'Agniveer' Salary, Allowances, Compensation: Top Military Officer Explains

- Top military officer said recruitment of soldiers will increase to over one lakh in the future under the Agnipath scheme. "In the next 4-5 years, our intake (of soldiers) will be 50,000-60,000 & will increase to 90,000 - 1 lakh subsequently. We've started small at 46,000 to analyse the scheme...and to build up infra capacity," said Additional Secretary Lt Gen Anil Puri, Department of Military Affairs (DMA). He asserted that ‘Agniveers’ would get the same allowance in areas like Siachen which are applicable to regular soldiers. Watch the full video for more.

If you can't figure out what to do with your life after your tour of duty then you don't deserve to be a veteran. All the training and discipline of the service is wasted on your pathetic life.
Graduation completes by the age 21. This scheme will last 21-25. After that they can go to any field as per their graduation study ( If they don't get selected among 25%). 25 is not much for current situation. Many youths are sitting at home, jobless, 25-28 years. Additionally, it's a proof of physical fitness and dedication which will give them preferences in another field. More importantly there will be no carrier gap and in hand money of 10-12 lakh at the end of 4 years. I don't think it's a bad deal.

Respective state polices should absorb the better group out of those who gets out after four years. They already have better training and if (un)lucky then combat experiences as well. That can come in handy during riot managements, at least these guys won't buckle like the civilian police forces. But along with all these speculations, I also have a high suspicion that these guys will serve just as fourth class stuffs at the hands of senior zamindar-like officers of the forces.

Army is the worst in terms of enforcing draconian rules of the colonial ages, they still use sahayaks/orderlies who are simply used as hands of the officers, walking the dogs, doing shopping for their families etc. this is just one example. This is a good plan. I served in an emergency commission for 4 + years in 1963-67. That was exactly like this. It was a good experience at that time. There were many permanent soldiers who wanted to quit but could not. This plan will give them a chance.

Reducing job security is not a populist policy. If govt wanted vote then they would have announced free schemes like kejriwal do for his politics. This was the demand of army. What govt gonna get out of this ? So better think before speaking ill about army.

Govt and NDA mentioned that people who served 4 years in Agneveer while leaving will get the medals and these medals will help to apply for state police departments and other Govt and Private jobs. They only chose age between 17.6 to 21 because by the time they complete 4 years of service, they would get a good amount of money in handy and a Service Medals and they too have enough age (26) where they can apply for other states and central Govt jobs apart from NDA service.
I believe this Agneveer training might be more arduous training as Blackcats, Nagaland Gurkha and other sectors. Because of those categories, people work for the short term and later they were eligible for other category rules.

This move is to reduce the total personnel in the auxilliary forces , and funds saved will be used to modernize the army. Think of it like this . You may employ 100 or 1 lakh more soldiers than your enemy , but a single high altitude drone can turn the things around by a single air to ground missile and kill hundreds of your soldiers in a single attack. This is 21st century modernity of your equipments decide your fate. We are on the verge of a 2 front war with both pak and china, china has modernity superiority over us they have stealth drones, so many more rocket projectors , more squadrons of fighter aircrafts. Quality trumps quantity remember that. We are overmanned we need to reduce the size of our forces to propery sustain our defence modernisation. This was supposed to happen in the future if not today. But i must critisize the govt that everytime they bring out a good scheme or a policy , they dont communicate it properly to the nation. Although i believe all the doubts will be cleared soon . I am going to join it just for the service not for money , i am from a descent family its not necessary for me to join this scheme to sustain my family my only purpose is to serve my nation as long as it wants me to. 1) 10% political reservation in every election.
2) 4 years of age exemption in every government exam and job with 10% reservation , after completion of 4 years.
3) 5 % reservation in state police
4)2% reservation in Medical, Engineering , pharmacy , and other every education.

If the government's intention is really honest one, than please extend this scheme of "Agni-veer" to CDS (Combined Defense Services Examination) and NDA (National Defense Academy and Naval Academy Examination).

People should understand that this new method of recruitment is approved by the army , Airforce and navy after long discussions with govt. U can force govt but u can never force army by protesting or burning trains , destroying public properties. If u don't like this then don't join army . No one is forcing u. That's it . Join police , CRPF , CISF etc etc.

Agniveers when relieved can be easily obsorbed in multiple govt jobs in centre /states, mandatorily as they have plenty as these young lot are trained in multifaceted jobs -Dvrs, veh mechs, hy veh Dvrs, cooks ,barbers, data operators, clerk's, Def security corps ,cisf ,armed constabulary, civ police , Bhels, Ecils, cvds, cfads, AFV factories, many more.
Main problem is not salary but job security because many of them will be spending there prime yrs in army without graduation and also no job security

It might be a good recruitment scheme but was a poorly delivered by Defence minister and team at the start with no further clarifications. Some points are being add up now when people are protesting. Army needs officers with experience not with 4 years experience and training but those experience officers can make great use of 4 year experience new soldiers (agniveer)

Current chiefs themselves clarified that , we discussed and developed this scheme over a period of 2 years by talking with veterans. There are always going to be some veterans who would want indian army to stay the same way as it was before , just out of concern for the army they served their life for some are unsure about it. But these retired veterans should understand that we have to modernize our army according to modern warfare . Currently if anyone would analyze they would find that the system and working of indian army is still stuck in world war times. We have to bring rapid modernisation to stand up to a much more developed and modern target like china. We have to accept that they are currently more organised and well equipped than us to fight a modern war , in which stealth drones could decimate hundreds of soldiers with just one air to ground missile. Indian army is currently overmanned, we have to reduce our numbers to properly sustain both them and our equipment.
The selection process of army is very tough people train for 3-4 years just to pass selection process

Please correct yourself 10% ha been provided reservation to CAPFS , and they can Invest the recieved amount in startups or in education an ideal candidate can be graduated at 25 and will have the greatest exposure to serve the nation ...

Senior officials should consider VRS before consulting others for 4 year job as they already have served too long and that to will create vacancies.

But the monthly salary of agniveer soldiers is less than the salary of Security guard of a companies in Bangalore, Mumbai,chennai and Hyderabad. In Bangalore 8 hours duty monthly salary of a Security guard is 26000 and 4 days Sunday leave

Agniveers must be allowed to marry as much as they want and immunity from prosecution for dowry harassment, DV etc. This will make becoming an Agniveer double attractive. Give them also the right to hire and fire wives as they please. Many People are becoming muslims only to escape oppressive hindu marriage laws.
