This is the first video of yours I’ve seen; I loved it and I’m so looking forward to binge-watching all of your episodes, especially while I work on my first full coverage piece I just started this week (app. 220,000 stitches). Finding this video was perfect timing. I’ve been trying all of the things-royal rows, random parking, cross country, find and do large blocks of colour, etc lol, and wasn’t sure that was ok because, you know, the cross stitch police (well said). I love your relaxed chatty style in your videos. This is a great video for newbies to full coverage. I was so overwhelmed when I first started doing full coverage a few years back. I know this will help and encourage those who are keen to try. Well done 🥰
Jess I think you and I are in the same stitchy family😃. When I started in the '80's I taught myself through library books. And I stitched in lines across the whole piece, changing thread colours as they came along. Now, well now I'm all over the place and I must admit I have begun to think I was odd lol. The majority of stitchers on flosstube seem to stitch either in 10x10 sq. or park My brain just won't let me work like that. I still only use one hand. Thank you and Ryan for this video because it's settled my mind and decided that I can stitch how I like. I love your enthusiasm. How big will Ryan's project be when finished? I think the only time I've seen such a large piece of fabric is Jules(stitching designs)'. The major time I really freaked out was when I tried working on evenweave, I couldn't get my head round it after working on Aida. Now my favourite place is 1x1 on 25ct(gridded of course lol). That fabric is huge, I normally fold in half then half again for centre starts 😊 I do that with a needle too it’ll be interesting to see a centre start on a full coverage

Totally agree with you , I am the same about my backs , no one will see it and like you use common sense if required ,at the end of the day its a personal thing no rules its your stitching enjoy it ! really loving your channel
With my limited experience with scroll rods, they don't work well if the project is wider than the rod. I've done it where I fold over a portion of the project into a split rod frame (one where the wooden rod is split in half rather than a full dowel). But it definitely doesn't have even tension throughout the fabric that way. So if you are someone who wants tight tension and have to sew onto the rod, then it would not necessarily be the best option to use the frame you have. (but you can often get dowels long enough at the hardware store that are the same diameter and would probably work for relatively low cost!)
I am super late to this obviously. And I know that Ryan wanted to do a full on start with taking the fabric out of the package. But when there are a lot of folds in fabric, a quick press with an iron is helpful. It will help to show up your pinch marks better.

I would have liked to see how Ry put his Qsnap with his large fabric. Do you have steering wheel covers in the UK? They are very cheap in the US to use as a cheap alternative to a grime guard. just wrap it around your Qsnap

What kind of tablet do you use for Pattern Keeper? I have an Apple tablet and it doesn’t work on it.
It would be much easier if you cut that fabric down to size first. Unless he really is stitching one that huge.
