, I've beat this boss several times due to me going through PS Vita's a lot, Now that it is on Xbox I'm playing it again & this is my last time playing it on anything different I'm sticking to Xbox, I am currently fighting him now & I am using the buff & debuff moves, I got him on 1hp 3 times & he used Rampage even after i used Rakunda & sukunda, RNG is so trash, I hate luck based shit, RNG is in supply bins in Apex, I can check numerous supply bins & find no gun or if I'm lucky I found a pistol meanwhile some clown comes out of nowhere opens up the one supply but I didn't get to and he gets an assault rifle in a submachine gun and obliterates my whole team💀 I don't like anything that is luck based so I hate him as a boss, I rather rely on my skill & knowledge, I'll get him eventually, im just tryna beat him so o dont have to turn my system off & start on floor 1 again, i have my system on quick turn on mode but sometimes it freezes when it doesn't full restart so I don't wanna chance it & I don't wanna stay up after 4:30am it's already 3:43🤦🏿♂️ I'm level 20 & so is everyone else except Yukiko who's on 16 which is bs they coulda had her be whatever level you are or at least let her gain double XP to catch up.
Edit 4:07am: I just beat him, ok stragegy, spam Yarunda & Sukunda, Sukunda is you wanna use first, decrease his hit & evasion first then decrease his defense, make sure you have refills of sp(let Yosuke be the one to use the 50SP on your main character when you get low about 30SP as Chie does the most damage with Mabufu) make Yosuke use Sonic punch every time, Chie Mabufu, then have Yukiko use the Ice Cube attack/use diamond shield/Assault to buff everyones attack(use this first) then the diamond shield, then ice cube, use her as the healer, media to keep everyone healed especially Yosuke as he will use up a lot of HP, with this strategy on repeat I had one rampage used against me but only Yosuke got hit with it & died, i used Chie to revive him with the revive items I got from entering the dungeon from level one & fighting every shadow I see so that I can get chest's & keys for chest's, then i had Yukiko use Media so everybody can heal, use Sukunda & Tarunda. I had 3 ice attacks, I used one ice cube though, Yukiko was doin a lot of healing & item using & stuff, but whenever you don't need to heal, have her use ice cube, as I typed this, I stopped to make sure I saved it on MULTIPLE saves just to be safe.

When i 1st time battling this dude, i realized how stupid i am. I thought his weakness is Fire so i was like, Using Agidyne because i thought it would be works. But eh... it isn't.

I won level 19, yukiko level 16, ice electricity, enough damage, just use items / skills that allow you to draw and lower his defense I won him the second time

Took me about 5-10 tries even to beat him on Normal difficulty. Even Kanji was easier than him
Um I’m only level 17 and I’m trying to fight him lol, did I not grind enough? The bird boss was already such a piece of shit
You can still beat him, I beat him several times right after I got her but dam it took like over 10 tries & luck
Fighting this thing at lv16 on hardest difficulty is more brutal than anything in the main game
Just had to pray rampage misses after buffing and debuffing and I swear I probably only crit him once in three seperate fights
@@prestondbz6368Yeah, keeping tarunda and sukunda stick on him for the whole fight is the only way to win, but this also greatly lower your damage output since Yu is the only one with these skills by that time.
For Yu, giving him the cloth that give extra 50HP plus a physical resistant persona , he can face tank rampage if HP is full , Yukiko can survive too if she guard when healing is not needed, the others can only rely on dodging.
This thing, while it stated it is neutral to physical, ice and electricity, it actually take 50% more damage from ice, electricity while 50%less from physical, Chie's bufu deal 60 damage per hit while a critical Sonic punch only deal 40 so I just use Jack Frost instead of gambling for critical hit, though it carry some risk if it decide to use rampage on that turn...
i.hate this one... it seems unfair that once they do the rampage... the hp is all gone even.though after doing tarunda

its optional you can skip it and come back whenever you want although the weapon he drops wont be as effective later on.
no it's only for getting a new weapon for the former host of the palace, i mean because this is yukiko castle, you will get a weapon(fan) for her
also you can get courage point as well....
but it's the best doing this at the same time when you want to rescue kanji

Fought him on the PS2 version (not Golden), but assuming they're similar, he's not that hard. If you're leveled that is. Surprised Chie's Rampage wasn't used in this video, pretty sure it's stronger than Bufu.

I wouldn't even call it cheatin, this boss is CHEATIN!
This boss is so damn corny in the worst way. You really do need physical resist and crap ton of evasion to even have a shot to beat this fraud. Your best bet is to lower this guys defenses and just wail on him with something like a Ice Boost Jack Frost while praying he doesn't click Rampage on you. On the bright side,the reward is relatively worth it consider a Fan with +50 SP for Yukiko is putting in work for me right now.
I beat this guy like ten minutes ago, i tried like five times and my party is at lvl 17 (mc at 18)
