I have an Econoline 350 5.4L. It was vandalized a few months ago. The perpetrator cut the wiring harness completely through all the wires at the PCM coming out of the firewall. I replaced the entire harness under the hood with one from pick a part . I've spent countless hours researching and tracking down where dozens of wires are supposed to go ,along with constantly checking, replacing, and rechecking fuses/relays. I've figured out everything ( when I started, there were at least a dozen issues, from the OD light flashing, no 1st gear or OD, no lights, cruise control, engine misfiring, shifting hard, no passing downshift, it wouldn't come out of park after starting the engine, etc etc). I've managed to get everything working properly except the passing gear and the hard upshifting. After all this beating my head on a wall ,I've narrowed it down to the fuse (#12 on the interior fuse box) for the Transmission Range sensor, not getting any kind of voltage whatsoever. The fuse is good. It just has no power going to the fuse box to that particular fuse. I'm proud of the progress that I've made so far, being that I'm no ASE certified mechanic by no means, but I'm to the end of my rope with this and completely frustrated. If anyone has any idea what to do, I could use some advice and encouragement. My family relies on this vehicle. It's more than just transportation, I make my living with it and desperately need it to run again.
Great video. 2009 Nissan Murano 188k miles Shifts to “P” and “R” but not “N” or “D” P0705 is the code and it states “Transmission Range Sensor A” where is that? Thanks
First of all I want to commend you on your video. I have a 2013 Nissan Rogue where is my transmission range sensor located? Thank you so much for your helpful video.
My issue was my daughter put her soft cover book down as i went to shift in drive and then it didn’t let me shift all way in drive and was sort of between neutral and drive
On a nissan versa it could be moisture on the reverse light bulbs the p0705 code can be cleared replacing the bulbs and starting the vehicle on neutral. The lights are connected to the neutral switch wiring and will decrease the current going to it.Thank you.
Wasn’t the safety switch, not the wiring. The PCM is the next step . My mechanic believes it this . Since the car runs good . But the D4 flashes , tcs and check engine light is on . Slams into reverse. So testing it at Honda because they seem to be the only ones that have this software and super knowledge for this PCM. Trust me I’ve looked everywhere. Yaaaay get to pay them 160 to just test it . Hope this helps . Question. Could it be the main relay that helps power the ecm/ pcm ? Thanks
So apparently the smart guy that installed my new toy .. the breathalyzer in my car did. It . He tapped in the power to the starter and was not supposed to
@@terrybo5924 yea it is but it was literally the install of my breathing device.. was power from the starter , not where it should of been powered from so now I must open a lawsuit against the mechanic that swears it was not his fault. What a waste of life on my part but I did learn a lot about this area
How did you check the issues one by one? Did you replace each item? I have the same issue was thinking if there is a way to which part is actually bad.
Mine when I put it instead it doesn't advance and on the grill it doesn't come out in what change it is and when I put it in reverse it wants to advance and even in drive it wants to advance I bought him a new transmission and tried to find that transmission sensor but it doesn't have a place to put it is an Audi A8 from the year 2008 I'll try to check those details
P0705 2008 Lexus ES 350 I have changed the transmission range sensor still no result, wiring is good and I also changed transmission switch still the same thing, finally I changed the TCM still the same thing 😢😢😢
Question for the OP and commenter, is the vehicle driving fine? My venza just had the light and code come up for this but yet it still drives fine. Any answer is helpful, thanks.
Tech. named this to be the reason why my car is saying its "not in park" while its currently parked stopping me from starting the car. Anybody know if that sounds ideal?
Overdrive light just kept on blinking. No shifting problems. Odometer working. No check engine light issue. Except that blinking Od OFF light. Mechanic said the transmission range sensor needs replacing. Idk if i should believe him 😢
The people are crazy now they put that on the dashboard now. Somebody had the crazy idea to put her out there on the engine. Thank God they don't do that anymore.
Here I am stuck in the middle of Montana with a transmission issue. Thanks so much for posting your video. Gives me hope.

It needs to be diagnosed, but I would check/test the neutral safety switch.
@@HVAC_Mechanicmy BMW 528i. While driving cog light comes on and gets stuck in any random gear. When the car warms up.
So this isn't a manufacturer issue.. my son just got this code on a 2021 Camry SE
I changed the.sensor.. my drive will shift sometimes an when it does it bucks like it wants to shift. I changed the shifter also.
My car suddenly does not detect the gear, do you think its because of the sensor faulty?
