What's up fellas. That's me, my son and good friend on the launch with you at the beginning of the video. I actually remember you stringing up your rods. We also had a great day. We stay at Drifter's lodge (4 times there)
This was such a awesome video to experience I really want to go to Alaska soon to just fish those rainbows are so beautiful and the dollys look amazing also and I could literally see thousands of sockeye too bad they weren’t biting that well but such a amazing video!!!
Beautiful content, glad you were able to enjoy, boy them fish just thump it and run huh, hope to make it to Alaska one day always been my dream, hope you all had lots of fun 😎👏
That was awesome. My son just got stationed there and I plan to go for a visit and have fun too. Wow did you guys catch a bunch of fish. Looked like tons of fun, can’t wait. Thanks for a great video.
Amazing trip. The west cost of BC and the Fraser Thomson River BC interior are on my bucket list for chinook, sockeye and koho as well as the epic sturgeon.
you were definitely there in a fishy time of year. I could see a fairly steady stream of firetruck reds zipping by in the water. Looks like you and your dad had a great time with a good guide.
Best fishing channel on you tube much love from scotland we always watch fish hawk vlogs before going fishing haha . Almost 100 k and you deserve it keep grinding 👍👍🎣🎣
My home state. Would be out there fishing myself but pretty sure it’s still frozen so I’m watching videos waiting for summer. Love it when tourists and people come up here and meet them on the river last year we met an older tourist couple out in the kenai who have been here before and have family but never caught a fish and they ended up not catching one while we were out there so my little brother gave them one of his can’t wait to go back out to the kenai this summer
Glad you and your Dad got to go on this trip. Once in a life time trip. I got to go and fish the Kenai with two of my sons twice! The older son lived in Anchorage at the time. Once with a guide in the drift boat and once what Alaskans call combat fishing. 200 people 20foot apart, everyone with a big salmon on their line at once. Both an adventure but I prefer the drift boat. I would love go back and do a trip like yours. Enjoyed your video.👍👍
DUDE! ALASKA??!! LET'S GOOOOO!!!😲👍This is DEFINITELY where I'd LOVE to either live, or AT LEAST, go fishin. You are TRULY BLESSED goin here. That's AWESOME man🙂👍...and the fish? DAAAAAANG! FREAKIN BEAUTIES!! You've made some AWESOME vidz and this is DEFINITELY one of my top favs. Please keep these comin my friend. Peace ✌😎
@@FishHawk You’re welcome. It’s refreshing to not have someone clickbait us to death and have quality content even better editing. Been a long time fan!
I love seeing fish hawk fishing and hoping that he is safe there in Alaska and it's nice to see fish hawk catch a fish again I have nothing to say but thumbs up❤️❤️🎣🐠🎣❤️
Those fish would look a lot better on a bagel with cream cheese!!! 🥯 I didn't think the salmon were supposed to be released once caught up there for some reason

What the heck, fish are every strike in Alaska!! Here in Fresno California you can’t catch rainbows and browns every cast like that! What a good job hooking your pops up. Good video, + fly fishing 👍🏻
Dang crazy to think people travel up here to fish. I've lived here my whole life 30+ years and haven't been fishing in over 10 years. Definitely going a few times starting next week before the seasons up
Used to fish silver salmon and dollies' when lived on Adak Island Aleutians back in 1975, 1976, and 1977... freezer full of fish in those days...made homemade bread, made my own butter... beautiful memories. Had a tug of war with bald eagle once. It swooped down and snagged my silver salmon I had caught... it took off flying away until my line broke.. took my fish and lure.. sheesh
All the packages are fully customizable. You can email them and tell them exactly what you want to do or you can call Steve directly and talk to him. I’d call Steve. Make sure to mention “Fish Hawk” if you book. You might get a discount 👍🏻
Out of curiosity why is this kind of fishing done with a fly rod ? is it because you're able to cast a lighter weight rig whilst still being able to use a rod with some backbone being that the only other rod able to cast a rig that light would be some kind of UL setup which probably wouldn't have the power to deal with the target fish. am I right here ?
I believe it's because you can make more casts. With a spinning reel you would have to constantly open and close the bail to cast. With a fly rod, you just pull back and cast it right back in the water. I call it "flipping" because you're just constantly flipping the beads out in the current, letting it drift for a few seconds then pulling it back out, making another cast. Hope that helps. Hard to explain stuff through text sometimes.
@@FishHawk no that makes perfect sense ! Thanks for the reply I hadn't thought of it like that in fast moving water you'd constantly have to be re-casting with the current I guess ! Appreciate it
Check out the 2nd Alaska video! th-cam.com/video/mL6OGBepXUs/w-d-xo.html
It was great having you and your Dad up here in Alaska. Glad we could get you guys on some fish. You are both welcome back up any time!

Thanks for showing us this little slice of heaven.
Wow beautiful area. Crazy looking fish too. Looks like a blast and I love an area that's just jaw dropping like this one.
As someone who didn't like fish roe, I have to say that fresh trout and salmon roe seasoned with soy sauce (sake optional) is delicious!
We just did the same trip in July. Stayed in Soldotna. One of the most beautiful places on earth. Alaska lived up to the hype.
That's awesome! Soldotna is a good area for fishing
What an amazing adventure! Loved the video

Still waiting. I was told early September. Then yesterday I was told another 1-2 months because of some delays 🤦🏻♂️😒
At the top of my Bucket List,Go to Alaska to fish.

WOW
Nice
can u catch these on corn and powerbait?????
Were you using floating or sinking fly line?
Awesome video! What were the dates of your trip?
Is this Kenai or Kasilof? I thought Kenai they only allow motored charts
What works best for the Kenai rainbows?
Beads is what we used. We used 6mm and 8mm beads. Peach colored beads worked best for us.
Which package did you pick for the salmon and trout fishing?
All the packages are fully customizable. You can email them and tell them exactly what you want to do or you can call Steve directly and talk to him. I’d call Steve. Make sure to mention “Fish Hawk” if you book. You might get a discount 👍🏻
Here is his number 907-953-6688
So close to 100k
What was the rod you were using and length. Tks. Great video.
9’ 8WT fly rods. Ugly stik and Pflueger.
Incredible! What fly line were you using?
Not sure. I know it was floating fly line with 10-12 lb fluorocarbon leader attached to it.
Hi. Cool fishing.
Why didn't you try spinning ? or does not bite on wobblers
Fly rods are more efficient for flipping bead rigs
What month is this? I'm heading up next week for coho and trout. Hopefully a few sockeye around too
Is there a part 2?
What time of year was this?

Nice video, what time of year was this? Looking to hit the Russian river in august hoping to get some nice red body/green head sockeyes.
It was around Sept 1st 2021
What is that orange real called and what is the blue line called
My brother is in this video! Stephen or Steve. :D
Steve is the man!
Can you eat the red salmon? Does it taste the same
Once they turn red they aren’t edible. They’re starting to die and the meat is not good.
