Hi Kay! Romin here. It was nice meeting you at Coffield airport. I’m the student pilot who probably confused you😅 Need to work on my radio skills. We say Rockdale airport there (as my instructor taught me) and we were doing a 360 checking the runway and wind condition but plan was always to land on runway 35. I’ll definitely share this video to my wife to encourage her to enter the world of aviation. Thanks for the video.
Hi Romin! It was great meeting you too! No worries, every flight is a learning experience for us all😊 Please tell her I say hello and YES, get her into aviation! Fly safe and I’ll see you back in the sky soon!

I actually watch Pilot Debrief and saw him talk about you. He said nothing but good things about how you always do your checklists and talk to us as though we were there with you!
I've flown a Cherokee 180D for over 30 years and it has always met mission requirements. Your obvious enthusiasm and comfort with the airplane will bring any viewer back and your attention to detail and commentary is marvelous. I'll be back.
Dana Here. Thanks Kay for another outstanding video. Hoover did a great review of your flight and had nothing but praise for the way you handled the situation. I truly love all your videos, your smiley face brings a warm feeling to my heart. Your professionalism during all your flights and explaining all the aspects of the flight are far about any other video I have seen. Thanks for making my day a delight. 😁
I watched that debrief the other day and I rmember telling you that same thing he mentioned in his debrief about how you cover the things you are doing. That is why I would love to be taught by you. You are so detailed and kinda by the book person when it comes to flying and you not just scanning thngs and being quiet about it, but telling everyone just what you are doing at the same time. I just love that about how you fly!!!
Aww, that was too bad about lunch! Seriously -but, I found this flight of yours oddly relaxing today. I guess I was in the right frame of mind to "go flying." Thank you!
So sorry you flew all that way and the the one place to eat closed. But at least we got to see you fly and handle another plane in the pattern that was confused on what they were doing. Great job as always! Thanks!😊
I am a subscriber of Pilot Debrief also and did enjoy the referenced video. He has qualities I like such as all business with aviation, but with a good personality just like you have. I am a non-pilot residing in Mechanicsville, Va. at 79-years-of-age.
The Pilot Debrief video is what steered me to your channel. I've watched quite a few of yours now but I don't see much discussion of your contingency plans if for example you can't find the target airport or there is some in flight emergency. As a fan of both channels I would be interested in those details. Great job!
As a ultralight pilot, vfr only who has always been terrified of comms. I just want to say you teach so well! That after binging your vids this week i now can understand most of the calls. Amazing, never thought that was possible. Thank you love your channel. Glad your living your best, the aviation community lost their chance at the most amazing cfii i have ever run across.🎉🎉🎉
My wife and I really enjoy your videos. I read your book and enjoyed it. I’ve had my channel for 8 years and haven’t done much with it. To be fair to myself, I have been busy being a full time flight instructor with my own one-man one-airplane flight school. I was an airline pilot very briefly (less than a year) back in 2018. But I missed instructing in my own plane and working for myself and my students. I also missed having enough money to eat and pay bills. (Regionals didn’t pay much in 2018.) and I missed my wife and kids. What you’re doing with your channel is similar to what I want to do with mine except I would probably mostly do it VFR. It’s been so long since I flew just for the fun of it I think ive forgotten how. ( to fly for fun). I enjoy watching your videos because you go where you want, when and if you want to go. I want to do that too.
I saw the Hoover video, and it was refreshing to see one of his videos that was not from a death. Love your content and that you talk everything through with us. I need to do that on my flights, but I am not that talkative.
I love your attitude, being seriously diligence over the pleasure of flying to avoid life or death situations. All pilots can take a page from your book
I agree with you…take off and landing is fun…my passengers typically get quiet during long cruze then when we are coming in they start talking while I’m trying to concentrate during this critical phase of flight. Thanks for your videos!
I think the ATC was enjoying talking with you, i thought he was not going to quit communicating. lol :) The other plane > WHO KNOWS what they were up to. I like the way you think, about narrow runway and shorter, it would make you think your coming in high, i drive a car pretty good, airplane o heck no! Love the videos Kay . ❤💯🙏
Hi Kay, Dean from Vancouver Island here or CYYJ. Loved the last few videos you made because you left the camera rolling for some of the, as you call it, dead time in between radio and other stuff. It is good to know on a crosscountry trip that there is some down time! Love the idea of the $100 cheese burger!! Sure hope you will come to my great island in the tropical Pacific Ocean for a tour sometime. Dean
Good catch on the take off clearance. I saw Hoover's video, that's how I found your Chanell. One of my favorite singles is the turbo 210. Very helpful controller. Very nice video.
I am amazed with your detail structured procedural approach to all flight tasks for both VFR and IFR while at the same time explaining your tasks and actions at each stage of your flights all awhile with a beautiful smile and bubbly attitude. Very impressive.

Finding your channel from Hoover's video, I must say I am very much impressed by your professionality and especially all the explaining down to every detail an devery decision you make. Currently, I am a student pilot from Norway working on my PPL, and my school plane is a PA-28 Cherokee. So it's really easy to follow every buytton you switch and every button you turn. Happy to find your channel, I guess I'll stay here for a long time. Awesome!
Hey Kay! I have always wanted to take lessons and learn for a PL! For some of us just learning could you do a tour video of your airplane and show us and explain it. Would be an amazing video! What size engine is your Lil red Piper Cherokee? They seem like amazing planes to learn on and own.
I’ll post the same comment on your channel that I did on Hoover’s channel. From watching your videos you appear to be a very professional and safe pilot. You definitely know what you are doing and appear to err on the side of caution when making decisions. I always wanted to fly. If I lived in your area and wanted to learn to fly I would definitely seek you out as an instructor. ❤
love your expertise and dedication on being a safe pilot. I was wondering how the outside cameras are held in place with the wind and all. Would like to see you do your outside preflight check and explain the steps you do and why they are so important. I have watched all your videos and have not seen you do the outside walk around. Hope to see it soon.
Like your video. Your readbacks to ATC are lovely to listen to and having visited two traffic control towers before learning to fly, I know they appreciate you. Your checklist work is great, makes the process fun, which I like since my career as a systems implementation lead and also change management lead required checklists and the skill made flying much easier. Good production values on your video too--it moves along well and was so pleasant to watch.
Watched Pilot Debrief, was a very positive report for you as we knew it would be. You are a great role model for all pilots. For someone that never flies really enjoy your videos.
Kay, I love your pod cast. I was fortunate enough to go to a military school that had a Civil Air Patrol program and we actually got to fly a plane with an instructor….super cool. I lost most of my peripheral vision and love watching people do fun things. I’m in the process of looking into getting to know a pilot group in Richmond Va since I live near the airport and am a member of the National Federation of the Blind. Safe travels.
Happens all the time.... I had one years ago over July 4th weekend, weather was forcast to be great all weekend long so everybody with an airplane flew someplace for the weekend. The weekend was now over, called for WX and it turns out there was smoke coming from Canada and visibilities in the NE were about 3 miles, so I filed IFR but there were a lot of VFR pilots that had no business being out flying that day. Coming into my home airport I was being vectored for the approach and ATC calls out "Arrow 1234, traffic 10 o'clock same altitude" I responded negative contact, ATC called the traffic out one more time, again negative contact, next ATC goes "Arrow 1234 turn right NOW.... heading xxx" I never saw the other aircraft and ATC simply vectored me around for the approach again. This was before the days of ADS-B so I didn't have the luxury of looking at a tablet or other equipment to find him.
Kay - I want to thank you, I started watching your channel in December and got the bug to get re-qualified after 40 years. So much fun watch you and your adventures plus recalling all the $100 hamburgers I used to do with friends and family. Maybe you can make it up to KFLY sometime then west to enjoy some real mountains! 🛩⛰
So glad you saw the Pilot Debrief video of you. He had so many good things to say about you, and well justified. Like I said in the comments on the video, you, Stevie T, and Steveo are my 3 favorite TH-cam pilots because of how meticulous you all fly.
Hi Baby Girl❤ If we can recruit young pilots like you, with your love of flying, and a stickler to procedures, into the airlines, we're going to have a bright aviation future. I pray more GA pilots would watch you, and realize flying is a serious hobby, not just kick the tires and light the fire. Luv your vids Kay
I have no aviation experience, your videos are very informative and interesting. Lil Red was made the same year I graduated from high school! Amazing little machine!
Kay, first off I love and enjoy every video you make, it's the details and thoroughness you exhibit in every preflight and inflight trips. You are the example to live by. You, Josh Aviation 101, and Valerie skyline baron pilot live by the rules and importance of never getting complacence and having a backup plane if anything unexpected occurs. If others would follow your examples would certainly prevent many accidents resulting in a fatal. Keep up doing great work while soaring with the eagles.🛩🛩🛩🛩
I've flown around the world a couple of times and such with no worries at all. But now watching this channel and that pilot debrief channel is scaring me to death...
Yes ma'am, as a flight simmer and a fan of you real pilots 🙂 I agree that the cruise portion can be a little dull, you always look forward to take off, climb, descent and landing for sure. You are PRO and all real pilots training in the beginning should follow your example! Thanks for the great videos!
Hi Kay. What a super video. My first with you and really interesting and felt I was flying with you in the plane. I am from the UK and will check more videos of yours. You described in detail what you were doing and why and that really did make it an experiance to watch and listen. Great viseo done by a great looking girl. Well done and thanks.
I have flown many fixed wing AC and many years in gliding, i'm impressed by the level of every possible eventuality you cover, decision making and thinking outside of the box is key when it comes to the safety of flight.
Great video as always Kay. I can tell you are the kind of person that is a pleaser. As for people asking what you do once you land. I for one say. Does not matter. Your private life is just that. And I wish Allie was on this flight. Her facial expressions would be so awesome to see on the bumps. Beside, it was awesome seeing you two react to each other. Both of you are gorgeous and funny as can be.
I think it's pretty cool to fine another local pilot on TH-cam! I'm over in the Ellington/LaPorte area. I've been away from flying for a few years, but I'm starting to get back into it. I'm a member of CAP at Ellington and I'm going to be working on my pilot quals there. If you're ever going up for a joyride and need some ballast for the right seat I may know a guy 😅
What another great flight, I have always been a big fan of flying. The biggest challenge I believe I would have is radio traffic and keeping up with that, you make it look so easy. Thank you again for sharing.
Again Kay as always your teachings and fly n talk is so so helpful to understand the operation of flying a plane , and your mind set of safety is so paramount ,I hope other pilots new or experience take in your knowledge. Also would you be willing to do a fly n talk about plane ownership and the cost of operating a plane. Cheers and fly on
I saw Kay on Pilot Debrief , she was shown as great sample of what/how to be a good pilot, thats why i ended subscribing with FlywithKay … Nice Kay! Take care always and Godbless 👏🕺🙂💓
Very outstanding landing of you Kay to this uncontrolled airport by your great plane. You can do your flying so well Kay despite any kind of weather or air condition. You are a strong woman
Always interesting & entertaining to be onboard with you. You maintain great commentary on your flight. Being a Round Rock, TX resident for over 5 years, the name Rockdale is familiar. Sorry they screwed up your lunch plans. Currently we live in Ashburn, VA, 2 Metro stops from Dulles. That Southern Airways single engine prop that emergency landed on the highway a couple of months ago miraculously did so just 1.5 miles from where we live. You can see the chatter marks from his propeller on the guardrail where he came to a stop. Good luck on choosing your next plane. Love to see you in a King Air! Safe flying!
thanks for throwing up your readback material for IFR, A&P mechanic and PP looking to get back into GA and get that IFR cert. Love that you talk as if you're teaching during your flight and videos.
Thanks Kay! Keep it up, you are crushing it. I really enjoy the journey thanks for sharing as always! This is all I want to do fly around to different airports and just share the fun with others.
You are a delightful young lady. Excellent communications, phraseology and procedures. Seem to be very comfortable with your aircraft and avionics . In VFR conditions you need to quit talking to the camera and instead scan for traffic. I found it alarming how much time you spent with your head in the cockpit. Nothing will spoil your day, and at least one other pilot's, faster than a mid-air collision. I was a DPE for 25 years. It was well known in the area if you were going to take your checkride with me, you had better spend the overwhelming amount of time available looking out of the aircraft using good scanning technique. This old man found your video thoroughly delightful! The enjoyment you get from aviation is very apparent. It gives me the warm fuzzies when I see the up and coming crop of young pilots. I wish you well. Please be careful. Especially around non-towered airports.
Kay, Always enjoy your videos and the level of professionalism you display every single flight. I often recommend your site (and book) to young folks, both for flying and lessons on life. Curious as to the mount you are using to hold your iPad. I have several and have not been happy with any of them. Thanks and enjoy the flight. Stephan
I love watching you fly. You are always professional and observant. It is always a delight to see you and little red. ❤️ be safe and maybe one day we will meet and have lunch
Awesome Chanel. Thank you for sharing. I am actually thinking about flying with you. I am 69 and never flown in a small plane. I want to check it off my bucket list. Can't think of anyone else to fly with. I love that you are on top of everything. Thank you for sharing. God bless 🙏
Brilliant video Kay, feels like you have new cameras. Picture quality and audio was awesome! Thanks for taking the time to share your flying adventures. Thoroughly enjoyable 😀
Even though things got a little spicy at the end, it looked like you were having fun doing some actual seat-of-the-pants flying, instead of just entering headings into the auto-pilot for a straight-in approach.
Just started watching your videos. I'm in the UK and I wish I had the opportunity to learn to fly, but too old now. Really like listening to your voice and what you need to do while flying. Keep it going.
Totally enjoy your flights It’s like actually flying with you as you clearly describe everything your doing You are a very professional young lady Keep up the great videos
I enjoy watching the landscape in between takeoff and landing but the takeoff still has that initial excitement of leaving the ground and is my favorite.
I love watching your videos. You look as comfortable behind the controls of that aircraft as most people do behind the controls of a car, just like you would look driving down a bumpy gravel road in a big truck.
Great flight! As Hoover said in his video you did it very good again. Super air(wo)manship. And what I also noticed is that on the unicom frequency 122.9 you did not just call your tailnumber and position, but immediately you tried to get in contact with other traffic, and that worked all fine, just as Dan Gryder said on his "probable cause" channel! So you had it all planned so good, except for that Subway...
I enjoyed your video a lot. I have a lot of time in Cherokee and am in flying club that has three of them at Bergstrom. I have two quibbles with what would it otherwise have really nice and fun flight. I couldn’t help but notice that you taxi with the mixture full. We prohibit that in our flying club, because it almost guarantees fouled, spark plugs. We recommend the Mike Bush taxi technique of pulling that mixture all the way back until the engine is about to die and then richening ever so slightly. This guarantees that you won’t takeoff with a lien mixture because pushing the throttle board in this configuration, just kills the engine. I know a lot of flight schools want their students to taxi around full Rich because they’re afraid of leaning the engines and then having the student forget to richen it back up at the appropriate time. But spark plugs aren’t cheap, and it would suck to have fouled plugs at a little airport like Rockdale. I will compliment you on your fuel tank switch technique. You’re doing it exactly right and setting a good example, the key thing to watch in a tank switch is the fuel pressure which you explicitly did. The second quibble is about technique. When we say “technique” in Aviation, we mean optional things that are just suggested practices. So you’re not doing it wrong, but to my ear you are using more words than necessary. I’ll give you two examples of things that don’t quite ring true to me. When you change frequencies between ATC units There is no need for filler words like ”with you”, “checking in”, or ‘aaaaaaaa”. My suggestion is “Center, Warrior 8165C, 5000 feet”. I’ll say“Hello Center….” If they are not real busy. In a VFR pattern at an uncontrolled airport nobody cares about your full call sign . I just say “Hooterville, Warrior 65C left downwind 18 Hooterville. I am of the school that says brevity is the soul of wit. Let me emphasize that these are quibbles. Your flight was handled superbly, and was very enjoyable to watch. Keep up the good work keep the dirty side down.
Another great video. It is amazing how good the stabilization is on the camera and the viewers can't tell how much we are getting tossed around at times. Keep these great videos coming.
I have been a pilot since around '98 but am not current, I was in training for IFR but didn't finish. You are encouraging me to start again, my wife is thinking there goes the money but I think it'd be fun. I think I am going to start the book work and ground school for IFR and see where that goes. BTW - At the airport I would have thought there would be a courtesy car? I have been told but never used one. Thanks for the encouragement!

Your professionalism during all your flights and explaining all the aspects of the flight are far about any other video I have seen. Thanks for making my day a delight. 😁
Thank you so much for the kind words Dana! I’m glad you like the videos!!!
18:31 Notice how clean that Kay keeps Lil’ Red?! True professional! 🎉
Kay, you're looking absolutely beautiful this morning!😊 I'm just paying the young lady a compliment, I am 76 years old and enjoy her videos.
#welovesimps
and here we go... 🙄
almost 71 here! Great gal!!
* 87 long years, superb pilot. and a delight to follow, well done Kay
Me too! I love flying with Kay! Especially when it's a little bumpy? (-:
Kay, I like your consistent professionalism and your narration as you take us along on your flights.
Thanks for welcoming me on board , that was an awesome flight, Cheers Kay.
Aww, that was too bad about lunch! Seriously -but, I found this flight of yours oddly relaxing today. I guess I was in the right frame of mind to "go flying." Thank you!
“Oh yeah, we’re going to bump around real good today!”…………😂
I like bumps - got to know i’m alive.
So sorry you flew all that way and the the one place to eat closed. But at least we got to see you fly and handle another plane in the pattern that was confused on what they were doing. Great job as always! Thanks!😊
The wing view is so cool, really illustrates how bumpy it was! Very cool flight
I am a subscriber of Pilot Debrief also and did enjoy the referenced video. He has qualities I like such as all business with aviation, but with a good personality just like you have. I am a non-pilot residing in Mechanicsville, Va. at 79-years-of-age.
Thank you so much!
Great job Cathy, and beautiful and infirmative explanations.
And yes, thebtake off and landing are the most exciting 😉👍🚀
I love your attitude, being seriously diligence over the pleasure of flying to avoid life or death situations. All pilots can take a page from your book
I agree with you…take off and landing is fun…my passengers typically get quiet during long cruze then when we are coming in they start talking while I’m trying to concentrate during this critical phase of flight. Thanks for your videos!
You're such an inspiration, Kay, to all those learning to fly, and especially to the women doing so.
Flew all that way, a long walk to a closed sub shop and you were only on ground only 1 hr and 12 min. Love you channel!
Awesome to see you on top of flying the plane, explaining things and still saw the bird and acknowledged it until it wasn't a danger.
I think the ATC was enjoying talking with you, i thought he was not going to quit communicating. lol :)
The other plane > WHO KNOWS what they were up to.
Dean
My favorite video so far. (The crickets were a nice production touch as well😉). Thanks for bringing us along and keep up the great work Kay.
Good catch on the take off clearance. I saw Hoover's video, that's how I found your Chanell. One of my favorite singles is the turbo 210. Very helpful controller. Very nice video.
Thanks!
With every video I watch I enjoy "flying along" with you more and more. This was especially interesting. Thank you, Kay!
Love your professionalism.
I already subscribed to getaways. Thanks!
WOW!! that was a Busy flight. Kay, you handle your flight with such ease.
As an amateur pilot and flight sim enthusiast, you handled the landing amazingly!
Very professional and it does not hurt that the pilot is easy on the eyes.
Also - It's amazing how great you look in solid colors! Your purple top was the BEST!!
Your radio calls are so textbook and consistent. Awesome!
Hey thank you so much!
Hi Baby Girl❤
If we can recruit young pilots like you, with your love of flying, and a stickler to procedures, into the airlines, we're going to have a bright aviation future.
These videos are always a pleasure to watch and learn from. Thanks, Cousin Kay!
Yes ma'am, as a flight simmer and a fan of you real pilots 🙂 I agree that the cruise portion can be a little dull, you always look forward to take off, climb, descent and landing for sure. You are PRO and all real pilots training in the beginning should follow your example! Thanks for the great videos!
i like the subtitles for radio communication
You are so cool, calm, and collected. I would feel so comfortable flying with you.
Very Helpful for me learning to fly! Very smooth with the communications and details for beginners! Thanks you!
Hoover’s a great judge of character!
You handled the emergency really professional. I watched Debrief and he is also worth subscribing to.
What another great flight, I have always been a big fan of flying. The biggest challenge I believe I would have is radio traffic and keeping up with that, you make it look so easy. Thank you again for sharing.
It’s just good to watch things done correctly. Thanks.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Love your positive attitude and enthusiasm Kay. You always make me smile!
Always fun to watch your bubbly personality. Flying is just as fun as you portray. Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks Leslie!
Pilot Debrief said some very good things about how you flew during the inflight emergency, where you had to return to land.
God bless 🙏
Hi Kay, you just ooze with positivity. Thank you for your videos. They are fun.
Your professionalism is amazing. Great video.
Totally enjoy your flights
It’s like actually flying with you as you clearly describe everything your doing
You are a very professional young lady
Keep up the great videos
You could pull out an MRE from your survival kit. Or, pack a protein shake. Love flying with Kay. You make the trip interesting.
Hopped over from Pilot Debrief and subscribed. Keep up the good work!
I know right? Kind of a wild comparison when I turn it off huh? And will do, glad you’re enjoying them!!
A very competent pilot indeed😊
I have been a pilot since around '98 but am not current, I was in training for IFR but didn't finish. You are encouraging me to start again, my wife is thinking there goes the money but I think it'd be fun. I think I am going to start the book work and ground school for IFR and see where that goes. BTW - At the airport I would have thought there would be a courtesy car? I have been told but never used one. Thanks for the encouragement!
