Makes me feel so warm and cozy knowing I'm one of the *million* viewers watching one of our favorite TH-camrs today. Unfortunately, I had a hard time concentrating with all the handsomeness flying all over the screen! (the Indy image made me literally lol) DUDE thanks for the very cool shout out at the end. So crazy you hit me the one day it was down!
It's always a happy day when there's a new 10MARC! I thoroughly enjoyed this. The Amifox idea is very cool although I can't help feeling that the PC sitting there is doing the actual work with the Amiga acting as a thin client, but it's fascinating to see it in action and is still cooler than not being able to do these things at all on your Amiga. I wholeheartedly share your love for productivity software, I used my 1200 for real in the 90s and still have all the spreadsheets and WP docs (sadly I got rid of my colour dot-matrix printer quite recently when I moved house and regret losing that). I own Wordworth for DTP, it's installed on my Amigas (the original disks still work, legit big-box copy) and I love using it, even though I can't print anything out any more - have you done "ways to hook up the Amiga to a modern printer"? If not, please consider that. Stay handsome!
Thanks, Sheila! Yes, the PC is doing the work. But at least that worthless hunk of junk Ryzen 9 with 32 Gigs of RAM and 6 Terabytes of storage is being useful for something important for a change. And oh yes do I have plans for a printing show. I actually did all the research for one about two years ago. Network printing, laser printing, color printing... But then I never actually filmed it. I did just bring one of my lasers out of storage and hooked it up to my A1200 this last week.
hi Doug :), i stared the video and IA ? translated in french ! but but !! i wanna the original Doug with his clever and very pleasing voice 😅 , thankfully i done it ! again a very interesting video, i have internet on my CD32 and it’s amazing nowadays , i like slow vintage feeling 😍 , now Amiga is very well emulated on Ps- Vita !! workbench 3.2 😉 .
That's neat. I've heard about the emulator for the PlayStation vita. That sounds kind of cool. Thanks for the nice comments. Good to hear from you my friend
For the security minded, you can run the backend for Amifox yourself. The code appears to be available as well, but not sure if anyone has gone through it.
I am running the backend on my Windows machine. It works great that way and makes me feel better for sure. I want to set up a back end for AmiTube too, but need to set up Ubuntu on my Windows machine first.
@@10MARC And of course I now got the time to finish the video and you covered that. 😂 That does sound like a cool integration to make things more cohesive.
New subscriber here I really like your channel! I haven’t had an amiga in years, in fact, all of mine were destroyed in a house fire and I haven’t been able to replace any yet. That being the case, what gives the best Amiga experience as far as being able to do the most? Is emulating it on a modern Linux PC better than actual hardware with upgrades? I’m not sure if I should bother buying all the equipment or if I should just go the emulation route. If I go the hardware route I’m assuming the 4000 is the best Amiga to start with, but is it? which add-ons make it the ultimate Amiga as far as today is concerned? What do I need for a maxed out Amiga? Thanks again! great videos!
If you can only own one, the A1200 is fantastic. Easy to upgrade and can run al.ost anything. The A4000 is great but you will drop serious coin on it. There is the A600 GS from Amigakit for $150 that is really becoming quite nice. I am working on a full review. It can run almost all version of Amiga OS and also just run games right out of the box. Give that a look, too
@ I’m looking at that now, but what about the 1200ng? I can’t tell if that runs original software or only the new emulation stuff. I know the 4000 will be the most expensive but I only have to buy it one time hopefully so I don’t wanna buy something that will leave me with regrets but I’m not even sure if the 4000 can run all the same software as the 1200. Do you know if anybody has a video explaining the differences between all the different options? Will you be making 1?Thanks!
@ and so would I also have all the upgrades built in like from terrible fire, memory expansion, and also run all the software? Or will it only emulate stock? It sounds like if I use an old pc as a dedicated amiga machine I would have the “ultimate amiga”. Is that true? What are good emulators to do what I want? one last question, sorry, lol, but I’ve read that using a power pc is the only way to get the real amiga feel outside original hardware. Is that true or have newer emulators made pc’s as good or better? Thank you so much! It’s so confusing because there are so many options before this I was looking at buying an empty motherboard from amigakit I’m building it myself using a1200ng, but then I read that it doesn’t actually use the omega operating system so it’s so confusing. If I could just do everything with an emulator, I would definitely do that just to get started at least!
Yep. That's what happened to the ability of iBrowse getting on to Gmail. What a poor decision. It cannot have cost Google much of any money to keep the interface alive.
Sorry but the remote web page rendering is an utter hack and horrible user experience IMO. I am in the process of collecting parts to build a completely brand new A1200 with Warp 1260, and translucent purple case and purple ReAmiga motherboard. Just received the newly build mechanical keyboard from Australia. Fun hobby.
I get what you are saying, but it is currently the only way I can access information that I use on a daily basis. It's a miracle it works at all. No if someone creates apps for BlueSky, Facebook (and messenger) and enabled OAUTH support for mail programs, I will be a happy camper
Of course it's an hack, we have even put it on the boxed edition title xD Still, modern HTML and CSS (let alone JS) will overload any classic Amiga - except with a PiStorm maybe. So it's either hack or dontbrowse :D

@@AmigaLove did you notice that I discovered that your website was down right in the middle of my video?
@@10MARC Yeah, I saw that. The chance you hit the site when it was down - one in a million, baby! :)
You and Amiga Love are the only ones who share my love of retro productivity software.
That's why the three of us are the coolest ones on the Internet. I think that just goes without saying, which is why we never hear anyone else say it.
Ah ha! Now it all makes sense! Neat stuff Doug! Takes patience for sure browsing that way. :)
Yes, it is not blazingly fast, but it does work!
Hoorah for Amifox!!!
It's actually really cool! A bit slow, but the alternative is nothing at all!
@@10MARC You can improve your felt performance if you set a larger image size in the settings. It doesnt need to load a new image for scrolling then.
Happy to be in the Amidon notifications block of text on the video. I’m a celebrity now.
More like an Internet Celebrity now. You can open a new Tik Tok channel now!
Thanks for posting!
It always makes my day a little better when you do. :)
I live to serve
Been waiting for a 10 minute Amiga Video
Darn real life keeps getting in the way.

nice video doug!
Thanks my friend!
OMg I had that same Atari Game Center case thing for my 2600 back in the day!
Oh I love my Game Center case. So toss my 7800 in there and take it to shows

I like doing some word processing on my Amiga mostly because I *can't* go online and get distracted. It's a feature, not a flaw 🙂
This is true! When we can't just start browsing Instagram videos it's easier to get actual work done!

Emulation can give you Amigas with the power that could never be built into hardware.

Gmail also removed it's simple Html interface aswell.
Yep. That's what happened to the ability of iBrowse getting on to Gmail. What a poor decision. It cannot have cost Google much of any money to keep the interface alive.
@@10MARC the problem is that those interfaces were a security vulnerability used by hackers to steal data.
