Oh yeah, this game looked awesome the first time, and it still does on the second look! Too bad for the performance issues, a simple game like this should not have those if written correctly. That being said, many of these inide games can easily topple AAA games that do have the manpower to create perfection, however, the bigger the company, the less soul in the game generally is, so idk.

I agree with your sentiments. We'll take another look at it tomorrow and see a new area and some new progression. I'm happy to report that I feel the game plays a bit smoother after an update went out. We have to remember that this is all still pre-release and so it's hard to tell what that final product will look like and how smoothly it will play because there could be another patch right around the corner prior to release.
Overall, I think they've built a really great game.
