I got a bunch of hook ups this year on the American river and wasn’t able to land any . I had my girlfriend net a big steelhead and she let it out of the net . I’m glad to see there still some in the river . You have given me some hope .
Yea it’s a technical and pressured river. I hooked a couple closer towards the hatchery, but it’s been hard to find them in general all year even though I know numbers are high.
Was just on the North Fork 4/10 and a big steelhead snapped off my 4# test, going back out tomorrow 4/12 for some redemption, fly fishing is so much fun, got mine on an elk hair caddis with blue winged olive dropper, had one miss the elk hair and the other snap off my olive nymph. Would love to get out there with you sometime! From Sacramento but frequent trips up to emigrant gap-truckee + anywhere in between
Was out there yesterday, no luck but beautiful day. Didn't have a chance to stay for the evening bite. Might try again Sunday! How late is the season usually run in the American?

I lost my confidence last trip. lost 2 on the fly in a row. It was cold too I’ll have to go try again soon before it’s too late
