- This is a story about the relationship between bike owner and builder. About partnerships in creativity.
When Dan Fitch set out to get his 1973 Harley Davidson Ironhead customised, he had a certain image in his mind of what that would be. Little did he realise that, during the build of his bike, his vision would be challenged. Challenged by a builder who would change Dan's vision into something magnificent.

Ride Safe.
THANK YOU! I love these stories. The Humaness, The Wonder, The magnificence!
wow that craftsmanship! what a monster! love it
Mate fuck what people think. that bike is a beast. nice work.
raw and beauty, that's the first two words that crosses my mind
definitely one of my favourite
awesome channel guys , while watching it feels u too are the part of the story . thank you for making such videos and inspire other riders, keep making such videos .
The Bike is a stunning work of art ; so beautiful . You can never go wrong with a Harley because they are living , breathing Dragons in the Motorbike World . The whole film was a joy to view . I'm going riding one of mine right now !
This bike just blows my mind. I love it. I want to ride it
"Then enemy of creativity is good sense." Great line.
Ace story! I love the push back with "hipster" and all that bull s@it. The guys passionate about bikes and is taking us through his story - just enjoy the ride... 👍
What a machine, great film, love the editing and the story
great story, gotta respect the custom 73 Ironhead and its rider creator
Incredible how much better these keep getting. Love it.
I ride a 125 Yamaha Virago, and seeing this beast actually makes my chest hurt. I need a bigger, meaner bike. This hardtail is a work of art. Amazing story
Such a great looking bike, and I liked his comparison of iron heads in the Harley world to the way skaters look at guys on roller blades
I agree with you and whole heartedly understand your concept which I quite like. Many of your films are interesting and show how people came to like and then love motorcycles through a world of influences. As you'll notice I never mentioned the word "builder" just the build! There is so little content regarding the bike itself, it's more about the guy that commissioned it and his partners life and looks which are hardly unusual or interesting.
+Jim Allan Have another watch again but bear in mind that it's about the process of creating something. Also, the bike has had quite a bit of publicity already (see: www.pipeburn.com/home/2012/9/20/evolutions-72-harley-ironhead-sporty-no-22.html) and this was simply a look at the partnership that went into the build.
+Stories of Bike - I love the Stories of Bike videos and the strong messages that they deliver. It's great that you're focusing on the riders and not the mechanics. Since 99% of the people watching these videos are riders or want-to-be riders, it really strikes a chord. But I have to agree with Jim Allan's "hardly unusual or interesting" remark in regards to some of your more recent videos. I'm not trying to hate, but there's a reason the story of Jodie and her TU250 has received a much better response than your other videos. Yes, her bike is sick! But her story also has drama. Dan's Ironhead is a masterpiece, but his story has no drama. No conflict. No growth or change. He just pays for the motorcycle *Roll Credits.
I know it's easier said than done, but I urge you, Stories of Bike creator, to look for the real stories and forget the bikes. I think your audience would rather watch a kid racing flat track with his buddies on a beat up CB350 than Mr. Fancy Pants on his $15,000 shiny custom build that has no history and even fewer miles on the odometer. And if you're going to focus on the bike, then follow Petrolicious' lead and interview the guys with the welding masks that can recite the service manual word for word while pointing out the errors in torque specs. Just my 2c. Love your channel :]
+Amateur Chemist Thanks for your thoughts here and I tend to agree with what you're saying also. Through the making of these episodes I'm learning what makes compelling story telling while also finding the balance of what interests my audience. I agree that the story isn't as emotionally satisfying as Dream or Romance. But for this episode, that wasn't what I set out to do. While I strived to make the story as engaging as possible, my main focus for this episode was style and tone, using lighting, frame composition and music to a stronger effect that I have in previous episodes. In short it was an attempt to flex some different film making muscles and try something a little off formula.
You'll notice that the episodes that came after this (Answers, Sister, DGR and Discover) were more rider story focused. It's been a while since I've posted a new episode due to an increase in commercial work, but I've been reading all the comments and considering them for the next lot of episodes coming up. So keep the commentary coming!
Kickass story man! Keep the wheels turning and the beavers grinning 😀 😎
I just bought a 1983 harley ironhead. XLS Sportster 1000cc. bored out to 1200. I love the bike but had to send it to the mechanic. My first bike, I'm 18, and I've dropped thousands on it. So much fun, freedom, it's amazing. I'm taking welding classes as well because i wan't to learn how to fabricate the bikes. one day i wish to open my own custom shop with my dad.
Just a little story idk I see people posting as well :)
Beautiful bike by the way... The word unique has never been so present.
Great video, wonderful story and beautifully shot... it should be on television.
The exhaust is killer. Well done!
This series is awesome, especially for someone saving up cash to buy his first bike.
I love these... always good lighting and composition, it's perfect, beautiful piece of handcrafted work.... the bike also.
Beautiful!
Good Money and Good Taste? Always a satisfying combination.
Really do like that industrial look.
Good film work again. Well done.
I love this bike. It's just made to get you from point A to point B. Nothing more.
Love my Ironhead
Amazing bike, awesome video! I always look forward to your new episodes!
What a work of Art in motion!
A bit of topic but I’ve been dying to find a riding jacket similar to the gentleman who owns the bike... any idea who designed it?
Beautiful machine
This reminds me of the harley episode on South park. Quick question are there millennial biker gangs that wear skinny jeans and are strictly vegan in Australia ?
oh yeah, mate. Wanna join?
I remember seeing this bike on Pipeburn and thinking "Beautiful bike, but how the heck does someone ride it?" Now I know. :)
There are two ways to get enough. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less, but i think as long as you are on the open road, you willl reach to your own satisfaction.
+Elmounir otman Fucking A. My old bike is a little rusty, leaks oil and won't turn heads in Shoreditch, but its my fucking bike, rain/snow or whenever the Sun shines.
Should've interviewed the mechanic.
Great MUSIC! And story.
I watched this maybe 10 times great video great bike cool man keep it up ... i even took a shot of the bike to print it and frame it with a vintage classic frame in my living room ...
No way! Get in touch with my via FB or email and I'll send you a high res photo for you to use instead of a screenshot!
a definite masterpiece.
great storie really inspiring.love the bike.
I love the videos on this channel. It's like you took the movie Why We Ride and turned it into series.
I still haven't seen that yet! It'll be coming to Australia for the first time in a couple of weeks.
Its fantastic..and just know that while you're watching it, that its similar to how I see your videos. Well done
Yeah me to, this channel rock a lot :D Waiting for more vids ;)
Riding a a slow, loud, rigid bike, with the heat of the engine searing your legs, the vibration of the cylinders banging against your nuts, the engine is an ironhead, and you managed to quit smoking? I AM impressed.
Awesome bike!....nice jacket
probably the best looking bike you guys featured on in here, weldone
It’s so seldom we see choppers done right with the backbone parallel to the rear head, and the forks at essentially the same angle as the downtube. These things are critically important.
They do a magnificent job of getting the background of these stories & editing! 🤯 #Storiesofbike #Livinit
nice story once again and a beautiful bike !
and that's indeed a beautiful machine.
such awesome people
absolutely amazing
What a beautiful bike
makes me want to go out and bulid a custom bike
Very well done, the bike, the video the story behind it.
this series is killer guys! keep up the great work! ive watched every episode and my god is it great! Subscribed!
Man, I feel so inspired right now. Love this look, time to go shopping on gumtree me thinks
Awesome episode. Dan seems like a top bloke.
Simply awesome as usual !!! love the story !!
Awesome bike.
I would have liked to hear and see more of the scooter, information about the build, part's etc.my nephew bought a 77 XL and is in the process of making what he wants,so that's my interest and I've modified quite a few in the last 30 years! Greetings from tampa florida
I have always loved this bike and it's the gearshifter is on the right side not the left. now it is not that strange if you know that my left leg was lost in an accident. I do ride and I have modded my bike so I can ride but damn that's a nice motorcycle.
So a hipster goes to a custom shop..
one of the best videos on youtube. thanks u guys for making such a amazing bike and such a amazing video. cheers.
Coming soon to Dubai, the beast.
Great job with your videos!!! Keep them coming!!!
This is abolutely stunning ! WAOU ! just felt in love
Really liked the bike tho people here are bit harsh on the rider calling him hipster its his bike its his story tho he was talking much about lifestyle than bike but yeah it was great video the bike was really good the details.Great work guys!
nice style.....elegantly hip
Nice Bike.
Why are we hearing this fake talk? Not the builder?
Coz, I felt that there were too many builder stories and not enough rider stories. Additionally, I wanted to explore the dynamic between the owner and builder (because, lets be honest, not all of us can build) from the owner's point of view.
fair fair
That bike is super nice, hipster style. Now all you need is a pipe to smoke and drink cappuccino, don't forget the croissant.
Is this film suppose to be about egos cause its not about motorcycles.
James gaszak leave him alone bully
Does anyone know the kind of gloves he's wearing? They look amazing! Stories of Bike, if you know, please share! Yet another amazing video.
Epic!
A really great video as well as a gorgeous looking bike! I'm curious to know if it would be possible to obtain that frame. I would love to build one similar to that style. It's to die for!
What style of bike is this?? it seems like a springer bobber but cant be being having such a tucked riding position
yeah...this one didn't resonate with me like the others...shame... as it's a darn fine bike to begin with being a HD Shovel!
Pretty cool jacket he's wearing, anyone know what it is?
He lives The Dream!!!!!!!!!!!!
great video... lots of you're ideas on your bike have inspired me... i'm getting a harley, hopefully tomorrow, one question... I Like the helmet you have what kind is it?
Hey Raul, it's a Biltwell Gringo.
Stories of Bike what kind of frame? Would it be possible to know all the stuff he used to build it I would like to knowto build mine like that please advise
beautiful interpretation - can I have some more? Please?
This bike is just a trash copy of this one...
gascapkustom.blogspot.com.br/2013/03/harley-knucklehead-by-rough-crafts-zero.html
Probably the least gripping episode yet. I think because he had someone else build his bike it just didn't hit the same level as previous episodes. He is just riding someone else creation. Not a fan this time.
I don't get what the problem is with that?
I dont understand what wrong with having a shop build your bike. Not everyone has the skill time or place to build their own bike. Shop that build custom bike creates job helps there employees support their family and the local community. It also brings more people into the hobby and raises the bar for the home builder with new ideas and trends. We really need both to keep the hobby alive
@@jcerullo5015 Exactly.
Love it , bike looks fabulous , fuk the haters
awesome
Over the top hipsters.
What bike?? All i see is a dude talking and talking 😒
awesome vid! does anyone know the helmet he is wearing? thx
I'm going to say Biltwell Gringo; it could also be the Bell Bullitt with the shield removed, but the Gringo would appeal to the subject more based on the video.
Forward swung cruiser pegs AND clip ons. That must feel interesting. Nice video though
Would you be able/willing to build another one exactly like this? (Same dimensions, clip-ons, parts etc) if so, how much would it cost me if I was to get one built from you? - from canada
This is a 5 year old video. Start with the person who ACTUALLY built the bike not this cheque writer talking shit for 10 minutes.
Heya. How Thoughtful Of You! accurate side
Any idea which jacket that is old mate is wearing?
Pretty sure it's from Bodaskins.
Anyone know what jacket he is wearing? I'm in love with it and the bike!
This one I think: bodaskins.com/mens/biker/kay-michaels-quilted-biker-oil-black
Stories of Bike That is it! Thank you, wish it had armor. Great video series, please keep em coming.
***** Thank you! was about to Email Cam about this jacket!
Love these stories! great idea!
Nice video, keep it up! :)
You should make an episode about history, so the title will be; Stories of Bike | History
Very diferente 😮👍🏼
Where's the bike?
Sunning video!
Beautiful absolutely pure animalism
ugh that owner someone rescue that bike from him
what's the music, plz? :D
We write our own original music for each episode. We'll be posting this episode's soundtrack soon, but check out our SoundCloud link in the description.
Fuckin amazing
Great vid
the negging comments here make me a little sad - great bike and story, thank you. Ride free (but let's always ride free of prejudice) - it's the journey we all make that really matters...............
Never knock build, better then going buy bike off floor. Still didn't see builder touch as if hand made parts. I see a lot "Lowbr." tank, etc... why not make everything. If customer happy guess that's all matters.
Good looking bike, except for that S&S air cleaner. Looks like an after thought.
This dude is too much lol
