    It's weird how I'd only accept this idea if it came from another person who I knew was an INFP.

    I'm INFP but I think how we are raised has a lot to do with the ability for us to make decisions and control impulsivity. I have been making some impulsive desicions and I wish I could be firm on making sure I stay true to myself, my morals and values.

      Right? I think my indecisiveness stems from my opinions rarely considered seriously back then and some people were easily upset when I disagreed with them even when I gave rational explanations on why I thought so. I think my Te is pretty good, it's just that I feel guilty if I prioritize that above (other people's) Fi.

    It kinda makes sense to avoid hurting your head over inconsequential matters, since we use most of it digging deep daily. Thanks man!

    i instantly wanted to liked this video! i love the upbeat personality! its true, then infps talk, they are expressive and speak from the heart. guess that's why i kept listening before hitting the like button (omg, i just realized i waited for more info like an INFP for would haha) . I guess that's also why everytime i would speak in class, everyone would go silent to hear me. anyway, i love the way you explain everything. haha i took notes. but great advice on decision making. I need to start doing that. deciding dinner with a bf who doesnt care whereas i care too much gets annoying and we often just forget dinner in time and have to go to fast food cuz its late. any who, great advice! great personality, keep it up

      +Type Tips People don't know what an INFP is thinking about perhaps because INFPs don't care what they think about what they think and thus are less compelled to share their perspective.

    Very helpful! Explains a lot for me. BTW, there is a mental health school of thought/recovery group out there called Recovery International (RI), which basically provides a variety of pithy one-liners that help you navigate situations that bring on symptoms, such as anxiety or anger. One of the one-liners (which they call "spots") is "There are no rights or wrongs in the trivialities of life." Your talk made me think of that "spot." RI was the brainchild of a Dr. Abraham Low who wrote books in the 40s and 50s, so some of their materials seem really dated now, even to me (and I'm a whole lot older than you, lol!) But it's good stuff and I thank you for this good reminder that I don't have to overthink every little decision. Good job!!

      This is funny because, I am dating an Infp (i am an infp myself) and one time we got very stoned together. I started getting visuals, and I saw him as angelic and beautiful, he was in the clouds and had wings and the sun shone around him. I saw similar when i was tripping on dMT, except he was surrounded by a serene river and hundreds of sunsets. He is my best friend and although as two infps weve had our own troubles, we prevail together and strive to change.

    Hi and thank you for the video. I'm an INFP and I've had it rough, as I'm sure all other INFP's had. But a year ago I've started practicing Mindfulness meditation.. it has helped me and other INFP's (and of course different personality types as well) A LOT. it's the most practical way to literally rewire our brain. it gives you perspective and peace of mind.

    Thank you for this video! I want to learn to improve a lot of things, especially decisions! Haha so funny some of the things I can't decide on sometimes. I am INFP. I recently took the plunge and tested because I just wanted to learn more about why I am the way I am. How about the strong desire to just 'make the right decision' ? Something I've dealt with my whole life. Anyone know what I mean? You just want to do the right thing so badly, but there is no way ever knowing 100% what that is, therefore you become almost paralyzed. This is probably part of the idealism in a way. Learning to let go of that is so hard.

    • @carrikartes1403
      @carrikartes1403 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! The need to be right. It probably has a lot to do with aligning with inner conviction.
      I want to be right so badly and I dislike that about myself so I have for years intentionally publicly admitted when I am wrong or mess up.
      This has been a great practice in helping me accept myself.
      I realized I will always wish to be right but now I accept it and it doesn't drive my behavior anymore.

    I love this. I had moments when I thought I was watching myself in the mirror watching you. Love your hair by way. Normally I'm pretty skeptical about rote psychological profiles. 28 years ago when I first started my current job they gave me a M and B test and I came out to be a very strong infp. Overtime I completely forgot about itbut recently I've been drawn to TH-cam's about the infp personality. I find it uncanny how well matched I feel I am to the infp.instead of feeling badly about my personality this is making me feel good and validated. I also realize major decisions I've made have come from feelings in the moment. and although the short-term outcomes of decisions have been hard, looking back I see a thread of continuity and how I've lived my life but makes me feel like maybe I made the right decision all along even though the outcomes in the short-term were very difficult for me. Love your video keep them coming bud!

    LOL so funny what your saying about making decisions. I dunno when I started doing this, but I intentionally don't read through a whole menu (unless I'm in the mood for something specific) and just chose the first thing that catches my eye. Also the things with my friends as well- They will all be indecisive or polite and then I just throw out a random thing and voila decision made!

    This was me literally having to decide what to eat for Mexican food last week😭 for me personally, it has to do with not having a preference of food because I love it ALL. I always want to get the best thing on the menu with everything on it while my friends are pretty basic and in my opinion picky food eaters.

Then te and touch se to explain myself in the best most decent appropriate way possible. Using fi authenticity to cover the lack of fe. Then routine and normality to cover se weaknesses but leaving space for new ideas and better solutions to be implemented when thought of.

    So I thought I was ENFJ, or that perhaps I was INFP as a kid and changed into an ENFJ as I got older or became an adult. I'm 28 now. So here is my question: I am very very social. I love meeting new people and forming lots of close friendships. I have 4 or 5 "best friends" (no really!) and then I have several "close friends" and then a lot of "acquaintances." But I am still naturally very introspective and reflective and think about things a lot. But whenever presented with a social opportunity I almost always say yes, not because I feel I should or anything like that, but because I genuinely want to. So the question is... Is it still possible that I am an INFP? Or do I sound more like an ENFJ? What if I'm some sort of super-social, friendship-oriented INFP? Like an extroverted INFP (not the same as ENFP though!)?? And I am directing this question specifically to the person in the video, I don't know your name.

      Actually INFPs mature and become more balanced as they gain understanding of themselves and the world.
      You may have been more introverted and decided to be more open. We are not static personalities.
      And I think INFPs strive for personal growth.

So I asked him what's wrong? He said I looked straight into his eyes and he can see the sparks in my eyes, and no one actually did that when just picking a beer😆

      Try taking at least 5 different mbti tests. But make sure when u are answering u ask yourself to be honest and truthful and really really answer the way u truly feel. (Remember nobody sees the results but you). It helps if u think of any difficult questions as if they were real world scenarios and that will help u answer in a way that's more true to yourself. Also, just FYI....I took this test originally at 18 and was an enfp. I took it many years after and was always an enfp (the extrovert mirror of infp) on every single test I took. However I had a traumatic SA happen in 2012....over the last few years I have taken this test many times and am an infp now everytime. My belief is that this event caused me to become strongly introverted but overall my personality is the same just that I'm now an introvert with introverted feelings, etc.
      Hope this helps. If u need some links to good websites with the tests let me know :)

  • @ThePastAnalysis
    @ThePastAnalysis 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hmm.. this video was interesting, but something else intrigues me more. I'm intrigued by the kind of INFP you are. I'm an INFP as well, by MBTI. Some of your decisions in this video and on channel overall kind of shock me.
    Compared to me, you seem far more interested in bringing in other perspectives on things. On the "About" section of your channel, you have a paragraph where you talk about bringing in even shadow parts. Even in this video, you wound up quoting Dr. Nardi, someone else, for a large portion of it.
    I am nothing like this. I believe other perspectives are important, but I'm always wear-y of the other person "taking me over" so to speak. Of course, it still happens, but I mentally construct it in a negative way. Meanwhile, you seem to view it positively, as though the taking in of the other perspective is an integral part of you. Of course, this component is part of both of us, but I think our way of viewing this same INFP trait is peculiarly different. I believe the culprit for this difference between you and I is that in socionics you're an INFJ-Ne. You lean on the Ne more. I know for a fact, I don't do this. As a result, I have quite a history of decisiveness. I've gotten into many debates with people, even though they drain me. I do so, I think, because I cling heavily to my Fi. I view my subjective to be so important, that I sadly unintentionally sway others to drop theres. Notice, I don't want to do that. I merely want to defend my subjective, but the result is a battling between my subjective and other peoples' subjectives. I'm actually working on the opposite of you, distancing myself from that type of behavior.
    I'll watch more of your videos, but what's attracting me most here is how you, as an individual and INFP, configures things mentally. Of course, these are just my views on our differences and I'm eager to hear what you think. :D

    • @LeonTsao
      @LeonTsao 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Past Analysis I see so are you of the Fi subtype? Yes I do believe in integrating all parts I think the purpose of typology is for us to bring in all aspects into a whole. I would like to know what you mean by "I construct it in a negative way". Thanks for sharing your perspective that is interesting. I do have another video about INFPs and being judgmental called "Rewire Your Brain! Bein' Judgy". Actually most INFPs are indecisive, but once they make a decision it is hard for them to stray from that.

    • @ThePastAnalysis
      @ThePastAnalysis 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Leon Tsao Yes, I am of the Fi subtype. :D As for my statement "I construct it in a negative way," that statement actually has a lot to do with the last sentence in your comment. There are quite a bit of things I feel I already have an opinion on and I don't really like straying from that opinion. I will always take in other perspectives, because I feel it is the right thing to do, to add more perspectives in, but I still want to feel like me. I sometimes fear taking in perspectives too much and thus becoming just another person in the crowd. I strive to be different though, to be unique, and so becoming just another one of the crowd is the last thing I want to do. I still take in other perspectives a ton, I guess I just accentuate that I haven't in order to keep up that feeling of uniqueness.
