  • The 7 important reasons that led me to choose the Ninja 400 as my first motorcycle!
I've had my 2019 Kawasaki Ninja 400 for almost two years now, but I can very clearly remember the stress and anxiety that went into trying to decide which motorcycle to choose as my first.
I did so much research that it was almost overwhelming, but eventually I found the Ninja 400, which ticked these 7 things off to be the best first motorcycle for me.

My first was an 86 RDLC 350...loved it, but the 2 stoke was smokey !! I'd love to get one of these Ninja 400 but it's a 1/2 or so too tall. I'd like to be flat footed all in all. But the price is right for me too, as the alt would be the Vulcan S 650. More money, but I really love the cruiser style! Great review though! If I get one of these, it's a forever bike for me, light weekend duty and commuting to work with really good gas mileage!!

@@tianyudi1999 The Honda CBR300R 30hp is a joke in horsepower department as it is a single-cylinder ever Ninja 300cc which 40hp blow it out of the water and 400cc is 50hp to bad Honda keeps refuses to sell there parallel-twin CBR250RR 41hp model which has it’s been restricted to the Asia market and just like the Ninja ZX-25R 51hp in-line 4cyl and there was even plan for Honda CBR300RR twin but never happen.

I got my licence from 'Motorcycle Riding School' at Slacks Creek. I bought my bike from Ultimate Kawasaki on the Gold Coast but that's the school they recommended and use.
As long as you have had a car licence for a year you can apply to get a bike learners, you have to do a pre learner course and answer some questions to get your L's....I really enjoyed the learner course and I found I picked up riding fairly quickly, the licencing process is straight forward, just make sure you go into the course with a mature attitude and listen to the instructors.

I am looking for my first bike and I want the ninja but I have been loosing sleep on thinking I would make the wrong decision so thank you for you're video. I am from America and I had to retire early from law enforcement due to an accident and now I am disabled I don't think I could ride more than 25 to 30 mins. At a time but I suffer from severe depression, anxiety and PTSD , so my psychiatrist said I need a hobby, I need to get out some and not stay in the bed all day so I don't work so it will just be something to get out and enjoy a couple days a week for just about a half hour or so thank you for this video it has really helped out a lot...

Yeah when I started researching for getting a first street bike as my experience was only dirt bikes the Ninja 400 came up again and again as a great starter bike value that even seasoned riders liked. Here in US they go for 4-5k new and insurance considers the 400 to be an economy commuter bike not sports or touring so its in the cheapest tier for insurance and taxes where I live.

    • @Yerocco
      @Yerocco ปีที่แล้ว

I believe it’s that classification for insurance thanks to it being 399 cc. I could very much be wrong. Just got the bug to get a bike and I’ve all but made my mind up on this bike being my first.

I went with a Yamaha R3, I absolutely love it. Mines not stock though, and because of that I recommend the Ninja 400. Easily the better “investment” bike, and makes decent power with a full system exhaust, and ECU Flash. I do however prefer the looks of the R3, and after quite a bit of tinkering/money I’m making Ninja 400 power. Great first bike. Both are amazing little machines.

These reasons are the exact same reasons that lead me to buy this bike as my first bike in 2020 and I have not regretted a thing. The one thing I did notice is that once you get comfortable with the bike and you've been using it to commute for awhile, you do start to find a desire for more power. I feel this mainly was because I was doing a lot of freeway riding in a straight line. if you're concerned 400 might be too little power for a first bike to stay interesting for a long time, I encourage you to take it up and down a mountain or through some windy roads. I did this and found that 400 was more than enough power to have an absolute blast in the mountains, and gain a new appreciation for the handling of this incredible machine. The windy roads proved to be a nice challenge for your riding skills and you don't need a whole lot of power as you're going through windy roads. My point is the actual top speed of the bike is not a huge problem if you find something that IS fun that doesn't require you do be going 150+ down a straight line. I bought my 2020 ninja 400 white brand new off a dealership for a little over 5k. Her name is Boo and I can't wait to see how far she'll take me

Lots of great points. It’s pretty much fact that among the beginner class sportbikes, the 400 is king in performance and value. It’s just a bike that felt right to sit on too, the very first time I went to a dealership. They nailed it on the ergonomics. Then add the reliability, and great looks. I got mine 9 months ago and have yet to find anything to complain about in this bike. Cheers!

As of June 2022, your comment about demand going up is spot on. I've always been a car guy, and with gas prices going up the way they are and the significantly lower cost of entry for motorcycles (could buy a brand new Kawasaki Ninja 400 for what I'd spend on buying a 10-15 year old PoS car), it's forced me to consider looking at getting a motorcycle (primarily looking at the Ninja and Z 400 models) as my primary form of transportation, and used prices for these are wild (someone in my town is asking for $6k USD, above MSRP, for a 2021 Ninja 400).

Personally I wanted something that handles great as I wanted to do a little bit of track ridding but I needed more power than just 47. I ended up getting an older version of this bike, a 97 zxr400 4 cylinder with about 60hp.
Best decision I made in my life. It handles amazing, it has plenty of power for everything I do with it, good fuel efficiency and it fits a 6 foot, 96 kilos dude just fine. I don’t think I’ll ever sell this bike it’s just that good.

You closed the deal for me on a Ninja 400 as my next bike. I’m still in the break-in period for my 2023 Ninja 400 and could not be happier.
I've owned a lot of bikes over the years. My first was a Yamaha TTR250, a super solid dual sport. My biggest was a Can Am Spider Touring bike. But I put the most miles on my Harley Road King.
But those bikes don't meet my needs now. I'm older and don't have much interest in touring. I'm also not interested in wrestling with getting a big bike on a paddock stand or a lift, let along moving it around in the garage.
But the Ninja does everything I want easily and for not a lot of money all while looking really great! Relative to previous bikes, the maintenance is pretty easy as well.
Thank you very much for the help getting to this decision.

My first bike was 1997 zzr 250 Kawasaki then I bought 2000 zzr1100 a year later rode that for 11 years now I’ve down sized to a 2019 Suzuki vstrom 650 which is definitely not as quick as the 1100 but has been a surprisingly fun bike to ride and with laws getting a lot more stricter I don’t get into as much trouble and is definitely a lot more comfortable for doing long trips

Ninja 400 best choice I ever made. Riding it for a year now (whole year) and never had any trouble. Looks epic, pulls great specially if its your first bike it will be really fun exploring how quick can you get with it. I bought the Remus slip on exhaust it has really really crispy sound that i never get bored of :))) . Also I went with thicker seat cause after half an hour its gets little uncomfy. Right now I wouldn't trade it for anything (myb cause its my first bike idk) but really fun machine. It gets a lot attention too cause it looks bigger (wider) than old 250 or 300 cc bikes . Take a look at one before you skip it thats all im asking :D !

Just bought a brand new 2021 ninja 400. I went with fire red bc green wasn't their color this year. But it will be my 3rd bike overall but I had little experience on those bikes. Bc only ride couples times a month bc of me being a truck driver. But this 400 will be my first daily driver bike to and from work everyday. So can't wait to pick it up in a few hours and slowly upgrade it over time..

Greetings from USA! Great vid, love ur enthusiasm and personality. Im 39 and haven't been on a bike for about 11 years. My first and last bike was a 2006 Ninja 250. Loved the bike, but must confess within the first week of owning it I realized how underpowered it was. Thats even despite my experience considering it was my first ever bike. Im looking for some new excitement as Im almost 40, so looking to get a new bike and Im sold on the 400. Based off specs and videos its going to be plenty of bike for me. I think Ill be getting a 2021 Passion Red with ABS brakes. Take care and be safe!

I don't own one but it's damn apparent that Kawasaki owns the sport 400 class with the ninja-you see all the demonstration videos-the thing is super quick, great handling, and top end close to 120 mph/193 kph.One other thing of a practical nature is that insurance costs are lower compared to sport 650's and up.

I ride Honda, but appreciate this video to assist new riders and bike buyers to select their ‘perfect for them’ bike.
I downsized from an 1100cc Honda and had a sit on the Ninja 400, but found the bars to narrow and the bike felt small. Having said that, that’s expected coming off big bikes. I went with the CBR500R.
The small/mid capacity section is a pretty cool and competitive group of bikes. Plenty to choose from for all shapes, sizes and needs.
Cool and honest review mate, that will be helpful for others. Keep it up.

Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback and support. Yea the lightweight class is really coming into it's own and it makes sense, you don't need a 1000cc later bike or even a 600 supersports on everyday roads. I would be lying if I said they didn't have their appeal but for an everyday rider I think anywhere between 400-650 is ideal.
How do you find living with the 500r coming from the 1100?

I would definitely love to have a test ride in a 400. The CB400 I got, screams like anything. In low revs, it struggles, but man...as soon as you hit 7k+ revs, it's sweeeeeet... I wonder how torquey the 400 is in the low rev range.

My first bike was a Yamaha R3. I loved it. Perfect beginner bike. I also did my hours of research on beginners bike when I got it new in 2017. I traded it for a Suzuki Boulevard C50T. I loved it. Then i traded for a New Nissan versa 5 speed manual and a 1985 Kl250D project bike.... I felt unsafe on a bike with all the texting and driving.

Man , i have the same doubt right now, haha, lookoing to get my first bike soon,
I am very tempted to get the ninja 400, is it a good option for the first bike? Nice that you live on the gold coast, I lived there in 2007, but I'm Brazilian and I'm back in Brazil now. The only bad thing about a motorcycle on the gold coast must be not being able to carry your surfboard. Congratulations on the video, very enlightening

I ride the Ninja 400 2020 model (48hp Japanese model) and I thought long and hard on what to get and time has shown that I made the right choice! I'm in Japan and with rumors of the next ZX25R around the corner at the time and with existing competition like the R3, Duke390, and some Honda models; it was a difficult decision but in the end I chose the Ninja 400 because it could do it all. Personally I prefer the look of the Honda CBR250r but it was a 250cc engine and was a little more expensive than the 400cc of the Ninja.
Since I got the bike, numerous videos (both in the West and in Japan) comparing the Ninja400 against its competition inc the new zx25r has shown that the Ninja400 comes out on top. It may not have the fancy electronics like couple of its competition but in terms of raw power, ridability, practical use and cost/performance ratio; it is the class leader.
I will admit that originally I wanted the NInja zx6r (and still do lol) but because of bike license laws + cost meant I 'settled' with the Ninja 400 but I don't regret it one bit. I commute with this bike, take it to the twisties and go on trips with it and it handles it all perfectly.
If you are on the fence about this bike compared to it's competition, you should not hesitate.

Very helpful review! Planning to get a R3 or Ninja 400 next week here in Sweden. What do you think about the KRT (Green color) edition you have. I personally am not a big fan of that color tbh and the dealer here only has the KRT edition. Important for me is though that I can sell the bike next year again, so that the value stays stable and people are actually interested in the green KRT edition. What are your thoughts on this?

    • @Kwackajack
      @Kwackajack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Personally I like the KRT editions the best. There's a video on the channel where I talk about bikes as an investment, here in Australia the price of the Ninja has gone up and I would make a profit if I decided to sell it now.
