Sorry one more thing Stens at El Alamein good lord no I could go on but It's bringing on the hernia. Also not only is The volksturmgewehr way to early it is only semi auto and is interpretated incorrectly it's the Volksturm(People's Storm) Gewehr (rifle)
Not assault or storm rifle like the STG44. This rifle was being given to basically home guard AKA the Volksturm they ain't getting the top of the line STG44. sorry rant over. P.s the equipment worn through the mission is beyond dogshit.

Sten SMGs were not used in North Africa because of being made entirely by Sheet metal. They used Thompson instead COD 2 did this excellently. There weren't any sten in COD 2 North Africa. But COD Finest Hour had but that we played as SAS

The American soldiers in WAW were way more aggressive than the aussies in vanguard, you can hear the soldiers swearing almost constantly. The aussies in vanguard are so censored it’s hilarious, after researching about Australian troops fighting against the Japanese, the Japanese were terrified of them. There’s a video about a Japanese veteran recalling his experience with the aussies and he talks about them in such high regard, how one soldier charged at them with a handful of grenades and started chucking them everywhere.

"We need to protect the tanks from the RPG's!"
Its lines like these that showcase how dense the developers were and how little they asked of actual historians or combat specialists and the like. "We need to protect the tanks from the heavy infantry!" "We need to protect the tanks from those panzerfausts!" "We need to protect the tanks from the infantry! They have heavy weapons!" "Enemy Anti tank unit! Protect the tanks!" "Panzerfausts! We need to protect the tanks dont let them get close!"

Something that I think I'm the weird person about because nobody else seems to mention it, but in most terrain, infantry are absolutely not protecting the tanks. The tanks protect the infantry. If there's a gun emplacement firing AT at a tank, it's normally 300m - 1km away. Infantry can't hit shit at that range and the tank is what takes it out. It's only in close quarter urban combat that infantry are really supporting the tanks, and even then, more often than not the infantry has it's own problems to worry about. Sure there may be 2 or 3 guys who can hit the tanks and do anything, but there's probably 30-40 guys who can fuck you up as a random dude on the ground. I want to see one of these missions where every time a panzerfaust or an rpg (for modern games) is fired at a tank, the tank just turns and completely fucks up the guy's position if it lives. Like the panzerfaust shoots at the tank from a second story window, then another tank from further back in the column just shoots HE into the building and blows it the fuck up. There's the tank mission in WAW where the player is doing that, but I want to see more games where the main job of the infantry is to keep up with a tank that's lazily moving along mowing people down, and if the tank gets too far ahead, enemies start coming out from the sides with mines to try and place them in front of the tracks.

If anything they would have flown the Union Jack alongside the Australian Flag.
I think this was probably a reference to Monte Cassino where the Poles flew the Polish flag from the ruins but then were told to also fly a Union flag alongside it, I think it's because Allied commanders assumed quite a lot of Allied troops would not know what the Polish flag looked like, but would have known the British flag and thus easier to identify, but from what I've read, the Polish flag stayed.
I'm pretty sure this was added to make the British look incompetent or downplay their role in WW2.

Take a posh English officer with apparently no leadership qualities and make him an absolute dick to anyone not his class or nationality, a trope more in place in the Sharpe novels or something set in the Boer War (Basically at any point it was still possible to purchase a commission).

alcohol left around Canadian troops will also disappear but for entirely different reasons. alcohol will be taken and traded with dry and over supplied American troops for gear that actually works.
A Korea veteran i used to work with at a museum, once told me a story about how he and some guys from his unit traded a jeep trailer full of Canadian army whiskey for a trailer full of M1 Carbines and ammo.

    • @BWNSPTV
      @BWNSPTV 2 ปีที่แล้ว

That level of Awesome with alcohols being swap for different goods and whatever is that is a classic and perfectly awesome way that the free market can continue to operate within the framework of total war as it operates in democratic free market economies. Need all sorts of things to win Wars and the fact of the matter is to that booze to the infantry is like sex to the Navy, it is a necessary component in the supply chain and if a nation state running a total war economy fails to provide well the free market or call it a blue market blue is always a good guys will provide. Supply Sergeant quartermasters in different branches of the military's and from different nations in in an alliance always done this sort of thing to smooth out the supply chain issues. They get away with it because senior officers amongst the biggest clients get away with moving a lot of deer around when everything is recorded in triplicate where is the paper trail and as long as it's done the war that paper trail is not a problem however when people start in riching themselves on the taxpayers' dollar then that becomes treasonous and assisting the enemy and times of Total War that sort of things doesn't go down very well for anyone that is caught doing it that's the sort of thing that gets you shot or hung if you're in uniform no you're a civilian doing it then depending on the severity may cause natural death of natural causes unnaturally or you may become the poster child for cooked for breathe and walk property when all the previously mentioned paperwork that isn't a problem just landed on the desks or safes prior to discovery after extraordinary and dedicated investigators and Forensic Accountants painstakingly followed elaborate paper trails that lead to a war profiteering traitor who's greed is depriving our soldiers at the front from the war material they need. A total war is usually for national and if the letter of the law has to be bent and twisted to keep the spirit of the law alive which is the functioning of society which that moment is engaged in a total war voting for national survival let it will be done to keep inflation minimum and sustain war effort and that's will be done. Total war between nation States is not just people fighting each other it is the entire economic system of a nation vs another where destroying the Enemies industrial capacity killing their soldiers they're all just parts of the main products of which and Nations state engaged in total war is producing. The product which is the destruction of the Enemies will to keep fighting. It's ya inflation is a really key thing, Total War economy inflation represents an increase in the price that products and if the increases price of that product increases to a point which is beyond what the nation-state is willing to pay, the war ends.

I'm guessing someone has beat me to this in the comments already, but I had to weigh in. The Lee-Enfield depicted in the game is a No. 4 Mk. I. You are correct that it should have an aperture sight, but the more glaring mistake is that it shouldn't be there.
The No. 4 Mk. I was introduced part way through the war to replace the SMLE (AKA the No. 1 Mk. III). The No. 4 was not used in North Africa to my knowledge (Maybe in Tunisia). It was certainly not produced or adopted by the Aussies, who chose instead to stick with the SMLE. Also, the grooves in the handguard are correct for the No. 4. They just only appeared on some of the rifles.
Edit: Also also, I don't *think* they would have Stens. Probably still Thompsons at that point.

    - 17:00 - Even though the Sten was in service at this point, the M1928 Thompson was still the standard SMG for the 8th Army in Africa and would remain so well into the Italian Campaign
    - 20:00 - There were a couple USAAF heavy bomber squadrons attached to the Desert Air Force but they flew B-24s, not B-17s. Also that B-17 appears to be in bare metal aluminum, which wasn’t standard until mid-1944
    - 26:15 - There was a 100+ round drum for the Bren but it looked nothing like this and was always tripod or vehicle mounted
    - 36:00 - the VStG was semi-auto only
    - 36:30 - The Afrika Korps still mainly had MG34s although they had a few MG42s at this point

When i comes to the iconic Lee-Enfield rifle you said the golden words, "I've fired this gun". One way I know that can help developers make firearms accurate is to go to a gun range and if possible hold and fire the guns they plan to put into a game. That way they know how it looks, feels, and more importantly functions. However the more i look at this game the more i can tell these People never really looked at a firearms in their life let alone shoot one. Hell they probably have a panic attack just by holding the damn gun.

Sure, it's absolutely fucking ridiculous and stupid that I can have a Garand with a drum mag or modern optical sights on a fucking Luger, but it's multiplayer so historical accuracy goes out the window anyway because no one actually plays it historically. But I expect this shit in the goddamn campaign at the very least. Seriously, STG-44's in 1942? You're not even trying, the clue's in the fucking name, dickheads! RPG in World War II? What makes the usage of this term so wrong is that the first Ruchnoy Protivotankovyy Granatomot (RPG-1) only started its design by 1944 whereas RPG-2, which actually went into circulation, was used beginning 1954. "If the Lee Enfield only has a 5 round capacity, I'm coming for you." This is the company that added the DMR class of rifle to Cold War for no reason, then put 2 assault rifles in it for no reason. Sure the m16 would have been a burst rifle at the end of Vietnam, but the AUG, the other assault rifle they put in has 2 firing modes. Semi automatic with a partial trigger pull, and fully automatic with a full trigger pull. There is no burst variant of the AUG and the advantage of the bullpup design is that it maintains full stopping power while being more compact for close quarters fighting. AND THEY FUCKING MADE IT A BURST DMR WITH WORSE HANDLING THAN AN AK-47!

Also, the "War Machine" is a made-up version of the Bomb Thrower, 2 Inch, Mk I (or 2-inch Mortar M3 if you're an American), which was a single-shot 2-inch launcher for smoke grenades that was mounted in the turret of some British tanks. Oddly, it did not have an AGS-17 drum, was not semi-auto, and did not fire explosive grenades. But _apart from that..._

    • @alexnieves9548

What's kinda funny though is there is actually an automatic grenade launcher that would have fit the period at least. in the 1930s Yakov Taubin was developing a crew served automatic grenade launcher for the soviets. Its pretty much faded into obscurity since it was never adopted and he was executed for party related crimes. But that would require far more effort than what Activision put forward for this game.

The guns in this game hurt my poor little german soul. Especially the Volkssturmgewehr. The thing in the game has about fuck all in common with the real one. It's not an assault rifle. The real one was a semi-auto last-ditch rifle, VG1 and 2 were even bolt action. It's not the Peoples Assault Rifle, though word for word it would translate like that. The Volkssturm was a homeguard militia, though Volkssturm sounds better in propaganda. These guys were not assaulting american or russian positions. The ppl who used this were not all soldiers, though some veterans were around. Funny enough, thanks to german doctrine we hadn't had too much of those who were still in fighting condition. If you could reasonably fight, you were at the front. It's not an assault rifle either. These things did not go to the front, let alone really leave the country. They were guard weapons essentially. Cheap crap just about good enough for purpose. And there wasn't the one VG, there were 5. they were designed to be made cheap, fast and to the companies strengths. Gustloff produced most of them in the end, I think. At least the semi-autos. And I don't say they were absolute dogshite, us germans knew a thing or two about making guns, it's just that these things were not designed to have a multi year service life in active combat units. They were not made that way. I mean in the end we even made the K98 with a laminated wood stocks. Which is brilliant for accuracy and sturdyness actually, should've done that earlier. And to find the STG44 at virtually every corner just hurts. Yes, it was a brilliant thing, it just was too little, too late. If we had had those in '41, oh boy, we would've torn shit up even worse than we did with our K98s and MPs. Let's just say I think Stalingrad wouldn't have taken a month and we could've, maybe, made it to Moscow. Though an actually reliable heavy tank we could actually produce in reasonable numbers would've been more helpful in that regard.

As a Texan and a formerly pretty avid wearer of cowboy hats to work outside: I’m going to have to disagree with you on the usefulness of slouching a wide brimmed hat in a hot or desert environment: y’see, I would often slouch my hat on one side and just flip the hat around on my head depending on where the sun was facing, this way you have better ability to see out the side that is slouched, while the brimmed side is still blocking the sun out of one’s eyes.
I’m sure everyone likes to do things differently though, but at least as a former Texas landscaper: the slouched hat tooooootally is useful in hot environments without having to universally have the brim down, so I think they can get a pass on that one.

The old games were made by different people is why. COD 1, 2, 4 and most of MW2 were made by Infinity Ward, who is now known as Respawn Entertainment, with some staying behind and making Infinite Warfare and MW2019. COD 3 and Big Red One were made by Treyarch and they've always had the more gritty, emotional storytelling down. COD Vanguard was made by Sledgehammer, AKA the guys responsible for every increasing disappointment since MW2. MW3 which coasted off of the series success and was not nearly as good, Advanced Warfare, WW2, Vanguard. All of them are Sledgehammer, which leads to the inevitable conclusion that Call of Duty itself hasn't gone downhill, more that they have a development team that needs to be let go. Black Ops 3 and 4 weren't the best thing in the world, but they were by no means bad and they're the worst that Treyarch has put out.

At the 10:55 mark you can see him aim, fire, cycle the bolt, and THEN come off the sights. The rest of the time, I think the player is doing this because the transition from hip fire to aiming down sights auto-locks onto the enemy closest to your crosshair.
