No problem getting the old fashioned 'bath tub' (3:13) under Ludham Bridge, a boat designed by Frank Wilds specifically for the Norfolk Broads. You'll often hear disparaging remarks about the old Caribbean class 'bath tubs', but they went everywhere on the broads, the River Shannon and the French & Dutch canals too. Like the wherries and broads sailing yachts, it was designed to do a job and did that job perfectly... As a 'nature nerd' I loved the quick shots of the swans and geese at the beginning. I hope when the boats are all 'tucked up' in the boatsheds for the winter, you may be doing a few more of your nature rambles, around the beautiful broads landscape...
@@andrewholloway231 I remember there were different size 'versions' of the 'Wilds' boats, but to me, they were all 'Caribbeans'... We hired one (the 38 foot version), in the early seventies, called 'Royal Eagle' from Easticks at Acle. The following year, she was at Herbert Woods and had been re-named 'Ray of Light' (R163). Lovely comfortable boats they were too...
I’m really missing the wildlife, you’ll notice there’s more clips with each video I make now. When those swans flew over this morning, the noise was just spectacular . As soon as the boats end I’ll be dressed in the usual 5 layers 🤫 and back walking through knee high mud and water 😂😂. Oh the glamorous winter high life is fast approaching 🙄❄️ ⛄️ . Flask , hand warmers and hot water bottle time will be here very soon. The things I do for TH-cam 😂
@Andrewholloway will be on the online register for you researching where they are now. I really do have the best subscribers. It’s great how you all chat to each other too 🥰
@@andrewholloway231 You're absolutely right, apologies for getting the wrong number. I should have looked in my old photo album first. On Craig Slawson's boats database, the old girl is listed as... 1974 renamed 1985 Ray of Light 1 Herbert Woods (Broads Haven) seen on river Though between her original name with 'Wilds' and her time with 'Herbert Woods', there's no mention of her being with Easticks... 1973 was the year we hired her, by the way. I was nineteen then and now recently retired, doesn't time fly!...
Thank you, you are very welcome. 2021 will soon be here. I’ll continue to film through winter, so you can see how it’s deserted for days on end ! I see one boat a month if I’m lucky 😱
omg , that first boat was so close to the roof , i honestly don't know how they did it , as they're 9ft gulp. would love to know what went on with the mattress & the window on those boats lol .
I also saw boats going under the bridge higher than the bridge marker said it was safe to do so. People were asking each other how high their boats were and 3 were a lot higher that the marker said. Personally I wouldn’t risk it ....
I like where they have put the barrels of water on the boat . Taking a run at the bridge also sits the boat a few inches lower but have you got the nerve .
Lovely place and good walk to the abbey ruins.
It’s a great place to watch the river activity 😀

Congratulations on 700 subs. Great video, the rivers are definitely high.
Thank you, yes they are and there’s another spring tide this weekend apparently 🤷♀️

lori thorpe I’m guessing an open window in the rain for the mattress and I’ve no idea about the smashed window. The boat yards must despair.

You are absolutely right 😍🛥
It was great watching them get all the boats through.
Obviously can’t raise the bridge so you’d think they would dredge under it so the taller boats can get under 😉
That’s what everyone would like to see happen ...
