In my humble opinion, the heavy/screaming at the end was necessary because of the anger of NOT being able to "get back to EDEN"....heaven, love of your life, etc.
It’s realising he doesn’t want that Eden anymore because it was also the source of all the pain and hurt. Euclid follows and thats the realisation it’s over. It’s okay to look back and remember what once was, but it’s time to move on. Time to be somebody new. And that’s okay.
I think it’s more like a hopeless desperate pray to get back there rather than just anger, and I’d interpret the decision to use scream is like a way to be heard since his previous asks/prays seemingly didn’t reach the destination 🤔
i love the line “i dont know whats got its teeth in me but im about to bite back in anger” because the first 2 choruses when he sung take me back to eden, it sounded like pleads, sung very soft and beautiful. but then at the end when he starts screaming, thats his bite back and hes now demanding to be taken back. theyre lyrics and storytelling are just top notch.
The end scream basically a rage. because he can't go back to eden. and in Vore, you can hear the scream sounds painful like begging, kinda. Vessel is musically genius. he put emotions into the scream.
The context of why the heaviest part is at the end: That's because this song meant to be the big cathartic moment of their discography until now, following the lore behind the Vessel (vocalist) and the Goddess (Sleep), that may be a representation of an ex girlfriend, or a real pagan entity (at least for him) that he worships. Either way, their relationship leans towards toxic and he asks in this song, again and again, to be taken back to the perfect beginning of things (Eden), that doubles in significance as the beginning of life for him, as he says "No amount of self-sought fury will bring back the glory of innocence" and the beginning of the relationship. He asks it in three different verses, in three different ways, until the frustration and desperation boiled up and he screams it: "I've traveled far beyond the path of reason, take me back to Eden, take me back, to Eden." That's my interpretation on things. There is an article about their discography and it's meanings and if you want i can find and link it later, anyway, my English is self taught so don't hang up on any mistake, great reaction and great music taste :)
@@tiago.suares it is incredible the way their songs can hit you differently all the time and the way everything is so intricately intertwined. I definitely agree with your comment. The anger, pain and frustration of doing beyond what was necessary to get back what you’ve lost then following up with Euclid. When I tell you this live was life altering. Vessel is just impeccable at connecting us so deeply.
@@samcrorie And Euclid is the most beautiful, uplifting and at the same time sad, piece of music written in modern times. That one hits... rather, punches you, right in the feels. As someone clever who I can't remember once said in the comments of a Sleep Token reaction, "Vessel knows how to say what most people don't know hot to say, so he says it for us."
My brother, finally. I've been on you about this one for awhile! This has got to be one of the most incredible pieces of mystical musical mastery. It's amazing. Glad you enjoy it. Cheers.
"I'm a winged insect, you're a funeral pyre" is the dopest way of saying "Like a moth to flame". Also, starting the song out with "I dream is phosphorescence" is fucking crazy. How do you even think of that shit. Vessel is on another level man.
As a fellow autistic person who grew up listening to rock/metal, I'm loving how you try to break down the lyrics and really understand the meanings in songs! Love the reactions!
Check out some of the drummer's playthroughs on TH-cam. This song he actually plays the trap parts on the kit but a lot of other songs like The Apparition he uses electronic drum pads
"I don't know what's got its teeth in me, but I'm about to bite back in anger. No amount of self-sought fury will bring back the glory of innocence." When I first heard that, I lost it. That hits so personally for me as someone who's innocence was stolen from them at a young age. I spent most of my life angry at the world and at myself before I was able to process it. But regardless of how angry I got, the anger and frustration would never bring it back or bring me back to a time before it was taken. Fuck. That shit still hits even after my 100th time hearing it.
This song is like fireworks for your ears, it's so beautiful and well delivered. When music makes you tear up, feel the sensory overload that just grabs your soul... for a moment you truly experience what makes you human
15:20 your actually right, some pieces are in the wrong place, when you hear the album, all those pieces will fall into the correct place as one whole art piece! as well as these individually great songs!
Ah, but he does say in the lyrics before the ending that he was about to bite back in anger. And that’s exactly what he did! ST seem to use genres to showcase particular emotions and I think it works really well.
" This " is the biggest rabbit hole you will jump in this year. With Sleep Token there are so many clues and hints from songs to other songs. This is a fantastic journey to take. Enjoy mate.
In the beginning of the song, you're in EDEN, followed shortly by the FALL (you should hear the ROAR). Then you're in water not knowing NOT to breathe....what a MASTERPIECE. I am a die harsh Tool fan, so I do NOT say MASTERPIECE lightly
Eventually you should check out the Drumeo interview and playthrough from their drummer, II. On the albums its just the vovalist singing and on all instruments except for II on drums. III (bass) and IV (guitar, backing hardh vocals) and three female backup singers that go by Espera join them live. III and IV are now permanent band members and so far Espera has appeared with them for every concert.
You are absolutely meant to be transported to the exact place your mind takes you! Their albums tell an amazing story that's open to interpretation, but it seems a lot of folks lean toward love found, had, and lost. If you're up to a bit of a longer reaction video, the drumeo video with II, the drummer, is absolutely amazing. Keep on my friend and enjoy!
As you listen to the lyrics it’s telling a story about being in Eden, then woken up, and trying to get back there, in the end it’s anger because you can’t get back there.
I can't get over how much this band is using Deftones' later career style. - in everything apart from the flow rap lyrics. Basically everything since diamond eyes...
Nah the ending was totally necessary, you can hear almost the acceptance of not going back but the feeling to go back is too strong so you hear the anger and frustration to go back
Think the pound of flesh reference is originally from The Merchant of Venice by Shakespeare I believe, so it gets referenced a lot. Correct me if I'm wrong, I know people will 😅 I've been obsessed with Sleep Token for months now and I'm seeing them live a week today - buzzing beyond words! Love your reactions, the Hybrid Theory one is my fave! ❤
Sleep Token really have taken the progressive metal genre to another level and it's amazing to see how huge they've become in such a short space of time. For context, I saw them live at the start of 2023 at a 2,000 cap venue then saw them at the end of 2023 at Wembley Arena which is 10,000. On their next UK tour later this month and into December I'll be seeing them play at the new Co-Op Live arena in Manchester which is 25,000...all sold out shows.
That is what to expect from progressive metal bands, It'll make you feel like listening to 3 songs in 1 and go either close to 10 minutes or above 10 minutes, TOOL is also a progressive metal band, Dream Theater, Opeth, Oceans Of Slumber, Cellar Darling, Etc.
I just discovered you as i am typing this. The fact that you had tears in your eyes is literally what i went through my first listen to this song. I was going through something very tramatic and when this song came on, it felt like the song brought out a childhood nostalgic moment then took it from me, punched me into reality then hugged and kissed me on the forehead and told me everything was going to be okay if that makes sense... ALSO!! I was invited by a person i befriended at a concert recently and she had two extra tickets to Sleep Token and i declined because i didn't think they were good.... I WILL NEVER FORGIVE MYSELF KNOWING WHAT I KNOW NOW!!!!!!
Sleep Token is on another level. Vessel hasn't unlocked some kind of magic equation for addiction to their music. It's unreal. Keep going. Do yourself a favor, start at the beginning of TNDNBTG, and do everything in order. The pay off at the end of Eden won't be the same if you don't.
Sleep Token songs are great on their own, but theyre really meant to be heard in order. from Sundowning to TMBTE. its a story that you can appreciate way more that way, and Take Me Back To Eden (the song) is the climax of the album trilogy. so the choices of instrumentation and lyrics make more sense in context of everything else
There is SO MUCH deep lore and connections within different songs. You can definitely go down a long rabbit hole on interpretations of the songs, especially from people in the science community. Enjoy!
BAHAHA JUST CAUGHT THE SUMMONING VID, KNEW THIS WOULDNT TAKE LONG TO DROP 😂🔥🍻 Alkaline, Ascenionism, Apparition, Chokehold, Granite, Aqua Regia also check out their drummer, II (2), on the Drumeo channel
0:43 I think it’s more to put you in paradise. Think of it as you’re searching for paradise (Eden). And you’re hearing the sounds you’d think would be coming from such a place. And you’re on the outside begging to be let back in. So close but unable to touch the “heaven” he once knew.
You need to do a video where you listen to Sleep Token's "The Night Does Not Belong to God" and "Euclid" back to back, it is the first song on the first album and the last song on the third album. Such a great experience!
Honestly, if you wanna treat yourself, listen to the albums; in order, with the songs, in order. Each album is mastercrafted into a journey of self reflection.

Agree 💯
Also the song was building up to it as it went. Started off soft, hot angrier, the rap bit of see me as I am, and the full on anger
He said he was going to Bite back.

RIGHT up your alley I think

Got to experience Sleep Token live last year and there are no words to describe it! Pure magic!! #Worship
My favourite album to come out in over a decade for sure. Every track is magnificent. Even lesser popular songs like Aqua Regia are just total vibes.
Aqua Regia is my favourite.
