Steve's girl getting sawn in half is one of the most horrific things I've seen in a movie. The fact that its a zombie apocalypse and she goes out like that is extra tragic.
There are some underrated character arcs in this film. There's CJ's turnaround. We also found out that our leader, Michael, was a salesperson at Best Buy. There's also Ana's transformation from every day nurse living in the suburbs to being one of the toughest survivors of them all.
People like to give CJ a hard time, but in my opinion. He was one of the smartest in the group. During a zombie outbreak, one of the worst things you could do is to let more people in your safe zone. Not only do you take the chance of letting in an infected, but there's also the real possibility of letting in those that will try and take what you have.
Exactly! the audience likes to critique CJ, but fail to realize the reason we were so against him initially. which is because we the viewers get to know the main group for a few minutes before the mall. CJ himself does not. so naturally, CJ and his guys are standoffish, this in turn makes them the bad guys without the audience even trying to relate or imagine themselves in this scenario. it's an extreme survival situation in which no one has ever experienced, so trusting strangers is a HUGE risk. in my eyes, CJ was the most rational survivor, even though he was kind of an ass about it. lol
Agree like he was right this group brought in 2 people who is bit, brought in a jerk that would leave them behind and brought in people that don't make smart decisions and potentially get others killed and accidentally killed others
The Tucker and CJ team -up was teamwork gold!!! "I'll drag you. You cover me, here's my gun dual-wield." "I'm hosed. Here, take the guns and mercy kill me." "I got you."
Agreed this movie is one of the best zombie movies for sure feels like the game left for dead or something I love it but dam there some extreme dark scenes I just think it would have been better without lol
The version of "Down with the Sickness" is by Richard Cheese and his band Lounge Against the Machine. They have some pretty interesting versions of many popular songs.
Trivia Time: When Ana (Sarah Polley) was sewing the cut on Kenneth's (Ving Rhames) arm, Sarah accidentally punctured through the skin prosthetic and actually put a few stiches into Ving's arm. Ever the professional, Rhames didn't react or say anything until the director called "Cut".
This is a GREAT zombie movie. Having said that, Andy is literally rocking a gun store... he could have depopulated that entire parking lot. Bang. Next. Bang. Next. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. "Hey guys! Crazy day, am I right?"
Hell yeah!! Was not expecting you to react to this!!! This is one of my favorite zombie movies and scared the shit out of me the first time i watched it cause i wasnt expecting fast zombies 😂

i'm pretty sure all of Romero's zombie films happen in the same universe on a timeline. This is just a remake of one of those. It's slick and i like it slightly better than the original, but the original series is great. Day of the Dead would be the next thing that happens chronologically.
Leo always gets those minute details, that for other reacting on youtube, happen to fly over their heads.. Nope reaction being other fine example. Also fun as all hell!
World war z and 28 days later have zombies like this..... Shaun of the dead is like a "parody" for dawn of the dead .... Even will smiths I am ledgend had zombies fast In there too
16:00 as far as I'm aware, they turn based on how badly they are injured. her boyfriend had his artery ripped out and it seems like the people that turn slowest have the lesser wounds. in some zombie movies they even go as far as everyone is already infected and even if you die of natural causes or suicide, you still turn. I forget the show but there was someone hanging from a rope turned into a zombie.
A lot of people think that zombies are the same as vampires or werewolves, where you get bitten and turn into one. But zombies are dead people that have come back to life, so whether it's a bite that kills you, or whether you're already dead for another reason, then you'll come back as a zombie. The people that are injured more severely will die quicker and therefore come back quicker
I always found it a little odd how calmly the grown man accepts a 10-year-old neighbor girl in her nightgown walking down his hallway at 0600 AM. I mean, is this common?
When this came out I remember watching it with a friend and she had said that a Mall was the best place to go in a Zombie outbreak. That was until I reminded her of the possibly hundreds of potential entrances. LOL Then she was like "Why you gotta ruin everything?!" I mean in terms of getting supplies it IS a great place; but to stay and hold out???? That CAN get difficult. Especially if it's a mall like this with multiple levels and many entrances. You gotta really make sure ALL the entrances are well blocked. Also depending on the type of Zombies you might need to cover up all the windows so they don't SEE you. But most zombies are sound sensitive so that's a plus.
Cool. Not JUST Dawn of the Dead but the Directors cut instead of the theatrical release. Lot's more content and character development. Good stuff. Great movie.
The priest on the TV is Ken Foree from the original Dawn of the Dead. Interesting trivia, the electronics store that Shaun works for in Shaun of the Dead was called Foree Electrical.
I haven't been over the entirety of Lake Michigan, but I have never seen a tropical looking island anywhere out there before. 😂 I do like that they have a truck from the same company (B&P Trucking) as in the original movie, and that company does have trucks that run in and from Milwaukee.
There's old-school shamblers, and new-school runners. I've always found different zombie lore interesting as I have been 'dead' three times in my life - somebody shouts "CLEAR!" - ZAP - and I'm still here typing this, lol
I haven't seen this movie in so long oddly enough the one thing I couldn't shake re watching this was the guy "in charge" at the mall reminded me of Ben stiller in happy Gilmore lol
My Friend! I’ve been with you since month three of year one, when you were reacting to music sitting in front of a tv. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time. Please please please jump into the George Romero Dead Trilogy. I know you’re doing this because of Snyder, but I think you’d Love the Original three. Dawn of the Dead will always be 1978 for me with Midwest Weather, like in OH, where I’m from, and that 1978 Mall. The original is almost more of a Photo Album to me than a movie that scared me Shitless!
One of the dumbest decisions ever made in a horror movie was their decision to leave the mall. It was secure, had food n water in abundance, power, medical supplies n all the comforts of home. They were dead the minute they left the mall
