Crazy I was looking up this exact comparison earlier today and couldn’t find any videos on it, now here we are only a few hours later and you made it happen. Thanks man, you helped me make a choice and save some money!
👊🏾
I just bought an X90L after debating this comparison for a month and I couldn't be happier. Saved a ton of $$$ compared to the B7
Great Tv
wow really? Is it better than LG C4 oled in terms of picture quality and movie experience? I am confused between the two.
@ The LG is a great TV me personally the Sony looks more realistic
@ankuratulkar8066 The C4's picture is more impressive, but definitely not as bright. That being said, the X90L 85" was about $1700 less than the C4 83", which was a big factor for me. At that huge price difference the X90L has superb picture quality.
@@lironbenjamin Agreed
From India . I have this Bravia 7 switching from 950g . Love it Almost no blooming after the update looking from centre. Bravia 7 extreme off angle view is bad it's universal truth still this Person only showing Bravia 7 from off angle. If you love watching content sitting at centre or any angle within 60° to 90° this is The best. No Black bar blooming under movies ! ❤❤❤ Go for
90L if you are ok with blooming
One of the best chilling freaking cool spontaneous TV comparison i ever saw, please keep this review format and shoutout to your polite friend
Thanks for watching! 👊🏾
I bought the X90L last year on Black Friday, it’s a great TV. Works great with my PS5. I also have a Sony Master Series oled A90J from back in the day. They are all great TVs. You can’t wrong with Sony. Even the X80K in my guest room looks great. The only thing that I would say is that I bought the X90L, 65” last year for $999, the price should be lower this year.
Great video. The X90L is a beast. Yes you can get maybe 10% better Picture Quality with the Bravia 7, but the value you get with the X90L is stunning. The X90L is the better value because at some point you are splitting hairs with the tvs.
It's more than 10% better don't kid yourself. I had the X90L traded in for the Bravia 7 once I noticed flickering and blooming in dark scenes panning in my ps5 games like resident evil. It's distracting and annoying. For anything bright sure not far off but the dark scenes don't do X90L justice in comparison
@@almir908 with a nice rear bias light setup the “darker” room performance of an x90l should be pretty close though
@@av8743 I actually don't disagree with you there
@@almir908 cool, any reason you don’t use one? Even for a b7 (any local dimming set) it will greatly improve your black levels.
@@av8743 I have mine attached to the X900H that is in my bedroom. I just got the Bravia 7 and haven't gotten around to it. It's a 75 inch but the only bias light I would probably get are the govee lights
Good comparison. I saw both the other day in Best Buy and the 7 looked better but who knows how they had them set up. Yours is a more real world comparison. I own the x90l and very happy.
Thanks for watching! I ran both of them in the "Standard" picture settings. All of the detailed settings were made the same as well.
@ I was actually referring to BB. I figured you had them set up the same.
@@MSDOGS1976in what ways did you notice b7 was better? X90l blooming in black bars, while b7 doesn’t? Or just simply it was brighter?
@ Brighter and appeared more clear. But one thing that could have contributed is that the 7 was a larger tv making it appear more dynamic. I throughly enjoy my x90l and would buy again after using it for more than a month now.
@ yes another thing as was pointed out in the video here is that the extra brightness is more of a negative as it crushes highlight details. Others have also complained on b7 for some reason skin tones always look overblown, (backlight seems to make them too bright as I read on avsforum) and it seems no settings are able to fix it. Likewise on the blacks it also has less shadow detail than a good fald like x90l, in an effort to darken them further. My feeling is that the x90l is a more balanced/refined picture.
Maybe it’s a case that to really beat a top level fald, you need the top level mini led which would be b9 to do it, otherwise it’s just compromised in different ways.
For someone who was somewhat disappointed in my 85" X90J, when Costco replaced it with my now X90L I've been extremely happy. The thing never has the distracting flaws with any content that other led and mini led has.
So x90l doesn’t bloom much? Seems like a lot are saying b7 doesn’t bloom into black bars while the x90 still does
@@av8743 where did you hear this?
@@18yearsoldnot just generally researching it on Reddit/avsforum/youtube but there’s a lot of conflicting info online. Some people are saying they are very similar and hard to tell apart for blooming, and others saying it’s a major difference. Then overall PQ I was just reading how one was saying x90l is actually better and he would pay more for it even if it was more expensive than the b7, then the next reply is someone disagreeing with that. You can see where I’m going with this.
@@18yearsoldnot just asking a bunch of people you have some saying x90l is actually better, and would pay more for it than a b7 even if it costed more, while others disagree and say the opposite. I have a feeling they are similar in overall performance including how well they control blooming.
@ I though the same. If you can get an 85 inch x90 near the price of a 75 inch b7 the price difference is less than $500 it may be justified. X90 may have slightly warmer white balance in the mid range (but that is a very quick fix). Having looked at the native contrast measurements (where local dimming is turned off), the contrast ratio of Bravia 7 is double that of x90, and therefore Bravia 7 is much closer to OLED concerning micro contrast when you ignore local dimming, so I’d be careful not to ignore that. The other thing is Bravia 7 shares the same dimming algorithms as Bravia 9, so it is excellent value!
Ok. So I picked up an 85” x90l from Costco during the Black Friday deals. At first I was kinda disappointed coming from a 65” LG C8 OLED. But then I did some picture adjustments on the custom menu. And my goodness I am so happy with the 85” x90l. Paired it with the Klipsch cinema 800 surround and it is amazing. Goodness gracious. I love my new setup.
wow really? is X90L better than an OLED tv as I am thinking of buying LG C4 oled over Sony x90L??
x90l is the best mid range tv ever
I would say the Bravia 7 is after I upgraded for no cost with warranty
@@jayshine2742thats for you only
Its considered high end in my opinion
@AOmega72 True in most regions of the world except USA and EU and Japan.
@@MM-Official I've compared the high ends to me this has the most realistic picture
Just picked up a refurb XR-75X90CL from microcenter for $699. Normally never buy extended warranties but since microcenter doesn't typically sell Sony's and the sales guy said they use a third party refurbisher, I spent the $80 for a 2 year microcenter warranty. Probably a waste of money but good peace of mind. Got it home and it is flawless and loooks brand new as hoped.
Right now at Costco, the 85 inch X90L is $1699, and I purchased the 75 inch Bravia 7 on at Costco for $1599 about a week ago. Since both tvs are almost the same price, I am thinking about swapping out my 75 inch Bravia 7 for the 85 inch X90L (my living room TV seating area is about 13 feet). The extra brightness is nice, however my living room is not extra bright. Is swapping the 75 inch Bravia 7 for the 85 inch X90L a wise decision, or should I stick with better picture quality?
I just ordered 85" sony x90l
I think size will make big difference.
I have my 85” x90l over my fireplace in a vaulted ceiling room. With a sliding glass door to the right of the tv. We do have curtains the length of the sliding glass door. And seating distance is about 11 feet. I think the tv is a perfect size. Replaced my 65” lg c8 OLED with the 85” Sony x90l. I’m very happy.
I got the X90L, had it for two weeks then upgraded to the B7. Once you really dial in the settings on the B7, it blows the X90L out of the water. Better contrast, brightness, blacks, and color. Also cleaner panel with less banding. You really do have to tweak the settings though, if you're not good at that just get the x90 L
I have had the Bravia 7 sense August Sony done and update early this month that made the tv look amazing to me but that's just me
X90l is not even mini LED and still worth it if you tryna save some money
During the last 2 weeks I went back and forth with this same decision. They both have great pictures. But the price of the X90L is almost too good to pass up (I was looking for an 85-in). However I do think of course the B7 is brighter and slightly cleaner. I ultimately did go with the B7 not because of the picture quality but because of the issues that people have had with the X90L and the screen being cracked. I Read that too many times. I have a B7 is hanging now and it's beautiful. However I would never know the difference if I had an X90L hanging in my basement.
@@mjacksonjones
I also compared both side by side in the store and the Bravia 7 is just a touch brighter, vibrant and clearer. Needless to say I went with the 7 and no regrets so far, loving it. 🤩
I chose several TVs, I wanted to know what you think and which one is better

I have the B7 75 inch.. it was delivered today. It will be replacing the 65x850E. Sony tax is worth it. The 850e is a great TV in SDR, but not good in HDR. Excited what the B7 will bring out. I may need to watch GoT all over again and see what I missed in dark scenes. Football and hockey are going to be fun on the b7.
Great choice, enjoy!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS COMPARISON!!!
👊🏾
Not a single word about the miniled backlight and much better black on B7.
X90L should be called Bravia 5. Simple.
I wholeheartedly agree!
Yes, and the Bravia 7 should have had an ADS Pro panel to make it the LED TV with better viewing angles compared to the other models. That way you cover all bases.
You have your entry-level but still amazing LED going to 98 inches, you have the mid-level with better viewing angles for those that want a bit more and more flexible viewing, and then you have the top-of-the-line with best brightness, best contrast, better reflection, and wide angle VA and also OLEDs.
@@techsamurai11 That's why I returned my 85" Bravia 9 for the Hisense 98UX, clearly the best all around TV I've ever seen, with the ADS pro panel 🙂
Great content ... and does the x90l compare to the TCL 855 in your opinion? Thanks heaps!!
Added brightness can wash out the green details, but shows details in darker movies, and great for gaming. I still like the lower light , because you can get a better sense of 3D presence.
Actually X90L is better buy in case of overall value but full support for remote play on ps5 is a game changer for me. Prices differ around the markets and in my country there is only 350 USD difference between these two.
If they are so close , one would pick 75x90l over same price 65 bravia 7 , no ?
Damn super super perfect timing of this comparison im
Buying my tv watching you man 🎉
3:46 yessir!! He got 20 million dollars to take a dive and pull his punches. No one in his right mind wouldn't take that deal. "Sure I can beat this kid up, but it's not going to pay me 20 million." lol
....and the X90L is using FALD (FULL ARRAY LOCAL DIMMING) panel technology....which IS old....I know cause I'm still using the amazing Sony x900e which is when Sony first utilized this XR chip and Triumminous Technology along with FALD panel technology.
This is why the Sony x90L is so cheap, they've been using this older technology but have improved upon this old technology throughout the years.
Most of these TH-camrs will never tell you this either.
But even though the X90L is using older updated technologies..... it still produces a great picture......
Why pay $$$$ for a B7 or B9 when the x90L gets you 90% of the picture quality you're looking for? 🤔
Be smart and don't waste your money.
If you truly want to step up in picture quality......then get an OLED TV.
That’s the way I see it, they’ve been updating and using FALD for the last 15 years. There are even people saying that between b7 and x90l they find especially colors to be better on x90l. I’d say a more refined/updated fald vs a lower level less refined mini led (new tech) can easily be providing better PQ and cheaper thanks to it using older tech. It’s really not until stepping up to a b9/OLED that (top of the line mini led) that it becomes a noticeable improvement.
Great video. I have a.Hisense u8h and I think I can compete very well with either of those TVs. I don’t think Sony blows it out of the water at all.
What Television is the hands down best without regards to price?
To me the Sony X90L looks better than the Bravia 7. I’m looking at these two TVs side-by-side at work all day. The picture quality in general everything colors, contrast, and motion is better on the X90L this becomes really evident if you put in a 4K Blu-ray. The one thing that the Bravia 7 does better is has less blooming. Other then that the X90L all day. One final thing the X90L has been out for a while, so it has been updated many times. The situation might be different in a couple of months from now on the Bravia 7 gets updated.
The Bravia 7 has higher brightness capabilities with more than double the contrast of the X90L, and beats it in colour volume also. Bravia 7 should look nearly identical to the Bravia 9 in most content according to RTINGs and Stop The FOMO, so maybe the Bravia 7 was using different settings than the X90L.
@ more brightness doesn’t always equal a better picture and like I said I’m staring at these two TVs all day, I also have hooked up a 4K Blu-ray player to them and watched multiple movies on them. The X90L is the better tv. If you haven’t done that, then your opinion really doesn’t mean nothing because you’re just going off of what the technical specs are on paper, which isn’t always truthful.
@@michaeldietz2648 yup, just a couple years back the Sony flagship was an x95j, and the x90l easily tops that so it doesn’t surprise me despite it being a FALD vs mini LED. It’s like a flagship fald vs mid range mini LED as I see it.
As for the blooming in dark room viewing, did you find the Bravia 7 to be a lot better than x90l or just barely? One person I asked said while blooming is better on the b7 it’s also at the cost of crushing more shadow details. I guess with a rear bias light setup, the x90l can resolve that well.
@ if you were in a normal sized room, I don’t think the blooming is gonna be any difference between the two, the only way you’ll see that the B7 handles booming better as if you’re really able to go off at an angle. One thing is if you’re just gonna use both of these TVs for streaming they’re pretty much identical. It’s when you pop in a Blu-ray or a 4K Blu-ray is when it really shines and you could see the X90L is the better TV. The reason why most viewers think that the Bravia7 is the better TV because they’re not really putting in the work and connecting a 4K Blu-ray player and seeing what these TVs maximum capabilities are. Full array LED with a 4K Blu-ray pretty much is gonna almost look identical to a mini LED in terms of contrast. The only thing is that the mini LED have a few more dim zones, but the higher quality bit rate is gonna improve the full array to the point where it’s hard to see the difference, Unless you’re pulling out a microscope. The way I look at it is I don’t count price even if the Bravias 7 was the cheaper TV I would still purchase the X90L. I do feel like this TV is going to need a rematch in a couple of months when the Bravia 7 gets it updates. Another thing about the Bravia seven although it’s brighter it loses details and color so the brightness in my opinion is a negative..
@@michaeldietz2648 yes good point on the brightness clipping highlights and the extra dimming zones on the darkness I heard also causes more shadow detail loss in exchange for a bit deeper blacks which is a worse trade off if you ask me.
The thing about the dimming zones though is the number is a very significant difference. It’s like 720 zones for the 65b7 vs only 80 zones on the 65x90l, albeit a totally different type of backlight technology being a fald vs mini led which makes me wonder how it’s possible that the blacks can even be comparable between the two, yet they are.
Did you ever compare for gaming? That’s an other high quality source material that should show the difference. Seems like you prefer x90l picture better because of color and detail being superior or is it just because of better detail in highlights and shadows?
I purchased Panasonic w95a I felt it sits between the 90 and b7 . I love all 3
Hey man, great vid. I really like the x90 and will probably get it, but hear the x93 had the better reflection handling. Unfortunately in Europe they the x93 doesn’t exist and basically they want you to buy the x95, which is quite a bit more expensive 😢 Any suggestions? Annoyingly they don’t sell the panny a95 bigger than 65inches too. It’s really annoying!!
Very weird that they never talk about blooming of the Sony TVs..... 🤔
It is horrendous in this video to go along with the reflections. X93L is better.
Would a 75 inch x90l be better then a higher priced sony 77 inch oled or should i save a little more and get the bravia 7 in 75 inch
The bravia 7 was blown out on the rice became of your settings i upgraded from the X90L and i can tell u the brightness control and tone mapping is much better on the bravia 7 so if its blown out on the bravia 7 then it would be blown out on the X90L unless u have some setting like gamma, contrast etc too high or your using a picture preset that have contrast enhancer on high level which shouldn't be on at all let alone at a high setting
Would the 75 inch X90L be an upgrade over a 65 inch X95J? (not just in size)
Thats what I'd like to know too. Did you ever find out ?
X85l this x95j, x90l better x85l
Was really close to buying the x90l from Costco but with LG C4 price drop I couldn’t pass on it
X90l is now like 400 euros cheaper than the bravia 7 on the 75 inches ...should i considered x90l ?
U can never get a accurate comparison of TVs in a room that bright u will need to do comparison in a dark room to really see which TV perform better in the most important ways like contrast, black levels, blooming etc
The X90L is available in 98 inches for 4 grand. The biggest problem with Sony's new TVs is unless you have a small room they're too small. People need to stop buying screens too small for their viewing distance just because they offer better brightness or contrast or whatever already. Size is king.

I'd have the brightness turned way down on either TV. So if bright is all there was I'd go 90L. Might be a better compare to look at shadow detail.
It's not about the brightest settings. It's about being able to take a dark scene and see all of It's specular highlights even with the brightness turned down. The B7 does this a bit better, and the B9 performs even better than both.
@@NewStuffTV1 Think I'll get a 65B9. My brain isn't big enough to soak in 75 in .
The 65-inch X90L is $1,000 at Best Buy and the 65 inch Bravia 7 is $1400 at Best Buy. Is it worth the $400 increase for the mini LED technology? It'll be in my movie room and we may play games on the TV.
I don't have a problem spending the $400 but if I'm not going to notice the difference I would like to save that money and spend it elsewhere.

Bravia 7 has a more modern SoC. It runs Android 12 instead of 10
Why are you comparing prices of different sizes? Compare 65 inch to 65 inch, not 65 to 75.
I'd say the B7 is closer to the X93L in all Specs for the 65inch and 55 inch
I'd say the 75 and 85inch is closer to the x95l
Only cos I had the x93l and x95l
I now have the B7 and B9 and with there Firmware update they function even better when first got
And in all content
I do think tho that the B7 and B9 in 75inch Function Very the same and Look So alike in all content
Bravia 7 better but X90L is still pretty good!
The X90L is shockingly good and the Bravia 7 is really amazing but the angles are their Achilles Heel. As Fomo showed, they drop much more than ADS Pro and even the Bravia 9 with the X-Wide Angle is affected but a bit less. The Bravia 7 should have had the X-Wide Angle like the X93L that it replaced.
The Bravia 7 with ADS Pro - sign me up.
Agree, but the orice will go up. This was strategic planning by Sony.
Subbed!
The fact that the X90L was able to trade some blows with the brighter Bravia 7 is sad, and rewarding Sony by buying this TV is a slap to the face to everyone. Sony should strive to do better instead of giving us mediocre products that are barely upgrades.
I definitely wouldn't call it a slap in the face, since overall it IS a better TV it physically looks better to the eye. The problem is that they've made a GREAT product with the X90L, and sometimes it's really hard to top yourself and "WoW" the crowd within a 1 year span of time. The same can be said about our phones with a new release every year. Personally, I think tech like TVs, phones and products alike should have a 3 year cycle.
@@NewStuffTV1 I think it should just be better in all aspects even if it is a slight upgrade but maybe I'm ignorant, and don't really know what it takes to do something like that.
@asole100 hmmm... I think unless there are some serious breakthroughs in TV technology, we're a good ways away from that. Especially with a new product coming out every year.
@@NewStuffTV1 They did the X90L dirty too, the if I recall correctly the X90J or the older one before that (forgot which) has better contrast than the X90L lol At least according to Rtings comparisons (when I first looked into it)
I compared both at the store watching the same content and the Bravia 7 is definitely better. It is a touch brighter, more vibrant and clearer and I went with it. There’s definitely a noticeable improvement. 🙏
What about blooming? I see x90l has more bloom.
Where? In this video you can’t see that as they are both in such a bright room. I wish I can see a dark room comparison of these 2 for that same reason.

Better fireworks in a dark room of course.
Both of these TV images are blown out like crazy due to the camera settings. There is absolutely no way possible to see blooming. They don't look even close to this in person. Didn't you not read the notes at the beginning of the video?

0:30, 8:12, 14:18.
In these moments.
I understand that the camera brightens the image, but I can see the difference.
Or I'm wrong?
both are very similar for blooming, and are over exposed with camera so you cannot judge it at all based on this video
Oled beats mini led all day!
*all night
That's true. OLED doesn't hide details in dark scenes as miniled does
They kept the X90L because they had so many of them left over because they didn’t sell well. That’s the same reason we got the X93L, it was all the leftover stock of the X95K from the prior year.
I only own Sony televisions, but they only put out TVs worth buying every few years.
They also have a habit of torturing their own sales by using lesser quality panels on the smaller size sets. For example the panels on the 65 and 75 were super inferior compared to the panel they used on the 85 inch. The 85 inch X95K was a spectacular TV, but all the reviewers reviewed the 65 and 75 inch X95K and they had terrible blooming and poor contrast. That’s why they had so many left over the following year. Sony’sleadership is crazy. They skimp on the components on the smaller sizes to save a few bucks but the amount of revenue they lose in sales is staggering in comparison to what they saved. The TV division leadership team needs to be fired
Do you know if the 75 inch X90L is the same as the 85 inch in that respect?
And also is it the same for the Bravia 7, 75/85"?
Lastly, would you buy the 85 inch X90L @ ($1699) vs the 75 inch Bravia 7 @ ($1799)?
Our normal viewing is in center of tv 14 feet away.
Same story with B7. I tested 65 and 85 next to each other. The colors in dark scenes in HDR were much better on 85. On the contrary, the 65 demonstrated green tinted shadow artifacts on faces just like lot of cheaper TV do. So, they definitely chosen worse quality (probably from CSOT) panel, and for the 85 version they went with AUO or better.
Price of 55 inch of bravia 7 please?
I purchased a Sony a80k oled. To dim it sucked. Way too dim. I brought back and got the.Hisense u8h it blew the Sony out of the water. Much brighter TV. The Sony was way way way too dim only like 400 nitts
Should of got a Mini LED SONY TV
X90l is a blooming monster 😅😂
Yes, so bad that hundreds of thousands love the TV and must love blooming.

X90l or Bravia7 is not better than u8n . Not even close
What about longevity?
You still have time to delete this comment. 🤣
@@NewStuffTV1Rtings are very reputable and they have the u8n above both these TVs. It really comes down to what looks good to u at the end of the day
@@joelf5565longevity? How can anyone answer that on these two?
