Did you ask Robinson Glass? I would stain or do somethng to make that reddish base look darker. This is an excellent piece and you did an amazing job. So glad you used oil. Loved that idea to use the washer.
I didn’t. I only talked with the front desk staff, but someone there might have an idea. Yes, others mentioned the base Honestly, in person it looks great but many seem to think it needs to be black 🤔🖤
I appreciate you doing veneer repair. So so many thrift flippers just pull all of it off and paint the underlying, usually composite wood, and it such a step down.
Thank you for showing all of the veneer repairs - sometimes it’s really helpful to have many samples of technique for future reference. ❤ I love the washer solution with the hardware too. The final result - just WOW!! Gorgeous.
The mirror was likely attached with a bolt through the hole in the vanity and a thin nut in the slot on the mirror. There could have also been a small bracket from the vanity to the base of the mirror to keep it from twisting. It is a beautiful piece!
Looks beautiful, Lisa. As for the brackets, I know Trena at John’s Furniture Repair you tube channel would be able to help you with that. Let us know how the mystery is solved.
And I third that I was going to say one of the things I learned is when adding those little pieces of veneer while the glue is still wet add some of the sanding dust in and it will look more blended in where u can’t really tell unless u no where the repair places are
Absolutely agree, Trena, from John's furniture Repair is the best!! It's a steel rod that goes in the hole, then a metal bracket attachment. She will help you! Good luck & a Absolutely great find!!
I love this project. I wonder if it had a rod through and also some kind of metal hinge to secure it. It’s obviously top heavy. It looks very dansk danish to me

Such incredible work Lisa. You’re quickly becoming my favorite TH-camr. Love how you always keep it honest and real and keep working to perfect your craft.
I’m behind in my viewing schedule 🫣 I voted for this piece & holy smokes it’s as stunning as I knew it would be! No suggestions for the mirror, I’m sorry, but tons of respect for the work you had to do! Beautiful call on the wax ❤❤❤
What an unusual, stunning piece. So glad you did not try to do anything clever, but just took it back to what it was meant to be. Maybe that base coving was painted to bring out even more that rich grain.
From the looks of it, the support may have been a bolt that just went up into the mirror thru a T bracket or a couple of L brackets that were fixed to the back of both parts. There may have been a mounting bit behind the mirror (inside the hollow) that helped stabilize the whole thing. The safest way without trying to remove the mirror to add all that stuff is probably finding a way to get some L brackets and a rod you can glue in, screwing those L brackets to the back and adding some more brackets towards each end. Not the most stable but will hold it if you're not moving it a lot.
You did an absolutely amazing job on this quirky, beautiful piece. I love art deco and it always makes me think of a 30s movie star sitting at the vanity and putting on her makeup or just admiring herself in the mirror. Sterling work! What an outstanding job. Love the hard wax oil finish on this piece. It’s perfection. I’m not sure people would have fussed about making the base darker. It looks like it was dark to begin with. I use Fusion mineral paint and I love it.

Fab job on the veneer repairing, you should be so stoked on how well it came out❤ for the mirror, maybe a steel dowel? With a metal support to connect the back of mirror to the back of the piece ? As added support with the metal dowel?
