KOF Klub: King of Fighters 96 Desperation Moves AND SDMs

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 18 ก.ย. 2024
- In 1996, SNK (obviously) released KOF 1996 to the world. There were a SHITLOAD of shake ups in this new edition. For example
Takuma was out, sadly. Yuri replaces him. Yuri's empty spot in the Women team is Filled by Kasumi from Art of Fighting 3
Heidern's out, too. He is replaced by Leona. Heidern will not appear until 98 and 2001 and then thats it from him.
Iori has replaced the hospitalized billy an Eiji with two ladies: Vice and Mature, Rugal's secretaries. Yes, Iori has become a pimp.
Speaking of Rugal, he's Deader than Dead.
(The best one of the changes) The Boss Team, consisting of Geese Howard, Wolfgang Krauser (The Fatal Fury bosses) and Mr Big (The Art of Fighting baddie) make their debut in this game....only to suddenly dissapear after this installment, never to return again...unless you count Geese being in the console version of 2002 and XI, which also had Mr Big back in, as well as the Boss Team's triumphant return in 98 Ultimate Match. There's whispers on the grapevine that Geese will be in 2002 Unlimited Match as well.
A lot of characters who use projectiles had there's rendered useless by making them either short range, physical style-energy empowered attacks, or removed overall, with Kyo's fireball being removed for his now signature flame fist combo. Some get lucky enough to retain theirs
So right now, other than changed effects, most of the character's DMs remain the same, but now they gain an SDM version (SUPER desperation move) variant, with more powerful animations and MASSIVE DAMAGE. I'll be showing the SDMs after their normal counterparts.
For the most part, most remain unchaged, save for a few. Some characters now get TWO DMs. That means more than FOUR supers for some.
Terry: Triple Geyser: He now shoots three Power Geysers, much like in its first incarnation in Fatal Fury 3.
Athena: Shinign Crystal Bits: SDM version has her floating while glowing. You can now dleay the shooting of her crystals.
Kensou: Has two new supers which are variants of his Dragon God Drubbing
Chang: Has six new endings to The Beating He Was Convicted For. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna record ALL of them, this vid's long enough as it is.
Leona: V-Slasher: DiVes to the opponent and slashes them in the shape of a V, obViously. Did oyu like how I capitalized all the Vs?
Kasumi: Super Ecstasy Crunch (For Japanophiles, Chou Kasana Ate): Kasumi does a super version of her energy slash....which she learnt from her daddy, Ryuhaku. Man, I didn't think he'd have such a sexy daughter.
King: Illusion Dance is now easier to do. Not much of a difference but MAN I'm happy! We all know how irritating it was to perform in 94 and 95
Iori: The SDM variant of his Maaiden Masher now has him knocking you to the ground, while Iori sits at his meal, back to you, ripping away happily, until he turns and sees the player. Fourth Wall smashing aside, he then gets the hump and pounds on his opponent.
Mature: Heaven's Press: If it looks familiar, then it is, cos its the fricking exact same as Rugal's God Ptess.
Vice: Legs of Hell: Vice throws the opponent to the ground, while wrapping her legs around htem. HEr tights put Chun-Li's to shame, FACT
Geese: RAISING STORM! 'Nuff Said
(Yes, I'm aware some say "Raging", but "raising" souudns better, plus its written that way in many instruction booklets and in the ingame movelists on most of the console ports. NOW SHUT UP)
Krauser: Kaiser Wave: It was a normal special for Rugal, and here its a DM for Krauser. I guess the maker can't get it right bu thte learner can. Weird, huh?
Mr Big: Blaster Wave: He sticks his sticks in you, leaving you SHOCKED and horrified. Eh? Geddit?
Chizuru: Move Seal: Chizuru hits you once. It may not do much damage, but it renders you unable to do certain moves for a while. Not much a problem, but since she's an SNK boss...
Chizuru 2: Clone Dance: Suimmons a clone that dances on teh opponent.
Goenitz: Mega Maiden Masher: Think of Iori's Maiden Masher, though this time he grabs you, he wrings the blood out of you and lobs you to the ground. He can do this WITHOUT HAVING TO CHARGE UP HIS SUPER BAR. King of Cheap indeed. SDM version has him jumping before the throw, as well as tornado effects during said super
Goenitz 2: Tornado of Dewm: Grabbing you by the hair (Cos its more painful) he summons a tornado that comes form DIRECTLY BELOW the opponent. I think its safe to say that you know what'll happen here.
For a final word, here's this:
This will be the last DM vid I do, since once 97 and the rest come round, it gets ridiculous how many supers there are. The vids would rack up to more than 10 minutes and I make a policy not to do them in multiple parts, so there you go. I hope you enjoyed these (You probably didn't and yeah, can't blame you. Flamers get the big EFF YEW though)
WEll, from me, Goodbye, and Merry Christmas.
El mejor soundtrack de toda la saga kof!
israel Lara total
That Ralf Vulcan Punch desperation move was so satisfying whenever I used it
Ralf is only alpha male in KOF
memories, memories, memories... (tears of joy)
Indeed! Indeed! Indeed! 😢😊
Ever since 95 Iori yagami still is one of the best Characters with the best combos and finishers.
This is why i love video games! Because of the finishers!
One thing I still don't get: why do the SDM versions of projectile moves do so little damage, like Krauser's kaiser wave. Glad they changed that from '97 onwards.
the reason why they did less damage is because unlike the melee supers the ranged ones were pretty much safe or at least much harder to punish than regular desperation moves. Kaiser Wave was impossible to jump over with most characters (i think only choi could jump it and it was hella risky), so you had to use A+B roll in order to close the gap and punish it (Unless you were playing iori who could slide under kaiser wave with his own desperation move.
He didn't charge it, SDM Kaiser Wave can be charged longer for massive damage
Good question!
"Violent fighting to come again..."
every time i heard that, it takes me back to the sweet sweet memories of high school days...where we actually have teams of three players fighting other teams in the donut shop. man, they made a lotta money from us!
I love games like this! 😊
Thank you KOF96 for introducing Leona, Chizuru, Kasumi T, Vice, Mature and Goenitz, and a few others, to the series 😋
Are you drooling!??
@@dalethechipmunk3873 not drooling; smiling
@@crencottrell7849 Oh right! Sorry about that lol!
Lot of memories, my best KOF, best soundtracks ever.
In this KOF, the following fighters are having 2 SDM:
- Ryo Sakazaki
- Robert Garcia
- Yuri Sakazaki
- Kensou Sie (Depending for button pressed)
- Ralf Jones
- Iori Yagami (Depending of Full power/20% energy needed)
- Chizuru Kagura
- Leopold Goenitz
Indeed!
The attacks of
Goenitz is extreme
and Coool!.
Awesome!
I'd say this was my favorite of the KOF games. Boss Team equals instant win. Seriously, we need to see a canon return of this team.
i spend a lot of money by playing this game. my most faovarite 2d game ever.
Awesome game!
KoF 96 SDMs were the reason Arcade machines in Mexico started to use optic joysticks. Without them, it was nigh impossibe to do them.
That's right!
they never could do KOF like old ones..
Same!
"With your pathetic performance here ends humanity."
I never forgot this quote, when KoF 96' was released there were dozens of people surrounding it's arcade machine of my hometown, I don't think I remember seeing someone ever beating Goenitz.
Same he was hard to beat!?
Iori's stage in this game is still the best Iori stage.
Indeed!
Love how Ryo and Robert get excited about the Tornado of Dewn.
Yeah!
good memories! I grew up on this stuff
I like KOF And SF2!
MY Favorite Iori super...That man performs surgery mid match then turns to the player to bascically say "You Fucked Up"
LMAO!!!
Is something you missed, Geese Superpower may kill instanly if you do in on the proper time, for example while KING is doing that patraicho move ( front, down, front on the leg button ) while king is in the air if you do that Geese superPower will kill King instantly.
Geese is awesome!
96 was when kof became so sweet... it was awesome with the graphics and sound, the gameplay was ace. This and '98 are my favorites in the series. 96 is a massive improvement from '95, and i cant help but think '97 is somewhat of a letdown.
One thing about this one is, that it's quite manageable, but when you get to the Boss Team, Chizuru and Goenitz you start losing all the time lol
KOF 98 was my favorite!
*🌌FINISHING MOVES🌌*
Me encanta el tema de Shizuru y su super
5:08 athena reminds me of dragonball! metamorphosis into super saiyan! lol
True!
Mature can used Gigantic Pressure?
Yep!

KOF #1
Daimon's SDM = best SDM.
👍
Well yeah, but I would've thought she'd have a different DM/SDM since the rest of her moveset is different...
Yeah i know right!
Olá, gostaria de saber se é possível você fazer um video como este, só que dessa vez do KOF 97 DMs, ok??
Obrigado.
Poor Leona ....
LMAO!!!!
I mean, where else can you see a military man smash a highschool girl in the face on the ground 100 times?
I know right!
KOF > Street Fighter
Capcom vs SNK2!
impresive !! Goro Daimon's
LMAO!!!
Hello, I wonder if you can make a video like this, only this time the KOF 97 DMs, ok?
Thank you.
KOF 97 is awesome!
I don't like seeing Athena getting punched into shit by Ralf like that :( She's so cute :( Why'd you make her get hit with such a violent desperation move? Why not Goro, Clark or Ryo?
Because fuck Athena
She is cute!
damn i missed Ralf's super where he missile punches the shit out of people. now they just made those punches slower.
Yeah i know!?
And cheese, can't forget
Cheese never forget!
Ninguna intro superaba las de SNK
Amigo/a muy buen video ¿Has pensado en hacer un vídeo con los especiales paso a paso?
How do you adjust the level there?
Adjust when you pick your charaters!
What about the missing KOF '96 Desperation Moves?? Please, tell how to find a video of that in case you know. Thanks. Best KOF's for me: 3.- KOF '96, 2.- KOF '97 and 1.- KOF '95. Greetings from Mexico
I just love the moves on KOF!

La voz de andy de 96 es igual del kof xiii
Is that blue mary in red ?
Yes indeed!
You didn't show us How we do all that!
Press the select button! It works on my PS2!
I like '94. I just didn't like 95 at all, and I'm not sure why. Goenitz is WAY overpowered but his AI is pretty stupid. Just have King abuse B Double Strikes and you get a perfect. Chizuru I find is much harder than Goenitz.
Your right! Goenitz was very hard to beat!?
Koi mujhe code btaega power key
ralph is the best!
Sure is!
@MightyKombat jajaja man dont be hard with that boy jajaja
LMAO!
