Hououin Kyouma was created as a desperate attempt to save Mayuri from suicide after the death of her grandmother. So of course the persona starts to break as he falls into despair that he cant save mayushii, or when (in 0) he already did but feels hollow and cant go back to it because to him it caused him to kill kurisu
I just had a nap after a terrible migraine and then had a dream that Okabe Rintaro was my roommate. I woke up reminded how much I loved this character.
Great video. Okabe is such a tragic character but he's also capable of grewsome urges given the right circumstances. VN Spoiler Such as when he considered killing Daru or raping Suzuha after living in a 2 day loop for possibly thousands of cycles which he did to prevent Mayuri from dying.
this anime will forever be my fav anime, everything about it is perfect from the way the story plays out to how the characters change overtime. this anime is a masterpiece
I never tired to see so many video analyze about Steins;Gate, until this day i always find a different way to see this anime. That just show how masterful created this anime really is, perhaps one of the masterpiece that exist in this world.. No, maybe even across worldline If you to continue to analyze more detail, then please by all means. Late 2 years, yes but this is must be the choice of Steins;Gate! El.Psy.Kongroo
A few minutes back i read unaired episodes of steins;gate 0 are going to be released next year (2022) its truly the choice of steins gate , i really can't contain my joy right now
Very concise, very clean analysis. I think it's important to do as you have done here and focus in on Okabe, because whichever way you slice it this show is carried very much by his character. You bring to light a lot of apsects of his character that I was only vaguely aware of and present them in a clear and easily digestible way. So, great video. It's a shame that Steins;Gate 0 was a bit of a dissapointment, but the original Steins;Gate will always have a top 3 spot for me.
To add my own interpretation of Hououin Kyouma, I think that it's arrogance and ignorance. He chooses not to accept certain aspects of reality, yet challenges those who are greater than him. He challenges Kurisu, Sern, God/the universe and time itself. No normal person would stand up to those they know are greater than them. Okabe is oppressed by things bigger than him, he is a slave to the universe that is "predetermined." It's oppressed vs oppressor. Kyouma however is not. He's a symbol of rebellion. To not let the powers that be stop him from doing what should be done. I think that "insanity" is used very well in that aspect as well. He's insane enough to go against "predetermined" events
It was a great analysis of my favorite anime character. Can you make another video, but this time an analysis of Okabe Rintaro in Steins Gate 0, since he reaches the peak of his character there?
If you get the suzuha ending in the visual novel he never tries to reverse the D-Mails, you miss a lot of stuff thats shown in the anime, so it seems that the anime was really skillful at compositing the various possible endings in a way that made sense ? Anyway I interpret okabe as the things you said but also bored with the world as it is and trying to create something new, innovation - which necessitates deviation from the status qou, which is represented in this false persona, the mad scientist archetype.
Agreed. Okabe is in my top three. For me, I like characters who serve as decorations of thare respective archetypes. My top three goes as follows. Shirou emiya from fate, because he is a decoration of the Shonen hero archetype. Shinji Ikari. Same thing. And okabe. Because he is a decoration of a male slice of life protagonist. If thare wasn't any time traveling in steins gate then I'm pretty sure that it would have been a slice of life. Intact thares a spin off visual novel has that same concept. It's called steins gate my darlings embrace. You should check it our if you like steins gate
@@ramonaharrison7062 only check out mde if u are really craving for more steins gate, it isnt bad but by the original steins gate version it is terrible
SteinsGate was such a good anime; 2011 was a good year for psychological anime in general (Blue Exorcist, Guilty Crown, Mirai Nikki, and the buildup of Naruto Shippūden during Sasuke’s betrayal.) I think SteinsGate (even though it isn’t really an isekai) also broke down thematic doors that isekai anime would later exploit, especially when it comes to changes in mental state faced by the main characters (Re:Zero, or Shield Hero, or Mushoku Tensei, for example.) SteinsGate walked under the relative shadow of other good 2011 anime, just so these other later anime titles could run 😅
Sir. I have a serious valid question. Can you make a video what does it feel like for all his friends or what happens to them everytime okabe does the d mail. TIA.
Best protagonist ever.
He’s good for sure. I wouldn’t put him as the best

Finally someone is appreciating the thematic density of Steins Gate 😭

If he was my roommate I think I'd be broke and my fridge would not be safe
Obakes character development was insane! He's one of my favorite characters

glad to hear you enjoyed. and yeah, i’m glad they still gave a darker side to the character as well to round him out haha
In which ending did he thought of doing this ?
@@srijanrawat4014 It's the Suzuha ending.
