    Touching base: I've seen some amazing repaint customs of this figure out there now, and some of you who are doing this, use a 2mm Molotow chrome pen, as it's nib size is small enough to be controllable, and not too small, and please note, after letting the chrome set up for at least a day, coat those areas with AK894 Intermediate Gauzy Agent Shine Enhancer! This amazing coating (simply add more layers for more shine!) is a great coating/protectant for the Molotow chrome finish! It actually coats and protects AND keeps the chrome finish!

    Phenomenal work ! He's light years from what he was...Todd Mcfarlane should see this. Thank you for the share and have a great day ☕

      Thank you so much! And I agree, Todd should release this as a single figure, chromed parts and maybe that cool reflective vinyl like that other custom I saw used! Something....and add the hoses. The hoses made the suit to me. But then again, I love big hosed environmental suited villains! lol! Anyway, thanks so much!

      I'd second that, I'm a collector as well, saw several custom paint jobs they're all overkill to me...then I stumble upon your work and it's just right not overtly done, every brush stroke where it needs to be you're indeed a master at what you do... saw your Ivy as well and you elevated an already beautiful figure, just gorgeous and we're finally getting a Poison Ivy...Keep Soaring and Thank you for the replies. Wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Yuletidings and onwards to an inspiring 2024.

      Thanks for the comments! It doesn't take all that much skill to crayon some chrome pen onto a toy, but I appreciate the response nonetheless! If I hadn't already made a custom Freeze figure, then I wouldn't have had the moxie to try. I say, give it a try! As you can see, it sure makes for a more satisfying figure!

      You bet! It was a life saver on this project, and I have started using it on older paints, to protect them, or gloss them up, whatever, and MAN is this stuff awesome! My custom Catwoman's cowl now matches the shiny material I used for her costume! SO many uses! Thanks so much for leading me to it!

      Thanks so much. This is actually an amazing base figure out of box. I try to show just that, that all the basics are actually here, in this figure. It's just...the wrong silver color! I guess chromed production of this one might be cost prohibitive. Like you say, I guess we shall see...someday!

      Thanks for the kind words. I too really want to do a step by step of ones like this one. Maybe soon, I can and will show every detail a bit better. Sorry for the quick version, as this was a fun and rewarding custom repaint to do and share. ANYONE can do most of what I did. It does take the courage to be willing to possibly damage a very hard to get, and expensive figure! lol! So, again, some day I hope to share a more detailed how-to! Stay tuned!

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the kind words, but all it takes is a modicum of skill! lol! Trust me! If you do no more than the chrome part, your satisfaction with this figure will go up tenfold! FInd a Molotow Chrome marker pen, 2mm is large enough, and get to it! Just be careful not to chrome too much at one time. Have a strategy. Let it set up and cure. Plan so what you do chrome, can sit for 6 hours to a day, before you handle it and move on. And get some Intermediate Gauzy Agent and coat the chrome you do as you go. It sets relatively fast and helps you handle it.

    Great custom! I see you added a backpack also...any details on how you did that?

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty simple... just looked through my drawer of bits, and found two similar box shapes, one thin and hollow, I put it on top of the other, larger one til it looked about right. Didn't try to do movie accurate. Chromed them. Then I think I glued a pin into the lower one, then glued it into his mid-back armor to hold it in place. The rest was dremeling holes and stringing hoses (elastic cord). There is a logic, freeze frame and note the way they hook in. As long as it's visually close it works. (It helps I did made a 1/6 custom a year ago!)

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I realize I didn't get a good straight on view of the back. Sorry about that! I thought I had. Except for the one top line that goes to his helmet (in the film there are two lines, but at this scale, who's counting!) everything else splits and is either right or left side stuff. Think power lines from one segment to the next. The junction boxes are the funny little areas between the bubbles on the sides. Then the lines simply go from one segment, with slack for movement, to the next. Hope that helps!

      @@LesWalker2023 I just recently picked up the vinyl 13" figure from 1997 that was sold at the Warner Bros. store. It has the complete movie accurate backpack sculpted on, so I may use that and 3D print a scaled down accurate version of it for the McFarlane figure. I'm really hoping, knowing how Todd likes to reuse molds, will get another version down the line with maybe a goggled head and the winged jetpack. Thanks again!

      And...if there is ever a way to obtain one of your reduced scale backpacks, once produced, please keep me in mind for one! I could at least put the face of it over mine! 😉(BTW, I used that vinyl figure for parts for my 1/6 scale custom Mr Freeze I did last year! In my older youtube vid, somewhere around the 2 minute mark in that video, you can see that very pack!)

    Thanks for posting this!!! Man, I just started chroming mine with that same pen and the difference is insane. Really brings the figure to life! I had a question or two if you have a sec - is that gauzy stuff also sealer that I apply with a brush over the base chromes and blues? Or do I need to apply a spray sealer over the whole figure once I'm done painting?
    Man, I hope mine turns out half as cool as yours. Thanks again for posting this!

      Brush the Gauzy on to the chromed parts. I sprayed it first with Mr Hobby Mr Super Clear Matt, then chromed, then Gauzy the chrome. That way, all surfaces are protected. Oh, and THANKS for the kind words! Appreciated!

    What are your thoughts on the Intermediate Gauzy vs. Alclad Aqua Gloss? They both seem pretty similar for a water based clear for chrome. I have clear coated Molotow with Aqua Gloss.

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have not used Aqua Gloss yet! Sounds like good stuff! I use the Gauzy to great effect, so I am pretty happy with it. Does the Aqua Gloss do layers, and can you paint it by hand? One great thing about the Gauzy is it's self leveling.

    • @decadentdave
      @decadentdave 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LesWalker2023 I believe you can brush it since it is water based. It should be self leveling kind of like brushing on Pledge Future. It is milky white but dries clear like Gauzy.

  • @decadentdave
    @decadentdave ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Les for the Molotow chrome did you use the paint pens to draw it on or did you airbrush it? Thanks. I’m shocked the Gauzy didn’t diminish the chrome as most clear coat sealers do. I knoe Molotow is alcohol based and Gauzy is water based like Alclad Aquagloss.

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. FIrst off, I don't airbrush, so it was all penned on, or brushed by hand. For me, that is better control. Second, the Gauzy is different than other gloss protectants somehow. It does NOT diminish the chrome, and to me that is a complete mystery, which I will take! lol! I am very grateful that it works so well. It has to be chemistry. Not sure what, but it works!

    How and where did you get the pack on his back that you attached the wires to?

    • @LesWalker2023
      @LesWalker2023  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I just found a decent rectangular box that was about right, that I could drill holes into for the hoses and glue to his back. I chromed it and it just fits. Any decent box will work as finding the accurate form of the backpack is hard as it is, much less in this scale.
