Due to starkillers naturally light side lineage it's not a strange reaction. Both his parents were Jedi and he was going to be trained by his parents until game 1 happens, then when he speaks to his fathers force ghost he learns his past and returns to the light. He wasn't naturally atuned to the dark side and due to his training, he didn't understand the link between emotions and their associated alignment.

They live for hundreds of years and see a lot of things, so they naturally have more experience in life than others, and realize that living as like an angry beast craving power is pointless. The Hutts also live 1000 years or so, but they have greed in their DNA, unlike Yoda species.

This is mostly head canon. Starkiller and Yoda met. They talked calmly with Yoda giving some sage advice and then Starkiller left.
He definitely was not a clone all the clones was a failure except the one sith clone that kills him if you choose the dark side at the ending of the game
From what we know, he was a clone. His birth date is said to be 6 months before the events of the game and I'm sure no 6 month old is beating vader to near death
