Mental health is exactly why I ride. My mental health practitioner is Dr Harley Davidson FLSB and does wonders every time I have an extended outdoor self-reflection and check up session. Seriously though, as a former service member (army/infantry) and then law enforcement officer ( now retired), mental health is a big problem for many in our community, both in and out of service and others throughout our community. Fortunately over the years , I’ve sorted my loose screws and bolts, but I have lost a few good buddies to the black dog. So, commiserations ol’ Man on the loss of your family member to the black dog. Anything that you promote to keep any organisation in the frame of public awareness is a very positive thing indeed. Respect and keep punching. 👍❤️💙💚
I love the format of your videos. It’s great to experience an outing via motorcycle. Whatever that may include. It’s good seeing the interactions with you guys and those you come in contact with. And being in America, it’s wonderful getting to see the back roads, villages, and shops in Britain. Thank you for all your work!!
Eight years ago we hired a BMW R1200 in Tokyo and had two weeks riding around Honshu. Absolutely amazing experience. We tried to avoid Western style hotels and mainly stayed in Ryokans and even a monastery one night. You will love it.
Your 2 bikes make a great pair, and are absolute beauties. They don’t need noisy pipes, because they have Class. You don’t hear Rolls/Bentley making noise… they just don’t need to. Enjoy Japan Darcy… is your special Japanese test bike a Meguro? ❤️👍😎✅
I had a horse riding lesson for my 30th birthday as a challenge as I was very wary of them. I enjoyed it so much I ended up becoming a very capable rider over the following years. Trust me, horse riding is fun, and just as mentally therapeutic as riding any bike is. These days I ride motorbikes and love the freedom they bring. As for mental health, if you're suffering, *talk to someone* don't be a prisoner to your mind....
At 36 I finally tried riding a horse (beginning of the year). I absolutely love riding a motorcycle to the point of obsession, but if I had the choice.. I'd go back in time to where riding with horses was the norm. Beautiful creatures, and even after a few hours you do start to feel a connection with the horse; their character and style or preference of riding. I wish riding a horse was still the main source of travel, and I feel we missed out on that incredible experience
Nice vid as usual, however - 1. The #1 exhaust for Guzzis is Agostini! ;) 2. Are you buying a T800/UpMap "kit"? 3. You do know that pesky little "E5 E10" sticker comes off the tank right? :) It is a free eysore remedy, mine lasted less than 48 hours before i peeled it off. 4. Enjoy your travels! Tokyo is awesome! It is the only place in Asia i have visited. Cheers!
Great to hear you are heading to Japan it's an awesome country that I'm sure you will love , it has a fascinating biking culture which is completely different from what you have experiencesd in UK and Europe plus you will get to see bikes we just can't get in UK. As for the Larder, I've taken your recommendation and added it to my " must visit" list. Looking forward to seeing your vids from Japan.
Last time I rode a horse was 1968 and it threw me over a fence and then took its self home leaving me in a clump of fresh super stingy nettles. That was in Devon and the only thing I enjoyed on that holiday was the cream and jam scones. I ate so many I'm sure I developed an eating obsession. Overall it wasn't a great holiday however I learned to ride a motorcycle many years later and life got a whole lot better. Whilst they don't cure ones mental health issues they certainly help to keep the lid on things. Great vid and hopefully the Old Man has good insurance when he gets on the cuddy.
Thanks for another great video both. Just wanted to send my best wishes to Darcy for his up coming trip. Please keep the content coming from both of you. PS: Ol' Man good luck riding the horse!
Great video guys A good review on the larder definitely a location I will be adding to my places to go list And as a male of a certain age who’s grown up to not talk or share there feelings I can see how mental health can affect everyone so it’s good to get the word out And on a side note: was it my imagination or was there a jester on the bench behind you in the background 😊
Great change to the channel, horse 🐴 riding and change of scenery with Darcy. Looking forward to seeing how this 2 months of videos goes. We'll done you two.
When the time comes, and if you decide to do your own service on the V7, it would be amazing to see a valve adjustment and oil change video! Another stellar video! Keep it up.
I did a 3 day motorcycle tour on the Izu Peninsula this past summer and it was the best experience of my life. The people are so friendly and the scenery is amazing! Make sure you try and onsen! I'm betting you are either going to ride a Honda GB350 or a Kawasaki Meguro K3. I rode the Meguro and it was a great bike! If I could, I would have never gotten off the bike!
What’s up guys, keep up the good work. Thanks for todays message! Going to ride my 2015 Honda Shadow Aero today giving the 2023 HD Heritage a rest after a nice country ride yesterday. Enjoying retirement, take care guys!! GO BILLS!!
Have a great trip Darcy. I could step into the breach while you're away. We could be, " the old man and the the even older man". Maybe not, doesn't scan does it?
Firstly, the old man is looking very well 🎉.. is the larder in Rotherham.. your trip sounds very interesting.. I'm not sure I've the courage for Asia and Japan.. great relaxed video ❤❤ stay well everyone 🎉

Agreed, Steel bikes only. I'm guessing suzuki intruder or yamaha V-max? Have a great time in Tokyo, it's a really fun place to be. Visited Sapporo last year, my friend is pursuing a PhD there.
Hey, I am in Osaka now! How can I see you? You will enjoy riding here. There are many congested areas that are going from red light to red light, however, and very slow. You will be accustomed to driving on the left. I have two young children in Japanese public schools. I just took my 12-year-old on a motorcycle trip on a BMW R1200RS through mountains and around water. Very hot at 98 degrees Fahrenheit! I ride a Honda SuperCub around Osaka. I can then speed around at near bicycle weight on the 125cc and park nearly anywhere. Motorcycle parking is tough in Japan in the cities--like driving a car.
Hey! This is so cool to hear, I am currently in Tokyo. The other day I rode a chopper accompanied by one of the guys from the shop, was an amazing experience! I will only be in Osaka for one day unfortunately so I won’t be doing any riding there :( I’m with my girlfriends family so I’ve not got much time for bikes during the Japan part of the traveling. I believe I’m travelling to Osaka on the 7th 😊
Hi hope you enjoy your holiday with your family looking forward to seeing the videos and can’t wait to see father on a horse that will be fun take care both of you
You will enjoy the break there. I already know that yo are gonna film film something interesting. Anyways the Old Man will continue with "reviewing bikes" and that is already a traditional thing. :)

Lucky you! Seven weeks in Asia. Japan is really nice and the weather in September to October is very warm and you get the odd rain here and there. Have Fun🩷
Loved that gull wing Merc. The Porsche was good too. Have a great trip in Asia. I'm going with 2024 Honda Shadow 750 cc for the bike your going to be riding.
Enjoy Asia! Looking forward to some exotic videos. As for the mysterious transport, as you said it's "up your street" it has to be either the Honda CB350 H'ness or perhaps the Meguro K3, (which I'd love to see). Of course, it could be that _real_ living classic, the Yamaha SR400, which came out in about 1978 and is still going strong in Japan. Stay tuned! 🤔
I'm fancying a bit of horse riding, no idea why I just do. No idea how to start one though or where the brakes are! Another good video and looking forward to the Asia series and future videos.
Hi Darcy and old man 👍 it's mark from Wirral Merseyside 👍 I've just watched your TH-cam video and you both had really nice weather and something to eat and drink at the larder place and it just looks amazing nice and quiet with very nice staff that works there and everything is all local the food and just don't see that much these days.. anyway Darcy you enjoy your self in Japan and old man enjoy your self aswell and keep your TH-cam videos coming out please i really enjoy watching them with the motorcycles and talking about the motorcycles you are riding. And both of you take care please or by the way Darcy please make sure you get to do TH-cam videos on your upgrade on your motorcycle with fitting new exhaust slip-ons. Great TH-cam video by the way and the weather was great 👍 thanks from mark from Wirral Merseyside 👍
Dealers can't give away those R-18's here in the states.. My local dealer has a new '23 100th anniversary edition for $12k!!! I love them... one of the coolest looking bikes around!
I honestly thought you were leaving TH-cam but thank goodness you arent. Enjoy your vacation and i look forward to the videos. My guess is the Honda CB350.
I had two friends who committed suicide in their late twenties. Both were high achievers academically as well as in their personal lives - came across as incredibly driven, energetic, focussed and highly personable. The first was my best friend through university who got a 1st Class Honours Degree in engineering and after graduating worked for Shell as a Drilling Engineer on a North Sea oil rig but suffered from manic depression (high highs and low low's). The second (who I was less close to latterly) got something like 10-12 'O' levels and went on to get a Ph.D in Materials Science. They were both very smart, athletic as well as having practical skills in spades. The issue they both had was they set such high personal standards that if they failed to achieve the lofty goals they set for themselves they start to think life was not worth living. They had a completely distorted perspective on their own intrinsic worth. People with mental health issues are not always people who have obvious problems. The place you are eating at looks great.
Cheers from Hokkaido! At this time of year, we've the weather and the roads - too hot and humid down Tokyo way.... stay hydrated!🍻 Edit: I'll take a wild stab at Meguro K3.
Looks a nice place to go to for lunch. I have to keep looking at the person on the bench, thought it was someone in a power ranger outfit 😂 Enjoy your trip to Japan how exciting 👍🏼
I don't remember which American film actor said this. But, what he said is that he preferred riding a motorbike, as opposed to riding a horse, is because the controls, clutch, brakes, steering, throttle were more likely to obey your input. That is where his comment ended. I would add, not the case for horses! And, that is why it takes an especially more courageous, confident, humble, compassionate, lenient person to ride a horse.
I’m looking forward to your Japanese 🇯🇵 videos (and the horse riding). I subscribe to 4 different Japanese motorcycle vloggers at the last count, it’s a fascinating country and they ride on the left. Enjoy sleeping on the floor ! 🇬🇧
Great video as always , horses don’t work on the road , whatever speed you come round the corner in your car or bike the snooty horse riders always kick off and tell you to slow down even if your doing the speed limit . How are we supposed to know they are there ? Go back to the field ?
Don’t forget that in the countryside, a speed limit is a maximum; not a target, and that in some places such as a blind bend, where there could be horses or a tractor with a bale spike coming at you, a considerably slower speed may be appropriate. This is coming from The Ol Man, an ex boy racer, but as someone always aware of countryside hazards. If you see a horse on the road, no matter what the rider does whether ott or not, please always slow down to walking pace; we always do. 👍🏼👍🏼
Darcy off to japan so finally we can see him riding so good japanese refined engine bikes. Btw BSA gold star launched here recently and totally love the retro classic looks of the bike, almost everyone liking it by the way it looks itself.
Motorcycles literally got me out of depression, my life as a whole and achievements improved 10 fold since i got into motorcycling 6 years ago, it is a wonderous thing what an engine on 2 wheels can do for your mental well being. I'm 31 right now and i know motorbikes will forever be a part of my life till i'll be bed ridden, when i'll die i'll want to be burried with my motorcycle on top of my casket since i will plan to ride into the afterlife.
Love the sound of your Guzzi with the Mistrals :) I hope you will do a video about tuning your ECU. 2:20 the Porsche looks great (because it is an old and original Porsche) but i completely disagree with the Mercedes, this one is just another ugly modern car. SL300 Gullwing is a beauty. If anyone wanna see and hear really old and awesome sounding (sports) cars, visit Mille Miglia in Italy, one of the best events if not the best. Mr Darcy i hope you enjoy your vacation in Asia, Japan is a lovely country with extremely nice people and once in my life i wanna go there as well. ps. I myself suffer from depression since i was ~16 years old, i am 35 now. Sadly i am a person with chronic depression, it comes and goes all the time. One reason i will get my bike license next year. Something which helped me massively wasn't traditional meds but St. John's wort (Laif 900).

Agree 100%!
I like that you've become a channel showing real life, rather than the usual YT "here's another excitingly same as the last bike" vid. Carry on....
Great sponsor. So sad more people have issues and have no one to talk to so services like this are key to help them👍
Good on you gents. Nicely done. And definitely needed.
I was mesmerised by the old guy wearing the long shorts and white socks in the background.
Liking the new more relaxed format. Happy Trails Darcy and good luck with that horse, should be a good one...

Totally agree. The only thing that saves lives on a bike is defensive riding.
I spent 6 weeks touring Japan by train. Loved it. An amazing place. You will have a great time!

Your dad's R18 is truly awesome and really suits him. I'd love to see him test ride the Triumph Rocket 3 and see how he likes it.
Hilarious can’t wait for someone my age riding a new horse 🐴 . Fantastic 😊
Hi ,I noticed the BMW doesn't have that hideous license plate on it, I am curious what that plate is and if you all could get that one instead.
Great to hear motorcycles have helped you through your depression 👍🏼👍🏼
I would guess the bike you're hiring in Japan is the Suzuki Boulevard M109R? Or the Honda Shadow phantom?
Oooops I forgot the Honda fury 🤣
Honda CT125. called it
Darcy, take off that rubber covers out of top fork bolts, bike looks much better without them.
Someone said that the the offbeat sound of a Harley Davidson was like a horse cantering.
You going to test ride a CB 1100
Colm from Ireland 🇮🇪 ☘️
My guess is Yamaha SR 400 or 500
Nice vid!
Darcy had a 125cc pony
