good vid, when i was poor and didnt own half the tools i needed I slacked off the chain and unhooked it from the rear sprocket and then took the front off with the front sprocket still attached, these days I just use a dremel to grind through the side of the links and use a clippy master link.
Great post with great info👍 I really like the torque those SV's have, lots of fun in a small packet. I clean and lube the chain and sprockets with Motul products every time they get dirty on my 900 FireBlade and their now 14 months old, done over 8000 fast miles, 3 track days and still look and feel like new. Muck off also make a good chain cleaner. Yep I use the same chain. Thanx for posting.
I never skimped on chains I always used the did x ring gold chains with gold talon sprocket when I had chain bikes. Cheap chains can’t cope with big torque heavy bikes like the Bbird and busa I had. Last time I bought this combo was about £140 iirc. Now I have shaft drive and don’t miss messy chains!😆
JT chain and sprockets if I can get em, I've started putting the chain lube on with a sponge, much less messy, the most important lube is already inside an o ring chain...
Great quality chain. I've had shaft drives for years though. 😬 I dont miss messing bout with chain maintenance and those damn primary drive sprocket nuts seized onto the output shaft. P.s. Always use that supplied grease on the chain pins as well as the O rings/X rings. That's the only time the pins will get greased.
I know you greased the x rings but im surprised you didn't grease the pins on the link tho I imagine you wouldn't get much grease in them and if you over tightened the link when your spreading it out how would you remedy that? Great video by the way
Go easy with pressing the plate on and it stop before it gets too tight. You can prise the plate apart if you do go too tight but it’s not something you want to do.
Steve, greetings. This Is the work of a profesional. Congratulations.

I’m not a fan of the clip style links. Especially on large CC bikes.

I put my back out getting my last front sprocket off with a breaker bar.. definitely the way to go with the gun !
Hey steve where you get your chain tools from mate? Another Great video mate, keep them coming.
Just a thought, will the chain not tighten more with weight on the bike when off the paddock stand?

When you slide on the x- rings the pins get greased 👍

What is your favorite bike to work on? Also what bike you dont like to work on.
Don’t really have a favourite as such. I like riding them more than repairing them 🏍️😎
